I think COD's issue is that they're trying to capture the cosmetic scene of Fortnite without adapting the gameplay. Fortnite is colorful and goofy, what they add fits. COD is adding these unrealistic and cartoonish skins to their serious, not at all self aware game, and they act so serious about it. Cole War worked because the maps and feel of the game actually matched the blueprints.
100% agree. They did a good job with MW2019, because it had less of those goofy rainbow cosmetics, but after Cold War and Vanguard they went all out. I wish they went back with MW2019 aesthetic. Sure it’s not realistic, but it was a perfect balance between realism and the arcade style CoD shooter. I hope they do it again with MW3 but I have low expectations.
If not wrong I think part of 3arch studio took part with the cosmetics this time around sadly. Their selection of fits we got this year has been over the top nonsense. I’m not saying it ruins the immersion but nothing is “tacticool” at all. Bought 2 bundles and the last one I got was released S2.
I think one issue is people confuse Realism and Immersion. CoD can still have the arcadey gameplay while having the presentation of authenticity with the visual aspects of the game like animations and skins but the monetization model kinda ruins the authenticity part and some gameplay changes kinda betray the arcadey gameplay
This is exactly my thoughts, I've always said cod has always had a realistic artstyle and setting while the gameplay was not milsim, which I think is what it should have stayed, yet ironically it feels like they want to do the opposite by adding fortnite skins but making climbing a wall slower than the speed an obese person can run up a flight of stairs.
i think war thunder did that good, for those who want a pretty realistic experience they can turn off all unrealistic decals and accesories that the game has, and those who dont care can keep it turned on
People these days aren't aware enough to understand the ludonarrative dissonance between how something looks and how something plays. I don't think people even realize just how pervasive arcade elements are in a ton of other tac/Sim-lite shooters
The funniest thing about hearing these kinds of things is remembering 12 years ago about people yelling at each other that CoD was realistic. Now its the opposite. Realistic gameplay isn't inherently bad, it's just how it is implemented. From the looks of it, yearly releases just forces the studios to half-bake ideas.
This is a great point actually. This is exactly how I feel in the campaigns and I think you describe it perfectly. In the campaigns it's def unrealistic, but I feel hella immersed in the world and my role as this badass operator. And whenever the multiplayer sticks with that milsim aesthetic (like in MW19) then I still feel immersed. But seeing all these goofy ass skins and effects in the game completely breaks the immersion and I feel like it's such a slap in the face to those who want to maintain that milsim aesthetic (esp when their marketing emphasized it sm)
coming from a arma 3 player with 3k hours, i think cod makes you feel like the main character in an action movie, and most milsims makes you feel like one of the faceless grunts in the background and thats why both milsim and cod like games have their places in the gamin world (amongst other things of course)

One other big difference is weapon damage and ttk. The only milsim I’ve played is Insurgency Sandstorm and in that game the damage you do is based mostly off the caliber of bullet. For example the mg3 is a machine gun with high caliber rounds that can one shot to the chest even though it already has a ridiculously high fire rate. This is balanced out by it being harder to wield and other guns only taking one or two shots to kill
This is what happens when you give a creator the time he needs to get shit done, *THIS* is content! Great stuff as always Hunter, much love and thanks for the inspiration! 🤙🔥
I wish there was a game that played like CoD but had a grounded ascetic. The pre-season in CoD is always the best time for a CoD game, right before they start adding wacky stuff to the store. We won't even get that in MW3 :(

That second chapter really hits home. Perfectly summarizes my slow decent into madness as I have watched one of the most realistic-looking games I've ever played into one of the most sinful pieces of digital media I've ever seen.
I miss the kind of subtle immersion of the old cods where the skins and maps made sense within the context of the game’s world and story back in like 2013 and before. It wasn’t ever realistic but you it just had that feel to it
"in mil-sims you are the side character" same used to be in cod where you were just regular soldiers in the multiplayer, shame what theyve done to the game for money
I love how the mw online gameplay starts off. Mw 2019 and mwII both had realistic, yet unique skins and and a cool anesthetic. Mw2019 took about 6 months before it went crazy and mwII took like a month or 2.
