    I equalize my ears even when on an airplane. I do it before it takes off and before landing so the pressure change isn't as painful. Super useful for air travel and swimming :) was so glad I learned it from freedivers.

    I've known about the equalization-nose-pinch trick for years but I never knew about the jaw-movement or the descent-on-an-angle options. Thank you so much for sharing these helpful hints, Marielle, and for showing us why equalization techniques are so important. (Also, great to see once again that you're as graceful underwater WITHOUT a tail as you are WITH a tail! You could have been a great synchronized swimmer. You could STILL be a great synchronized swimmer!) Merci beaucoup, encore!!!

    I’m a free diver and learning how to equalize your ears is the first and most important lesson. If you can’t equalize, you can’t dive.

    Can you hear better underwater when you equalize your ears?

  • @laiilivin

    I think I should start cleaning my ears better cause when I dive my ears don’t hurt at all..

    One thing not mentioned in this video is how to prevent water getting into the ear. One option is earplugs, but the more natural technique is to not tilt your head sideways.
    Do not allow your ear to point up to the surface of the water, because that position will allow the bubble in your ear canal to escape, letting water in.

    Sometimes just swallowing can help. Kinda the same thing as moving the jaw.

      Try a weight belt or blowing all the air out of your lungs.

    • @boiseuy7759
      @boiseuy7759 4 года назад

      Jonah Paty I don’t got money for a weight belt and even when I do that I kinda just sit there I don’t sink or come back and it’s hard to stay under for more the 12 seconds for me

      @@boiseuy7759 Try looking down then throw your legs straight up like you're trying to do a handstand. The weight of your legs will push you under, then start kicking and try to swim down. Good luck

    This video doesn't live up to it's title. Click Bait. It doesn't show you at all how to actually dive to the bottom of the pool. Instead, all she's talking about here is how to keep your ears from hurting once you get down there. I can't believe she actually believed that she showed anyone on this video how to actually dive to the bottom and touch the pool.

    • @JT-gq8wv
      @JT-gq8wv 20 дней назад

      Sinus congestion = compression pain.
      Take an anti-histamine prior to diving.
