I ran across this video and although I always enjoy your videos this one broke my heart. For over a week I've watched all the coverage about the destruction hurricane Dorian caused to this area. To now see how beautiful it was? Broke my heart. The turquoise house, gas station, the bakery ECT ECT. These are places that I've seen over and over on the news or RUclips. As they are now. I just hope everyone will continue to pray for Abaco and give generously to one of the many organizations trying to help those who have lost everything.
Yes, it's an incredible tragedy and it'll take many years to return to anything approaching normal. Nikki and Jason posted some tips for making your donations count: www.gonewiththewynns.com/scammed-donation-natural-disasters Curious Minion
i am always surprised at the variety of clothes you wear nikki! i like your style. i had just imagined that there is simply not enough room for a good assertment of clothes like you have-an that one is relugated to a change of 4 or 5 items until they literally fall off you from wear and tear - but i guess not!
I don't think Nikki has ever wore anything twice since I have been watching the boat vids. Maybe thats why their videos are so great. You Go Girl.......
What I really like about this is the chats between you too it's much more natural. Like the part where your where self conscious about not having a top on, I'm the same ! My wife is always like what's the problem :-)
In 1968 my family moved to Marsh Harbour & I went to school there. It was fun, to play on the limestone & climb up the hill, to go to the beaches & ride in boats around the island. Once we went to the southern end, not far from Sandy Point & my dad rode in a row boat out to a much larger boat. He climbed up the rope ladder of the larger boat. It was cool in the breeze & shade from all the trees near the shore, & it WAS VERY SANDY there. When he climbed down & came back he had a whole crate of lobsters. We took those home & ate all of them right away. Some don’t like to hear this, but I put Catsup on mine, I was only 9 years old, & it WAS VERY GOOD! Today I am looking for info about hurricane Dorian, which is about to do serious damage to Marsh Harbour, & all of Abaco Island. I’m trying to see how things are there for the people there...to see the news about them, & I can’t find much news about either. Thank you for the tour, hope you are safe wherever you are now 🙂
Your smile at 2:19 is funny. It's like "Sorta a real grocery store!" Oh yea the prices... And more than two Kalik Golds, you will feel it! Good work guys!
11:20 Jason - you need to get your heavy sea legs. That's what it will be like a lot, especially on the west coast. A tip for the dinghy in weather like that. Try to get on a plane (as boaters I assume you know what this is) and the ride will be a bit rough getting up on it but when you plane your bow will be at the perfect angle to slice through the oncoming wave and just when the bow is about to dip it will reach another wave giving you a much smoother ride. That or you could get a mini hydrofoil.
Love being a part of your new journey. Growing sprouts is so easy in a small space in the right sprouter. This could supplement your veggie budget. We lived in an RV and grew enough for several salads and supplementing cooked dishes per week in Sproutamo sprouters. We had 7 of them going at once and harvested every few days to weekly. We transferred cans of sprout seeds to bags so we could tuck them into small spaces.
For me it is very interesting to learn about the locations you visit. Not only about Venice but about the life of people on such small islands. So the bikes are great for me. But electric bikes with a kind of folding trailers for things you buy. .
A great video showing the prices in the stores and restaurants. It is what it is, everything is imported and that's the price of paradise. Odd that some items seem relatively reasonable while others are sky high. Good info for provisioning in the States before crossing over. Nice job!!!
Thanks for all the information, sometimes it's best to learn from others than to figure things out! On the ice cream front, have you considered just making it?? It does require AC power, and a freezer to freeze the canister (we have a Cuisinart ice cream machine), but we don't buy ice cream much anymore because it's so easy to make. Vanilla is bad with 3 cups half and half, 1 cup whipping cream, 1 cup whole milk, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 tsp vanilla (the fat ratio for the milk is important for smoothness) Throw it all in a mixing bowl, set it in your fridge overnight, then pour into the unit and freeze. Throw in 2 tbsp of any 80 proof alcohol to make it smoother. Make different flavors by using the above ratios and throw in cocoa powder, infuse with peanuts, add cinnamon, even wasabi paste to taste to get different flavors. Butter pecan is to die for (use brown sugar instead of white sugar and brown the pecans in butter). My wife's favorite is my version of cherry garcia using dried cherries soaked in dark spiced rum and shaved dark Ghiradelli chocolate! I like being able to adjust the ingredients to suit our tastes instead of letting Ben and Jerry decide how it will taste. I've never tried, but you might be able to get away with using almond milk for part of the liquid ingredients. Anyway .. thanks again for sharing!