I tried Operation Harsh Doorstop early beta and boy I was not ready for the actual realism. I can feel like I'm slowly developing a PTSD hearing gunshots, bullets flying over my head while I'm a trenches, near misses, and many more. Sadly couldn't play the multiplayer coz i think at that time there's no server available
Seeing This Made Me Realize Why I Love Call of Duty So Much, It Makes You Do Funny And Unreal Business And You Can Get Away With it Feeling Like You Accomplished Something. Multiplayer Being An Arcade And Hanging With The People You Love Is A WONDERFUL Feeling Regardless Of Victory Or Defeat.
Love your vids! Haha, COD is the last thing I would imagine to be "realistic" lol. It's the epitome of what if action movies were a video game series! Also, an rpg wouldn't instantly blow up a helicopter or whatever irl. Depends on where you hit it. I mean yeah, the shrapnel would definitely fukk you up! The way the grenades work in the game though are pretty realistic imo. You'll be half a mile away and that shite still kills you! Haha
what i enjoy from milsim game is the build-up, you briefed with your team of what your objective and what to do, you are then preparing your gear and your loadout, you walked and entered the helicopter and dropping into the area of operation. then you are there, you and your squad readying since dying meant you wont come back (you do but not in the area you died in), you scoured the area for potential enemy, no encounter for 10 minutes or more, civillian could be a potential enemy as you see alot of them bustling along the streets. build-up of dread is what got me hooked onto milsim games
I've been saying this for years. CoD has always been a fun arcade shooter that makes you feel badass at the cost of realism. But that's okay, because not every video game needs to be realistic. CoD sudden started to try and pretend like it's a realistic shooter when it's far from it. It hurts the games so much that it makes them basically unplayable for most people, because they keep trying to change what made CoD it's own thing and what made it fun. That, and they're trying to suck up as much money as the can possibly get.
14:10 yes call of duty has an amazing concept and execution it’s just that the devs don’t really gaf abt the community or listen and don’t necessarily fix their games, if they took this same route their going but actually started listening to the community and fixing their bugs and games the games would be amazing
I played mostly CoD 3 and some of the Blops series (WaW, 1 and 2) I liked the gameplay, and I liked the authenticity of the theme they were going for in those games. I was hoping that CoD was going to go back to sticking to that authenticity in MWII 2022 because that's what they promised. Now we have cat skins and superheroes with santa claus and rabbits and animated tracers and celebrities...it's just...depressing... I get that CoD is supposed to be a fun-first arcade shooter but these cosmetic additions were never in CoD's original DNA. While arcadey, yes, it was the authenticity to the theme they portrayed that drew me into CoD in those days. I just don't see it anymore. Everything has to be goofy and chasing fortnite.
It's a newer generation type thing that is why every day I'm slowly losing interest in COD, hoping one day there is a game that is immersive while having the arcade gameplay of cod
OH NY GOD HUNTER YOUR BACK I just kept watching your your old videos bro they never get old I kept watching the dmz and mastery camo I love you hunter good to see your back man
Hunter also forgot one thing about cod vs milsim games, in cod, your kills killstreak is ai generated and can always be shot down whereas in milsim the killstreak is manned and _will_ be shot down; not before dispensing its load killing one person.
I admit I enjoy Squad alot more than MWII, but comparing the 2 doesn’t make sense since one is just for fun and the other tries to simulate real life combat. Also you can play 3 SnD rounds in CoD before you even reach your first firefight in a Squad match, and sometimes the games drag on for hours
Yes, Hunter hit the nail on the head, Those feel good COD moments are like crack, they always come back for more by the millions, As reflected by COD's sales, well done Activision mission accomplished
I love cod and i love some milsim type games like insurgency sandstorm and hell let loose. The milsim games are just satisfying and more intense i could walking around a field for 5 mins and be so immersed in the moment that when i die i dont even care. And cod is well cod its a fast paced game with tons of action.
