The Springboks inconsistencies are due to Rassie and Nienaber focusing on the World Cup and nothing else. Yes, they want to win everything, but the World Cup is the main goal. In the last seventeen tests, the Springboks have used 52 players, and they only once played the same, starting 15 in back to back games. They have made almost 200 changes to their match day 23 in their last 19 tests. I think in the World Cup there will be fewer changes when playing the big games. With the pool they are in, they had to build depth so that players can be rested and the team can still win against the "lesser" nations without having to use the big guns. Ireland struggled against Somoa with their "second string" side. With the Springboks having to play three games in thirteen days and the number 1 and 5 ranked teams being two of those games, they have to use that depth. No other team in the World Cup has such a difficult group and schedule. It is very unlikely for the Springboks to win the World Cup with their draw and schedule, but I can't think of any other nation that are able to pull it off. If anybody can, it is the Springboks.

ABs dominated the first 20, controlled the second 20, were dominated in the third 20 before clinically finishing the final 20. Most importantly they dominated the scoreboard which is the only thing that counts.

I would still back libbok over pollard and honestly moodie at 13 over Am based on form. We’re golden. We’ve got the depth so the loss of those two will be marginal due to the solid backup

@@christophernormann2009 I never used to like Jesse Kriel but I tell you what, the man can play rugby! Not sure if it's the more open running style in Japan or what, but seeing him in the last couple of weeks he really proved me wrong and I could not be happier.
I would stick with Jesse at 13, on form and familiarity, and I would have Canan, Chezzie and Willie as my back three.
Tell you something else about Manie.... he puts Esterhuizen into gaps. Outside Polly, he wasn't so good because he was just too similar in style but with Manie playing the distributor role like Smith does for 'Quins, Esterhuizen is shining. The entire back line now runs to the style of a Manie / Willemse hybrid that Polly is not familiar with. Polly will always be a very special player, but I think pulling him in at this late stage will cause the side more harm than good.

    • @christophernormann2009
      @christophernormann2009 Год назад +1

@@Karma-qt4ji well said… I just would feel so sad to lose Kurt -Lee as a result of keeping Jesse on the field. I find there is more magic potential with as many of our flair backline players as possible. Both Kurt Lee and moodie have the potential to turn a split second into 7 points. I only mention those two because let’s face it chezzie is a done deal for starting. So compromising on arendse or moodie is a big loss of an asset. Jesse to me is more of your steady backup player like her was for Am. But that’s just me, I like our guys who play razzle dazzle which is why I would also choose willemse at 15 over Willie. To me the pollards, kriels, and willies don’t bring the magic like the other guys I mention do. And I don’t think the experience compared to how these younger more allusive is that much better than the dynamite the libboks, willemses, moodies and arendses bring but I do understand that it would be irresponsible from a coaching staff point of view. I just am waaay more entertained with the guys that I prefer and it reminds me of New Zealand rugby which has never been an exiting style we’ve tapped into

I think Nienaber and Rassie pretty much hit the sweet spot ito play developing and experienced players.
Think this is very close to the A team.
Libbok is a fast and creative 10 which had the right backline players to compliment him. About everyone a speedster in his own right.
Man, I am excited by this team, reminding me so much of the Boks of old, heavy artillery up front and a backline to tear it up.

Good analysis. Your point about their consistency is interesting. Can they continue to put out a top performance on a regular basis like they did against the All Blacks thrashing? It's hard to say at this level. The All Blacks of old never used to get hammered. When they lost in the past it was only by small margins. But this current All Blacks team is weak at coach and captain level. The world game has also moved on and it's not realistic for the All Blacks to dominate consistently at the top level all the time. It's also healthy for the world game to have more even competition, rather than just the same old teams winning all the time.

The Boks are much more dangerous when they play an expansive game with Willemse at 15, Moodie 13, AE 12, KLA and Mapimpi/Kolbe on the wings and Libbok and Faf/Jaden/Williams. Marx must start and play the whole game, the same with PSDT and Kolisi. Eben and Mostert, Kitshoff, Malherbe and Duane to start with RG, Kleyn, Bongi, Jesse, Jaden, Kwagga/Wiese, Trevor/Koch and Ox on the bench. The Boks are still improving and are looking good to take the 2023 RWC! 👍
Ireland are the second best option to win the RWC but can their forwards match the Boks and will their multiphase attacking style of play be effective under RWC pressure and solid defences? Boks to win against Ireland in the Group Stage.
France are in trouble with the loss of crucial players and excessive expectations on their shoulders and will not make it out of the QF's. Their pack is also slow especially their front row.
The AB's forwards are their weakness and will they will loose to Ireland in the QF's but win against France in the WC opener. Their discipline is also not always what it should be.
    QF's
    NZ < Ireland by 7
    Boks > France by 12
    Argentina < Wales by 3
    Australia > England by 3
    Semis
    Ireland > Australia by 12
    Boks > Wales by 9
Australia/Wales and Argentina/England/Figi will loose badly in the Semis.
Tonga, Georgia, Samoa, Italy not to mention the rest haven't a snowball's chance to win the WC.
Scotland will unfortunately be eliminated at the Group Stage by the Boks and Ireland.

So if it's not going to be the green and gold of the land down under, it will hopefully be the green and gold of the southern African tribal kingdom.
