You have no idea how wonderful this video is for families like ours...we have a kiddo with multiple disabilities and we were wondering how on earth we could include her in the experience on this right...now we know the Falcon will still fly even if she's the pilot! Heck, the ship is practically a sentient character in it's own right anyway, eh? Thanks for this, so glad you did this experiment!
thanks! Also ask the castmember that is seating you on the ride because I believe they can put it on autopilot so it will fly well or gun or engineer well without the person having to do something.
Ordinary Adventures doesn't this video prove that it's always on autopilot? the only way you guys could have been less interactive would have been to have walked off the falcon again and just left the camcorder
There is automation because if not, the ride would be frustrating to people who don't have the ability to press buttons or take control. The interaction and button pressing is to control the accuracy and timing of stuff. But there are differences. If you hit the brakes, you don't hit the train. The missiles and hyperspace are important and they have to happen, but when it comes to interaction, you get to control the timing of it and have that satisfaction of actually activating it.
It makes sense. What's the experience if someone goes AWOL at the control? Either because they're not getting it. Or because they're specifically wanting to screw with people. The ride needs to maintain the flow and limp along without significant impact. A lower score only "counts" in that you're not walking off with as many credits on your Datapad. Which... I'm guessing most park goers aren't even aware of.
Haha, I noticed so many more things because of how smooth the ride was without people piloting. I think this is now weirdly the best video version of the ride. :)
Not really any other options. Especially if there's kids on the ride, you don't want them to miss any of the good stuff because they don't know what to do.
Thanks so much for trying this out. I was really curious what would happen if you didn’t do anything. I’m not at all surprised it automates it for you. I am surprised how well you did though.
That was fun. Can't stop watching your videos. Last week we did realize the simulator does somewhat take control. A group of 4 in front of us decided to just watch and video the whole ride. Without touching the controls. Oddly, our piloting skills has now improved greatly. For me it's better to gently nudge the controls.
Hmmmmm, the first time we rode the MF the couple who got the pilot had ZERO clue to what to do and was bumpy as hell, second time had some young teens who did seem to make the ride smoother and was no where as bumpy. I think the ride is designed not to crash and die and I do know your fellow riders can affect the ride indeed, great vlog guys yet again!
Just discovered you guys, love your videos, been watching all the Galaxy’s Edge stuff. Thank you so much for sharing these for those of us that may not be able to visit these theme parks, and attractions. I feel like I’m living vicariously through you! Awesome! Cant wait to see what happens when you try that w/6 people- or even try to crash it - they say you cant crash The Falcon...….cant wait to see if its true!
I rode Smuggler’s Run with a little kid in the up and down pilot position. I think she didn’t really know what to do, so we spent most of the ride hitting the ground. It was super bumpy, but the screen also started glitching. It glitched a few times on the ride. I was totally surprised by that
some people are saying the ride will be ruined if you are with people that aren't trying. I think it seemed like you guys had more fun! And the flashing damage lights after the ride was interesting to see.
The cast member only sees the light behind him flash red (very bad), flashing green (okay/good), or solid green (very good). Unless he actually looks at the tiny screens inside the cockpit, he doesn’t know your exact score.
I just noticed something, if you know the design of the millennium falcon then the ride is wrong, the cockpit is on the left side of the vehicle so that means all the rest of the ship is on the right, the cockpit on the ride gets so close to some of the rocks and supports without them hitting the body of the ship
It has to be pretty much automated - it is still just a film, and on a time schedule. If you ride with someone who does not know, or care, about how to 'play' it, then your experience would be ruined. There has to be a default course it will run.
I was a gunner and I felt like a freaking lunatic. I just slapoed the wall for like 8 minutes straight trying to look back and forth. I barely saw the game bc I was trying to do my part well. I had a kink in my neck, an achey back and a red palm that no pre-prepared Oga's crappy drink could fix. Lol it SUUUUUUUCKED.
Great video. I’m kinda new to your page, but so far it’s great!!! Loving the Star Wars content. And I liked the Universal stuff. If there a Universal by Disneyland? I know there’s the big one by Disney World...
Regarding the coaxium-I think part of why you collected it was because you had no engineers, so it auto-fired the harpoons. Wonder what would happen if you had engineers, but they didn’t fire?
Iv been to Disney 2 twice in my life (5 and 14) I'm now 25 and I feel good seeing people happy. I work for home Depot, I'll hook you guys up if your ever in the Hollywood area. Good luck.
They should've had it where 4 people could sit up front with two acting as Pilots, and 2 middle seats in the center near the front for just viewing and four seats in the back for two to view and two to engineer.
I’m only shocked that people actually thought they would have control of a cabin’s movements and an automated video and when to do what. The only attraction at Disney that is 100% controlled by the rider is Autopia lol.
Haha that photo was from the Solo: A Star Wars Story junket, but I thought it was a good representation of the no hands experiment as chewie just had his hands up - Peter
I recall reading that Disney claimed there are 200 buttons(??) they could enable. They could have gotten really complicated/simulation but not sure how some people would react if Disney made it more simulator than ride/attraction and the riders could t even get off the planet. It's a fine balance. It would be interesting if DIsney dedicated one cockpit for the serious avid fan who wants a simulator as opposed to just another ride/mission space.
Love the video.... I'm super upset that the ride has that much control over outcomes. I was expecting zero light speed jumps and hitting a ton more obstacles. We expect more of our imagineers!!!!!
The predetermined actions help for people who know nothing. We flew and a one off person was a pilot....he just sat staring and the left pilot pulled the lever for light speed.
When I was 8 years old this would have been the highlight of my life and I would have looked at the whole experience with a completely different attitude. Nothing against all the middle-aged folks going on these rides, I'm just saying.
My friend and I got to be pilots, and we were actively trying to do well, but I think we ended up crashing more and doing even worse than by not doing anything at all!
In Legends, the Falcon does crash on a planet and at another point Chewbacca dies but his nephew Lobocca or "Lowie" joins the kids, so yes the Falcon can crash lol
It does this because if you dont touch anything for long enough it goes into auto pilot so when everybody doesnt touch anything the ride goes into full autopilot mode as a result
Ah, back in the 'olden days' you just sat in a ride and were amazed and entertained. But since video games became popular we have got more used to actually doing something, rather than just sitting and consuming. Disney feels the need to give that illusion to some extent, I guess.
I have a theory about the one coaxium that you managed to grab. You went without engineers, who has the job of firing the hooks. Just like if no one uses the lightspeed lever, the ship still goes to light speed. Maybe if you have someone in the seats to purposely misfire, you ight get away with zero coaxium.
I just went on the ride where I was the right pilot and honestly couldn't tell if I was controlling it or not. Growing up I played a lot of X-wing and flight sims and was extremely disappointed with it. Do you know if you pull up if it actually makes the ship fly up or do you think it's just a few predetermined moments where you'll bump something or not?
Before you start or when it's open does the ride take a picture of you that you can buy? I think I want a shot of me in the cockpit more then I want to play the game
@@OrdinaryAdventures ah ok, seems like a missed opportunity. You can get the group shot from the angle we see in all the movies. That would be awesome. Thanks.