I was in Marsh Harbor in the early 1980's. The big thing they were excited about was the new/first traffic light on the island. It will be interesting to see how the bikes hold up in a salt water environment.
You guys inspire me, Thank you so much for sharing ! My Fiance and I may be planning to head down there within 5 years , we love your videos and enjoy your company, Good luck and Good sailing in the days moving forward !
Aww!! the bicycles, I did see them when you are shifting from RV to curiosity but did not see them ever since, so I thought that you guys might have sold them but now I'm happy that you got them(BTW bicycles are awesome)
That was a nice video i actually felt like i was there. Thanks for showing the prices at the grocery stores. me and my wife want to visit the Bahamas sometime soon and that was a big help. Thanks!
we were in the Bahamas at the same time as this video. with regards to the Internet speeds I think what is happening is there is still a lot of storm damage to the infrastructure from the hurricane last fall, at least that was the case on Grand Bahama. I built high speed infrastructure for 15 years and my opinion is that damage in the more remote areas is causing system wide slow downs. Many locals told me that speed was better prior to the hurricane. Hopefully it will get better the longer you're there.
Thanks for that, was good getting a glimpse of some of the everyday chores that are needed to be done that usually aren't mentioned, like food shopping. Its amazing wherever you go to see the difference in the pricing of food etc but even more so in places like that. And its always fun trying to work your way back into the traffic in another place and especially when they actually travel on the opposite side of the road to what you're use to, looks like you both handled it just fine though. Anyway, looking forward to the next one. Cheers for now... ;-}
Love it, envy your trip, somewhat. We spent 2 weeks in Abaco, family trip for our youngest son's high school graduation. I hope y'all had fun. Beautiful place, I grew up about a mile from Maxwell's before moving to the US for college. Still longing for Abaco.
It seemed like a long time since you last video guys! Everything seems so amazing! I promise you when you sail to Greece you can have all the Greek yogurt you want!Have fun!
Living on an island I got so used to driving on the left side it just seems more natural now. If I’m turning onto any dirt road now I automatically choose the left side first even though I was raised driving on the right or am in a right handed country driving. On paved roads I’m usually ok but when the road turns to dirt, I have to question it! Lol!
I would still be standing at the one store trying to decide if I have been good enough to deserve buying some. Oh and your last video you really teased me LOL Cookies and vanilla ice cream. I would like to know who got that second bowl just parked on the table waiting to be eaten. I never have drank or smoked in my life so I know I deserve lots of ice cream LOL. Just some positive feed back for both of you. It is so nice to see such happiness and smiles on your faces. It's as if finally you both have really found peace and happiness now that your on your boat. Ok enough of that i'am hitting the freezer for some ice cream. Cheers
I luv the 2 of u and what u guys r doing, keep up the great sailing. Maybe some day we will cross paths, God willing. Here's a lil food 4 thought: keep the bikes & at the end of this episode, Jason u were the deckhand & Nikki was the skipper. Godspeed on ur journeys!
I remember Guam was RIDICULOUS!!!! I went to an Applebees with my roommate and the lunches were $20 a person. The military apparent whenever starting a project would make an estimate based on mainland US fares and then multiple by 2.6. Double to cover shipping and .6 for unforeseen problems.
I really enjoy your videos and have for several years. Thanks for all the work that goes into each one! Please ignore all of the snarky comments people have made below. I've never seen such rudeness. Where are peoples manners and civility? If people don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all, please.
Hello Wynns! Another great video, thanks for sharing. I was wondering if you have to lock your dingy (like we lock bikes) at the little dock when you go to the grocery? Thanks!
We want to answer a few of the most common questions in one spot here: - Microgreens: We love this idea and have thought about purchasing some seeds when we return to Ft Lauderdale - Mail Videos on a drive: This would only be possible if we had a huge backlog of videos completed, which is not the case. I'm not sure we'll ever be caught up enough to do this. - Make Ice Cream and Yogurt: Thanks for the tips, we hadn't really considered it before. - Food Prices: There is no secret grocery store for the locals, we did not visit some tourist market by the docks, food here is simply expensive. Most of the food comes from Florida on a barge, tax is added and prices are marked up by the store to cover these extra expenses. It's simply the way it is and we understand this: Food is expensive! But like we said in the video it's pretty much what we expected.
