So for Idol, it was a merge of Korean culture and African culture which I thought was really cool. I'm Kenyan, and just from my observation (African elements) They had the Gqom sound from south Africa. You can hear it with the beats and the whistle sound throughout the sound. With the fashion, aside from the different prints which we call 'Kitenge' in my country they also had the "safari" aesthetic with the khaki/beige outfits which I thought was really cool because they maintained that theme with the animals in the video. And of course the dances like the gwaragwara and some shakushaku. I just really enjoyed the African-Korean fusion. Honestly, for blood sweat and tears I tried to understand everything on my own, I even read "Demian" (the music video, the song and the entire album are inspired on that book) and still needed to find a youtube explanation of all the symbolism (there are just sooo many). It is a work of art, a masterpiece when you understand all of the symbolism in the MV. As a baby army (and honestly for a long time after) I was so confused watching the music video. Also, I laughed because the minute you said "ohh they are actors too" and it showed Jin I was in my head like "well he is in fact a college graduated actor jaja" Also for the members, dont worry on confusing them. There is a lot of jokes on twitter on how common it is to confuse the members in the beginning (I am terrible with faces myself so, it took a bunch of videos to get it jajaj). Once you start noticing the differences in style (like their voice, rap, dancing, etc) for each member it becomes easy (some say microphone colors are the way to differentiate them, but those end up changing too eventually). Honestly, I think I ended up learning who each member was watching run bts (their own variety show, which is awesome, specially when eating for some reason). I hope you enjoy the Bangtan journey.
Dont worry if you can't tell them apart right away. If you look at their old dance practice videos from when they first debuted, the guys had to wear shirts with their names on them because even the camera crew and staff couldn't tell who was who. LOL. The fact they were always changing hair colors didn't help. The commenter above who suggested learning their voices had a good point. Their voices are very distinct from each other and once you can recognize their voices it's easy. Also, whenever one of them sings or raps, they move to the center of the dance formation so that helps too.

Blood Sweat and Tear explanation: Uff this is a difficult one :D So, the song is based of the book : Demian by Herman Hesse. (Fun Fact: Hesse was a friend of a psychologist Jung who was another big inspiration for a lot of BTS music such as Fake Love and IDOL ) Demian is a book in its esence about maturing and the temptations along the way. For a child everything is black and white, and this book focuses on how it all becomes blended together once we start maturing....and how easy it is in that stage to fall for temptation once the lines of good and bad become muddles in life (drug abuse, toxic relationships, blood money, fighting), but how hard it is to leave the temptation behind. In this MV the temptaions is depicted by V - the Fallen Angel...which btw this is ALSO part of BTS Universe storyline but I aint gonna get into that.

Forget blood sweat and tears for a second. Their albums are thematic. The other 3 songs were the title songs to their 3 love yourself albums. LY: Her (DNA) is about finding that one true fated love. LY: Tear (Fake Love) is about that fated love being torn apart. LY: Answer (Idol) is about realizing that the way to finding true love is to first love yourself. Blood, sweat and tears came much earlier on their Wings album. That album focuses on the book Damien by Herman Hesse. It’s about the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The loss of innocence. There is a fictional storyline that runs through some (a bunch) of their MVs. The whole wings album (BS&T) is Bangtan Universe. So is fake love. These BU MVs don’t always follow the song lyrics bc it’s following the storyline.

The way that helped me learn all their names and recognize when they sing is to listen to solo songs. They each have their one unique voice and style but mix so well together as a group. I recommend: RM-still life, Jin-epiphany, Suga - Daechwita, J-Hope - equal=sign, Jimin-serendipity, V-singularity, and Jungkook-begin (or still with you in his v-live bc glorious vocals) :)

So for Idol, it was a merge of Korean culture and African culture which I thought was really cool. I'm Kenyan, and just from my observation (African elements) They had the Gqom sound from south Africa. You can hear it with the beats and the whistle sound throughout the sound. With the fashion, aside from the different prints which we call 'Kitenge' in my country they also had the "safari" aesthetic with the khaki/beige outfits which I thought was really cool because they maintained that theme with the animals in the video. And of course the dances like the gwaragwara and some shakushaku. I just really enjoyed the African-Korean fusion. I hope you'll notice some of the elements you missed the next time you decide to check out the video 💜

