Good review!! I’m mostly just transporting 1 bike 90% of the time so this is what I need. Got a full size tailgait pad for MTB trips with friends when needed!
Think maybe the loops are for an additional strap on wheel so that "second bikes wheel wont rub". Just got this for my F250 and fits well, as for two bikes I'll just have to wait and keep encouraging the wife to ride with instead of hiking the trails 🤣.
I carry a heavy Santa Cruz chameleon (35lbs) and a cannondale taurine (15lbs). And they stay in place! You would think taking turns fast it would slap and or lean…both bikes are very stable!
Thought this smaller pad was a good idea since I'm usually taking 1-2 bikes around. Thanks to your review I will be sticking with my full size pad. Can't see how thats not gonna leave marks on the tail gate in the long run, maybe a tail gate wrap?
There is no touching the truck with 1 bike. With 2 bikes, if you'll just use a bungee cord to pull the 2 tires together, you won't have any touching the truck either. You can't get around (at least that I've found) having the lowers of the forks touching. I agree though that for frequent 2 bike use, this might not be robust enough for some, especially those who have the option to run a larger pad.
Very helpful-thanks! I have a Honda Ridgeline with just under 50” inside tailgate width, so this looks like the best solution since I only need to haul 1-2, but could get another one if I need to haul more.
Probably can put a yellow microfiber towel behind that second bike wheel so the towel is between the wheel and tailgate to push the tire away from the paint. Tie it down with a long zip tie through the spoke and should be good to go
Awesome review! I am in the market for a pad and found a good deal on the Evoc. I have a Nissan Frontier and I think I'm going to get the one that covers the full tailgate..Subscribed! Cheers man!
@@nickbenjaminmarshall I got the same one like he has in the video but it's the one that holds 5 bikes. It was the medium I believe. Made for midsize trucks. I love it. I reviewed it on my channel.
what would you guess is the weight of the pad itself? I'm taking a MTB trip this fall and renting a pickup at our destination. Thinking of bringing one of these with me on the plane.
Looks like they should have just made this as a single bike pad lol. First glance at this thing and I knew trying to put 2 bikes on there would be awkward at the least.
GETTA EXTRA LARGE "POOL NOODLE", CUT IT DOWN THE CENTER, AND WRAP IT AROUND YOUR TIRE, THE WEIGHT OF THE BIKE SINCHED DOWN WILL KEEP THE NOODLE FROM FLYING, SO THE 2ND BIKE TIRE DOESN'T TOUCH THAT NICE PAINT
EVOC Tailgate Pad will 100% tear up your paint and if you're out there in rough fire roads, it will sand your downtube down to the bare carbon or alloy. Use a pool noodle to buffer otherwise kiss your paint goodbye. Totally disappointing.
Great video! You could always buy two and use one on each side of the truck lid. Even for a small sized truck two should fit.

I think you’ll like it for sure
Ace review I'm with you, over in Scotland and solo ride alot, got mates coming up from England next month so will get the big one as well.
Wow those are really awesome looking mountain bikes!

Excellent review, many thanks from Germany. 👍 Think I’ll go for the Evoc, but probably the full length version.
just picked mine up. good quality.

This thing is phenomenal…I wonder if it’s durable enough to run thru the car wash?

I'm several months down the road and still using the Duo almost daily!
Thank you for posting this thorough review!
Thanks for watching!
Great video ! Just got a new truck , so will look into this product !!
Just took mine on a 9 1/2 hour road trip and still loving it.

Have you tried that? Did it stay in place? Thanks
Why don’t you just put the wheels the opposite way?

Hey Ty, I also have a Nissan Frontier. Which one did you get, and how do you like it?

You should review the BomberStrap and compare both opinions
Fantastic review!
With two bikes, is it possible to put the wheels in opposing directions to avoid any touching of the tailgate? Or would that work?
In this configuration, the second bike doesn't really sit down on the pad well in my experience.
Yeah i got the 6 bikes one...main issue ? Jt cam
Got it for my F150, only thing it will not cover all the tail gate door.
Does the wheel at least make contact with the pad? I'm considering buying for my Silverado 1500. How much tailgate was still showing? Thanks!
Great review. Just need for 1 bike, but have a full size Silverado. How tall is your tailgate?
what would you guess is the weight of the pad itself? I'm taking a MTB trip this fall and renting a pickup at our destination. Thinking of bringing one of these with me on the plane.
Thank you, I was interested until I saw how close the two bikes are, and the wheel touching your truck
You should get a tow hitch rack then
Same, I just don’t get how any of the companies don’t make a flap or a hair wider for the second tire
Thanks man for this!!
Thanks mate
Wouldn’t the tires not touch the truck if you spun them the other way?
I have a tonnauo cover. Do you leave it on all the time or only when you go riding?
put a rubber mat underneath the tailgate pad that is longer, and the 2nd bike tire won't rub your paint...it rubs the rubber mat

Still use it for 2 bikes daily

Hi! Does anyone know if these pads are ok for carbon bikes ? It looks like a lot of pressure for the frame..
its fine. think of the pressure the frames endure when you're riding them. this is nothing.
You should sell me one of those dope bikes!
There is a bigger Evoc for 4 bikes
What model is the purple one
Santa Cruz 5010 V3
Oh no. It’s hitting the tailgate. Mmmmm.
Omg , another bad design where it’s for 2 bikes but doesn’t protect the tailgate!
Yeah, isn’t that kind of crazy? And disappointing.

I was going to ask about the downtube getting rubbed from the strap after time. Sounds like it maybe an issue
Lol
@@aleon426 it’s just fine.
It’s too narrow.