Well, you could go for a "mail a micro-sdcard" this would cost no extra and the microsd-cards are very robust. :) Would save you a bunch of money if someone just receive them and add them to a Remote Desktop or just Push them as Private Videos on RUclips, so you can add details and stuff remotely. :) Would save you so much time where you can simply shot nicer content than "this wifi is so slow" :D
I'm afraid you guys will be long gone (or maybe already gone) when we get to Marsh Harbour in late February. Erica was looking forward to paddle board yoga with you! :)
I am always sad @ the end of your videos, sad to have it end!!! Great seeing the fu journey you both are on!!! stay safe and enjoy!!! ps; I would have picked up ice cream too!!!!
Have you two ever thought of growing microgreens? They are pretty compact and sunflower seeds actually grow totally fast. That could give you your veggies super cheap and they are power packed. Microgreen salad, lobster tail and a glass of wine! Cheers!
On my last night of a weeks stay on St Thomas I found a six pack of Sam Adams Boston lager in the beer section of a local bodega all by it's lonesome. I was pleasantly shocked to find that it cost the same as the local beer.
Hahahaha beer always trumps coffee, especially after a bike ride in search of wifi !!Jason, " tastes like beer" classic line ! Fair Wynns and Following Seas Curiosity !
The bikes look a bit bulky, but if you have the room for them on board they do offer a level of mobility to you. But it is something else to have, clean, store, and lug... do you see many other cruisers with bikes on board?
They drive on the left and most of the wheels are on the left too. Made driving their different but I caught in after 3 or 4 accidents. LOL... It was easy to catch...
Thanks for being real. I love to watch your videos. You seem to consider things like we would. I definitely think you should buy the gigs instead of spending so much time looking for a good WiFi connection. I think that looks like a $21 haul here in the states.
I mentioned this on one of your earlier videos, so sorry for the repeat if you saw it there... If you put your videos on a thumb drive and mailed them to Florida, they would get there in 3-4 days. You'd have to get someone to upload them for you, but it actually might be faster than what you are doing. Just a thought...
I dont know how far you are ahead in your upload schedule but make sure you visit Staniel Cay in the Exumas. A drink on me at the Staniel Cay yacht club when you get there.
I laughed when you opened your grocery bag . I saw your Driscoll strawberries only cost $2.99. I live in NH near the Canadian border and pay $6.99 for the same container. Strawberries are one of the only fruits that my son eats so it's a must every week. Maybe my son and I will have to move onto a boat in the Bahamas to save money. I love your videos and also started watching you guys from the beginning when you were buying your first rv. I have dreamed of getting a power catamaran and homeschooling my son in the Bahamas. He has autism and it seems like I do a better job than the public school. Anyway, you guys are awesome.
Great vid. Interesting to see how relatively expensive it is to live on the islands. Be careful with your drone. Just heard that a fellow traveler had his confiscated and had to retrieve it from customs. Apparently you have to register it before you can use it.
Wi-fi hunting seems pretty bogus : ), I think if it's not already there, one of your patreon tiers could be to support fast internet access by satellite.
Have you guys considered getting and making home made ice cream. Microbrew some beers and also make your own alcohol on the boat, it's not hard and doesn't cost $15 for 2 beers.
It would make me believe that the locals would have more or even lots of farmers markets. If I was a local with a little land I’d have a cash crop even as a hobby.
Now I'm not a sailor but it would seem to me that the reason the kill switch has a clip on the other end is so you can attach it to yourself for the inevitable spill overboard. But, hey, I"m sure Niki will come back for you. lol
Oh dang. I need to go to the store to get a couple $5 things of Haagen Diaz and a nice block of Tilamook Cheddar cheese, made only 1 1/2 hour from where I live. :)
I thought I would be sad when you 4 left land for Sea. I am not!! You 4 are so much fun!! I counted the cats. I've been binge watching Again..lol... an then logging in on the comp, cause I watch from my tv. an check off the thumbs up, so if it looks like I only watched a tiny bit..its not true..lol...its cause I seen it already. now im just rambling, sorry.. I so enjoy you guys!!!♥
Hey guys love your vid's I was wondering if you could one time show us the night sky, a large moon and all the stars, on a clear night out in the middle of no where must be breathtaking! thanks
As always thanks for sharing. I was wondering if you will have a Q & A video again? With all this traveling as far as the boat is concern do you need special radio/communication gear? Till next post sail safe and see ya next time.
just an idea but you guys may want to get a pair of One Wheels or mini segways when back stateside, wont help with bulk transport of food but will allow a pretty good exploration range without the peddle workout...or maybe just a hub motor replacement for the bikes cause laziness for the win!!!