Great video man! You make some great points. But I can't enjoy CoD anymore, it doesn't respect my money or my time. They said it's going to be a two year game, so I got the vault edition, they lied and launching MW3 this year. The battlepass is like getting a second job. I play on PC, had 90-100 FPS on Al-Mazrah at the beginning, 4 weeks ago I barely had 50 FPS on average on Vondel. The net code and servers poor and I can't remember the last time I had a match without lag or stutters. Activision are truly the worst.
I think at least one person in this comment section has been killed off by a fire extinguisher after being at 1HP in either MW2019 or MW2022. Why they still make fire extinguishers deal damage, I don't know.
I think it’d be neat if they could do both like I prefer the milsim skins but Idc what others use but it seems like in mw2 the milsim skins kinda got the shaft
The thing in cod they used a type C which is for electrical fires and uses Gas, while he used a type A foam extinguisher. So that might make a difference
phenomenal video starting with a great hook, and content that kept me engaged throughout the entirety of the rest of the video. hunter your channel is truly goated
COD was and is not meant to be a realistic game, it's meant to be a fun arcadic FPS game, and that's why we love it in the first place. (Also great vid as always Hunter)
I'm sorry but coming from a family of American Competition Shooters and Arms Dealers hearing people say that anything about call of duty is realistic is very confusing. I only just got into these games recently. Y'all in the COD fanbase literally shifted the interest focus of people buying guns in this country but it wasn't toward practicality. Y'all started the modern age of what my father lovingly refers to as "ugly gun collection" but I always assumed there was an awareness of the absence of grounded realism. What I have been seeing people say about The Boys update has confirmed this not to be the case... I hate to tell y'all this but Call of Duty plays like a an action thriller cooked up in Hollywood. Just because the men wearing the gear looks real, and the gear they are wearing looks real, and because the way they move and talk looks and feels real... (to someone with no experience) does not make the military action practical, grounded or realistic... and thats probably a good thing considering its a game that needs to be fun and exciting. I mean, I know my vet friends play stuff like this because the distance from reality is a kind of comforting action fantasy in a painful and upsetting world. This is a gameplay loop based around shooting people while running, diving, and duel wielding. Where you can stab a man in the back and he wont scream out to his friends. Where suppressors make guns quiet enough for fantasy wetwork. Laser beam firing superheros fit in with this because its movie level clownery... Which is totally fine... Just don't try to tell me a moderately quick TTK and 3d scans make for realism when juxtaposed with the other elements necessary to make call of duty a game.
Sometimes I forget Gringos can just freak around out in the wilds and shot guns at anything just because. Got some FPSRussia flashbacks with that intro.
HUNTER You are now the reason why i am grinding camos in Call Of Duty Mobile, I have done 8 Gold Skins now im 3 days, yea that sucks. but the thing is i aint giving up
Honestly I just wish they kept the aesthetic consistent. I don't mind if the whole lobby is zooming around with .50 BMG sniper rifles and hitting quickscopes left and right, but I hate seeing the campaign in MW2019 and MWII deal with heavy topics like terrorism and war crimes and then they expect me to continue to take the game seriously when I go into multiplayer and see a dude wearing fox ears executing someone with a gun plastered with anime stickers. I don't see why they can't go back when this is exactly how they did things from the first COD in 2003 up until they added clowns in Advanced Warfare
14:25 thats the whole point, i play most milsim games because it makes you feel unimportant while still having moments like in call of duty that makes it even more satisfying
CoD never really tried to be realistic and thats what most people misunderstand when they say they want the game or the skins to be more realistic. I think what they actually mean is authentic. Fortnite for instance will always be the goofy/funny br game and the community doesn't have a problem with that at all. But the problem for cod is that the game is getting more and more adapted to something like that: goofy but in a cringe/ unfunny way. I think what the cod community is talking about is actually the tacticool/ badass factor which cod was always about. Thats what most of the players really miss these days... And thats maybe why a lot of them really liked the campaign but hated the multiplayer. Strangely enough does the campaign always stick to that badass/ tacticool style while the multiplayer is moving to a completely different direction.