It was a cool coincidence that you watched dna, fake live and idol in that order, because they are part of the three love yourself albums, you can see in dna a love that feels like destiny, in fake love it falls apart since the narrator changed themselves to please the other person, and then idol is a celebration of loving and accepting all parts of yourself. Fun fact, the idol choreo also features the south african gwara gwara dance moves and the traditional korean barrel kicks/jumps, it’s a mixture of many different cultures shown in the beats/music video/choreo showing that bts loves themselves as koreans and as global artists (since they were getting hate from koreans for being too westernised and hate from westerns for being too korean/too foreign…)

Honestly, for blood sweat and tears I tried to understand everything on my own, I even read "Demian" (the music video, the song and the entire album are inspired on that book) and still needed to find a youtube explanation of all the symbolism (there are just sooo many). It is a work of art, a masterpiece when you understand all of the symbolism in the MV. As a baby army (and honestly for a long time after) I was so confused watching the music video. Also, I laughed because the minute you said "ohh they are actors too" and it showed Jin I was in my head like "well he is in fact a college graduated actor jaja"
Also for the members, dont worry on confusing them. There is a lot of jokes on twitter on how common it is to confuse the members in the beginning (I am terrible with faces myself so, it took a bunch of videos to get it jajaj). Once you start noticing the differences in style (like their voice, rap, dancing, etc) for each member it becomes easy (some say microphone colors are the way to differentiate them, but those end up changing too eventually). Honestly, I think I ended up learning who each member was watching run bts (their own variety show, which is awesome, specially when eating for some reason). I hope you enjoy the Bangtan journey.
Dont worry if you can't tell them apart right away. If you look at their old dance practice videos from when they first debuted, the guys had to wear shirts with their names on them because even the camera crew and staff couldn't tell who was who. LOL. The fact they were always changing hair colors didn't help. The commenter above who suggested learning their voices had a good point. Their voices are very distinct from each other and once you can recognize their voices it's easy. Also, whenever one of them sings or raps, they move to the center of the dance formation so that helps too.

So, the song is based of the book : Demian by Herman Hesse. (Fun Fact: Hesse was a friend of a psychologist Jung who was another big inspiration for a lot of BTS music such as Fake Love and IDOL )
Demian is a book in its esence about maturing and the temptations along the way. For a child everything is black and white, and this book focuses on how it all becomes blended together once we start maturing....and how easy it is in that stage to fall for temptation once the lines of good and bad become muddles in life (drug abuse, toxic relationships, blood money, fighting), but how hard it is to leave the temptation behind. In this MV the temptaions is depicted by V - the Fallen Angel...which btw this is ALSO part of BTS Universe storyline but I aint gonna get into that.

It's just so good and has a really deep meaning but it's hard to explain since references a book title 'Demian' and it's related to the BU (The BU means BTS universe. BTS has a complex storyline that has been going through since 2015. This one connects a lot of their Music videos under the BU mark + Notes in albums, a webtoon (a digital comic), books and more).
I think It's too soon for you to go deep into the meaning of this lol. I mean, I've been an army since 2016 and I still get confused with many things of the storyline. The theories are crazy. Fake love is also under the BU by the way.

Their albums are thematic. The other 3 songs were the title songs to their 3 love yourself albums. LY: Her (DNA) is about finding that one true fated love. LY: Tear (Fake Love) is about that fated love being torn apart. LY: Answer (Idol) is about realizing that the way to finding true love is to first love yourself.
Blood, sweat and tears came much earlier on their Wings album. That album focuses on the book Damien by Herman Hesse. It’s about the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The loss of innocence.

About blood sweat and tears, yes you probably have heard it before. Last year there was a sound trending on TikTok and it was “blood sweat and tears” x “streets”. There was also like a little dance or whatever to it. But the thing is like 70% of the people doing the dance didn’t know that it’s bts. Tbh, I didn’t either until I searched it up a little over a year ago and I became an army. 😄

The way that helped me learn all their names and recognize when they sing is to listen to solo songs. They each have their one unique voice and style but mix so well together as a group. I recommend: RM-still life, Jin-epiphany, Suga - Daechwita, J-Hope - equal=sign, Jimin-serendipity, V-singularity, and Jungkook-begin (or still with you in his v-live bc glorious vocals) :)

Looks like RM might be your bias (same here!) He came out with an album called "Indigo" a few months ago if you want to get into some solo work, probably one of the best albums I've ever heard! He has a ton of features like "Wildflower" ft. youjeen (has a MV), "Still Life" ft. Anderson Paak (has a MV) and "Yun" ft. Erykah Badu. RM was also recently featured on a song called "Don't Ever Say Love Me" by Colde (he was featured on the "Indigo" album on the song "Hectic") ft. RM that came out 1-2 weeks ago!
