    Is it just me or am I getting some Microsoft store and Mac OS App Store vibes from Ubuntu’s software center?

    • @haplozetetic9519

      Canonical seems to be more interested in the server side of Linux, and less with the average user. They're becoming more like M$ and Apple. I don't think I'll be using anything of theirs in the future, unless they change.

  • @diotitus
    @diotitus Год назад +44

    The new software store is great and all, but the fact that they are making it so you can only search for and install Snaps and nothing from the repositories is a massive let down.

    • @chairman67
      @chairman67 Год назад +4

      The Mint team's introduction of LMDE is another step away from Ubuntu.. perhaps they see the writing is on the wall.. Yeah, a Snap only software choice.. is this the future Canonical are striving for?! Seems so.

    • @NarendraU23
      @NarendraU23 Год назад +10

      I tested 23.10 few days ago and the new store can search and install deb packages from the repo. It can't install downloaded deb files though, but that might be a bug (it just loads indefinitely). Also, sometimes deb packages won't show up but it works after force closing the store.
      23.10 is still in beta so I'd say cut it some slack.

      @@chairman67There was a video from a channel called Switched to Linux where it goes into more detail, but he talks about an article where the developers are literally talking about their plans to make everything snap-only. And also if you think tiling WMs and activities buttons are "big" changes thats just catering to those who dont use linux for what it was made for. Why no talk about the pre-installed rust compiler or the new updates to packages like libm, x11, new drivers for Nvidia, things that actually seperate this distro from the last ones on a functional level and not somethhing we could have acheived with xfce/i3 and a config file?
    you talk about tech specs for like 10-20 seconds with intel and amd both getting performance boosts xD and "numerous driver update".

    2 things to take to heart here, first flutter is a google EEE, google is making a replace for all OS's and they want Dart and flutter to be the tools for it, so flutter is NOT a good thing, we don't know use it or any apps made with it.
    2nd you use Mac device in your video, and make promises that Linux will run perfect on them, please don't as linux don't run that well on Mac right now... and it will hurt linux.