Great video, thank you... Have you decided about the bikes yet?!?! Do you keep them in one of the lockers??? Are they in the way??? If groceries are expensive how much would a cab ride be??? Or how long would it have taken to bum a ride??? Keep having fun, stay safe...
Hi guys! :) I know you had to add VAT and other taxes to your purchases in this video, but--just so you know--many of the shelf prices you paid at that last store (with all the Kirkland products) weren't *too* far off of what we pay here in Seattle at our local Costco! In other words, park your boat closer to that end of the island next time you visit!
There are many options for in motion satellite data services...and as you have previously mentioned, they're quite expensive. Have you considered reaching out to those providers and asked if they would be interested in sponsoring you with the equipment and service?
I haven't seen a married couple treat each other as well and show as much respect for each other as you two do....it is a joy to watch and nice to realize that such a thing is indeed possible.....for some. I can see that learning what and how to use the ocean's bounty would be very helpful to a budget. I think you two are opening many peoples realistic eyes.....like mine. Thank you once again.....
+Ed Rosenberger Awe, thanks!
Are we sure they're actually married? I'm pretty sure they've skirted the terminology the entire time they've been producing their show. They simply refer to themselves a "a couple of...." I've gone back & forth on guessing they're siblings to married to "open".... I've been curious--but it's none of my business. Love the videos, regardless! Kudos to you kids for living your dreams; and thank you for sharing with the rest of us out here.
ckeilah: They are a neat couple and I could care less about the legalities of their union....
Ed Rosenberger I could care less too, but prurient curiosity prevents it. I'm working on getting to the point where I couldn't care less. ;-)

Oh I remember the days of trying to grocery shop in the Bahamas... Which is probably why we spent those six weeks living off fish and rice, haha.
Thank you guys for searching for provisions and showing us the town at the same time. Thanks for the upload. Thinking of you often.
+Mack Nine Awe, thanks!
i am always surprised at the variety of clothes you wear nikki! i like your style. i had just imagined that there is simply not enough room for a good assertment of clothes like you have-an that one is relugated to a change of 4 or 5 items until they literally fall off you from wear and tear - but i guess not!
I don't think Nikki has ever wore anything twice since I have been watching the boat vids. Maybe thats why their videos are so great. You Go Girl.......
We have been using light weight, fold-up, stand up, electric scooters and back packs for all our long distance travels. Lots of fun and no sweating.
Keep the bikes if you will be cruising, they are a great way of moving an exploring new places.
Thanks for your vids, I enjoy them a lot!
What I really like about this is the chats between you too it's much more natural. Like the part where your where self conscious about not having a top on, I'm the same ! My wife is always like what's the problem :-)
I have watched many of the sailing blogs, yours is the best in my opinion. Congratulations, stay safe.

Thanks for giving us a peak in the Bahamas! Maybe we'll have to trade in our RV one day, too! :)

Hello Wynns! Another great video, thanks for sharing. I was wondering if you have to lock your dingy (like we lock bikes) at the little dock when you go to the grocery?
Thanks!
+desktoprover We do take precautions to secure the dinghy.
We want to answer a few of the most common questions in one spot here:
- Microgreens: We love this idea and have thought about purchasing some seeds when we return to Ft Lauderdale
- Mail Videos on a drive: This would only be possible if we had a huge backlog of videos completed, which is not the case. I'm not sure we'll ever be caught up enough to do this.

Gone with the Wynns How much is fresh water
They produce it for themselves on the boat via generator :)

Epic, your videos make my day, thank you so much for the effort, much love from Tucson Arizona.
The bikes look a bit bulky, but if you have the room for them on board they do offer a level of mobility to you. But it is something else to have, clean, store, and lug... do you see many other cruisers with bikes on board?
Love you guys, and wishing you well!!! But, man, this looks EXHAUSTING at times!!! Soldier on!!!!
Hi Jason,
Good to see that you are finally driving the dingy on the stbd (correct) side. You don't look as novice or crowded than before. Haha.
thanks for sharing your adventure
Nicely done.
They drive on the left and most of the wheels are on the left too. Made driving their different but I caught in after 3 or 4 accidents. LOL... It was easy to catch...