Every video makes me want to come (back for more)
Every video just blows me (away)
I have no words
He really is hot (nah it was meant to be gay🤷🏾♂️)
One other big difference is weapon damage and ttk. The only milsim I’ve played is Insurgency Sandstorm and in that game the damage you do is based mostly off the caliber of bullet. For example the mg3 is a machine gun with high caliber rounds that can one shot to the chest even though it already has a ridiculously high fire rate. This is balanced out by it being harder to wield and other guns only taking one or two shots to kill
bro i dont even play cod anymore but your content is GODTIER
4:18 fun fuct:
Most americans in dday were killed by mortars not mg42 (around three times more kills than mg42 actually)
This is what happens when you give a creator the time he needs to get shit done, *THIS* is content! Great stuff as always Hunter, much love and thanks for the inspiration! 🤙🔥
I waited a whole month for this moment…stoked to see hunter post again!
1:52 loved this I actually laughed bc I didn’t see it coming
People used to thought COD was realistic until realized its actually the inner super soldier with the lethal BB guns
I wish there was a game that played like CoD but had a grounded ascetic. The pre-season in CoD is always the best time for a CoD game, right before they start adding wacky stuff to the store. We won't even get that in MW3 :(
I like the accurate uniforms whenever he talks which cod and milsim games takes place in, really shows hunters dedication to these videos
2:37 I’m so glad I’m not the only one who new about them reusing 7 year old skins only real ones know
Imagine starting as a funny call of duty.exe memer and evolving into an actualy good content creator, what a tale that is...
It's been a pleasure watching you grow man, keep it up, this shit is great.
This is the first vid I've watched from you, and I really liked it. Loved seeing your comparison between the two genres, really sums up a lot of things perfectly and in such a funny way lol
glad you liked it and i hope you enjoy the other videos! i’ve got a whole bunch for you to enjoy😁
1:57 bunny was like: "You question my existence?!?"
That second chapter really hits home. Perfectly summarizes my slow decent into madness as I have watched one of the most realistic-looking games I've ever played into one of the most sinful pieces of digital media I've ever seen.
You don't like homelander doing a laser beam execution from halfway across the map after emptying an entire lmg mag into a waifu emo skin?
It's always a good vibe when HunterTV uploads!
Call of Duty Week 1: Dark, Gritty, and Realistic
Call of Duty Week 2: Anime skins, Weird crossovers, and lots of F's in the chat
launch vs season 1

EPIC BRO!
@@rroy1985 it's a habit, sorry
I played mostly CoD 3 and some of the Blops series (WaW, 1 and 2)
I liked the gameplay, and I liked the authenticity of the theme they were going for in those games.
*Commits 1st degree murder* "what, bro?"
0:30 only good ideas with this fella
OH NY GOD HUNTER YOUR BACK I just kept watching your your old videos bro they never get old I kept watching the dmz and mastery camo I love you hunter good to see your back man
Hunter always dropping the best content 😎
thank you for watching!
8:43 "don't report it don't report it" 😂😂😂
Yes, Hunter hit the nail on the head, Those feel good COD moments are like crack, they always come back for more by the millions, As reflected by COD's sales, well done Activision mission accomplished
Hunter the only content creator I know that looks back on ghosts fondly, respect.
I love cod and i love some milsim type games like insurgency sandstorm and hell let loose. The milsim games are just satisfying and more intense i could walking around a field for 5 mins and be so immersed in the moment that when i die i dont even care. And cod is well cod its a fast paced game with tons of action.
Hunter you never miss bro, always making bangers
Great video man! You make some great points. But I can't enjoy CoD anymore, it doesn't respect my money or my time. They said it's going to be a two year game, so I got the vault edition, they lied and launching MW3 this year. The battlepass is like getting a second job. I play on PC, had 90-100 FPS on Al-Mazrah at the beginning, 4 weeks ago I barely had 50 FPS on average on Vondel. The net code and servers poor and I can't remember the last time I had a match without lag or stutters. Activision are truly the worst.
this editing is beautiful 🥹
Always love to see a video from Hunter, no one makes content like you man❤💯
I think at least one person in this comment section has been killed off by a fire extinguisher after being at 1HP in either MW2019 or MW2022.