I have a friend from Nassau and she said they would fly to Miami every few weeks to bulk shop and the savings more than paid for the tickets!
Driving or pedaling on the left side gives me the willies. You sailors are a brave lot, argh!
Henry Reed, why? The left side is the correct side.
What a fun video! Very informative. I plan a trip to Abaco in the near future and your video was very helpful. Look forward to more from you two!!!
+steveo1kinevo You're on!
+Jonathan Aubin don't be fooled, most of the strawberries we've seen are $8-10 :)
I must say, sailing life sure looks more adventurous than RV'ing ... definitely living your life like it's golden :D
Great vid. Interesting to see how relatively expensive it is to live on the islands.
Be careful with your drone. Just heard that a fellow traveler had his confiscated and had to retrieve it from customs. Apparently you have to register it before you can use it.
There is something slightly different about your show, story and i really like it
Good Job
You need to sail back to FL for food!! Wow!
Damn girl, boat life is doing you good.
You need some satellite internet access and then you could start your own mobile coffee shop with fast Wifi at every port! :)
hmmmm, that sounds like a neat business :)
You should build a bike rack on the side of your boat... and then some racks on each side of the dingy!!!! That would be a sweet diy video!!!
You guys seem like old salts! You have taken to sailing like ducks to water. Amazed...
omg, if your sweaty after that short ride Jason . I'd turn to dust! Total dehydration.....D
Haha, yep it's a short sweaty ride...and it's WINTER!!!!!
Always awesome to see one of your new vids!!!
Moar please.
No ice cream at the 4km bulk store? WTH?
It would make me believe that the locals would have more or even lots of farmers markets. If I was a local with a little land I’d have a cash crop even as a hobby.
Now I'm not a sailor but it would seem to me that the reason the kill switch has a clip on the other end is so you can attach it to yourself for the inevitable spill overboard. But, hey, I"m sure Niki will come back for you. lol
Oh dang. I need to go to the store to get a couple $5 things of Haagen Diaz and a nice block of Tilamook Cheddar cheese, made only 1 1/2 hour from where I live. :)
Ha, rub it in why don't you :)
Yup! And I am not even eating sweets this month. (prepping for hunting season)
Another great video thanks for sharing ...
+ZMariaJZ So happy you've decided to stay onboard with us 😃
Hey guys love your vid's I was wondering if you could one time show us the night sky, a large moon and all the stars, on a clear night out in the middle of no where must be breathtaking! thanks
+Mark Stowers it's difficult to capture a large moon and lots of stars. I did a time lapse in the Munjack video and I will do more.
As always thanks for sharing. I was wondering if you will have a Q & A video again? With all this traveling as far as the boat is concern do you need special radio/communication gear? Till next post sail safe and see ya next time.
+Kirk H. There will be more Q&A's but can't tell you exactly when the next one will post.
just an idea but you guys may want to get a pair of One Wheels or mini segways when back stateside, wont help with bulk transport of food but will allow a pretty good exploration range without the peddle workout...or maybe just a hub motor replacement for the bikes cause laziness for the win!!!
Nikki, you are, The Master.
The temptation of leaving a comment on a 3 year old video is maddening.
Do it!!!!!
@@gonewiththewynns Whew, thank you.
Have you tried Yellowbird Habanera Hot Sauce? It's all natural, low salt and goes with everything, especially seafood.
Great video, thank you... Have you decided about the bikes yet?!?! Do you keep them in one of the lockers??? Are they in the way??? If groceries are expensive how much would a cab ride be??? Or how long would it have taken to bum a ride??? Keep having fun, stay safe...
Some of those cheese prices were the same as here in New Mexico, but the olive oil was crazy.
Captain and Commodore, I think that would define things as they are.
🖒Love your top at the beginning of the video Nikki.
Love your videos. Everyone is like a ray of sunshine!
One question - did you keep your bikes?
Stay safe.
you guys need to get some panniers for those bikes so you can carry more food and other items back
Great video!
There are many options for in motion satellite data services...and as you have previously mentioned, they're quite expensive. Have you considered reaching out to those providers and asked if they would be interested in sponsoring you with the equipment and service?
I just watched you two on the show Going RV on GAC... it was recorded in 2014-15..
That may have been made in 2014 but the original was filmed a couple year before by HGTV. It's crazy how much they re-run and re-use the same story.