Why they still make fire extinguishers deal damage, I don't know.
Maybe cuz hazardous when inhaled I guess if irl, unless with a mask like a gas mask, and then adding that to the game for some reason
I think it’d be neat if they could do both like I prefer the milsim skins but Idc what others use but it seems like in mw2 the milsim skins kinda got the shaft
why is every video better than the last one brooooooooooooooooo, top tier as always!!
there are differences in fire extinguishers.
maybe some compositions would be more explosive. Especially with quick loss of pressure.
The thing in cod they used a type C which is for electrical fires and uses Gas, while he used a type A foam extinguisher. So that might make a difference
We all know that HunterTV videos about cod is the best 🔥🔥🔥
0:20 The Ghosts Vector uses 9mm ??
Every single video is so good bro , pls never rush content just for volume , this shit is perfect
Realistic no, but the thing i loved about the older games is authenticity
phenomenal video starting with a great hook, and content that kept me engaged throughout the entirety of the rest of the video. hunter your channel is truly goated
COD was and is not meant to be a realistic game, it's meant to be a fun arcadic FPS game, and that's why we love it in the first place. (Also great vid as always Hunter)
thank you! hope the ending made you feel a conclusion
"GOOD SHOT MAN"
Famous last words
12:33 Duuutch moment
Releasing a video the same day as the MW3 gameplay reveal. Smart
12:09 bro 💀????
Hell no.. ninjas sliding across concrete like ice... Shooting at the same time
12:39 DUUUUTCH
Haha the win squealing at the end was too relatable.
And who doesn’t live for that final kill cam.
Just don't try to tell me a moderately quick TTK and 3d scans make for realism when juxtaposed with the other elements necessary to make call of duty a game.
cod boys don't self clown challenge
Sometimes I forget Gringos can just freak around out in the wilds and shot guns at anything just because.
Got some FPSRussia flashbacks with that intro.
Nobody wants COD to be realistic
Warzone specially
Lmao I expect COD to be a joke. You ever play the original COD?
@@chaosXP3RTDying and then coming back isn't realistic
@@IdonmNtknow So no, you have not played the original CoD. I highly recommend playing Call of Duty (2003).
@@chaosXP3RT Ok thanks for that
Tbh I think sandstorm is like
a perfect middle ground of cod and milsim
2:27 racism
Roll the clip where hunter said that it stopped focusing on looking like fortnite and focus on the war aspect.
The quality improves every video, congratulations hunter
HUNTER You are now the reason why i am grinding camos in Call Of Duty Mobile, I have done 8 Gold Skins now im 3 days, yea that sucks. but the thing is i aint giving up
Glad to see him make a video that's not just about war zone. I like the funny edits
4:31 yup we've all been there before when the teammate arty players drop a arty shell on your head.
Been waiting for you to pop up hunter lol nice vid g
bro you just destroy the cod game you are the best keep going
0:14 there are other types of extinguishers so you have to use the right one
14:25 thats the whole point, i play most milsim games because it makes you feel unimportant while still having moments like in call of duty that makes it even more satisfying
the edit after the fire extinguisher straight gold
The way that Josh says "what bro" when he killed everyone in the room
content always worth the wait!
i remember at 6 am after a full night of warzone ranked coop with my roomate we met a lobby ( when we hear everyone) no one scream and 20 people just said hello x) it happens one time, it was so unreal x)
I play so much insurgency sandstorm that I end being the last one alive and if we lose a round to a bad teammate I turn into a drill instructor
2:08 would be mine reaction to seeing that
When u are experienced survival gamer. It sets u up pretty well for any game.
Been watching since 2020 I just love these vids I watch em over and over they’re so good🗣️
Common W Hunter video. Glad you got back to what it feels like to love CoD. I'm slowly getting there as well, hyped for MW3!
Nicely edited really good work with lighting amazing
