- How to Clean a Washing Machine to keep it Hygienically Fresh using Washing Machine Cleaner.
Cleaning a washing machine every few months or 30 washing cycles is essential to keep it tip top condition. If your washing machine smells it could be because it is dirty or you haven't used a hot washing cycle for a while.
I will show you all the steps to keep your Washing Machine clean and fresh and then finally I'll give a it a good sniff to make sure it's smelling fresh as a daisy.
So if your washing machine smells then this is the video for you! This is one of the ways on how to clean a front loading washing machine.

Also take the detergent drawer out periodically and clean inside and out (especially beneath) and finally always leave the door ajar after a washing cycle to allow the interior (drum) to dry - inhibiting the formation of damp/mildew/mold.. Cheers for your video Lurgs 👍👍👍👍👍

Maybe try some other programmes, I thought most washing machines had a 90c option

I washed my machine with soda crystals, washing powder and citric acid with a splash of Zoflora Lavender disinfectant...this was after I watched your video on how to unblock the filter/pump.
Yeh there's quite a few different ways to clean.

After each wash, I remove the drawer and dry it and dry the inside drawer area and leave the door open.

My mums washing machine has black stuff on the inside of the rubber seal that won't come off.
Any ideas how to remove that please?

Afraid not, it's very common. Just wipe it after every wash to clear any hairs or debris. Also leave Drum door and dispenser drawer slightly open after each wash, this helps with ventilation and prevents mould build up.

Hello , thanks for those videos , I have the same washing machine but I don't know why i don't see any foam inside the drum and I already used different washing detergent , what is the problem ?
What even on a service clean wash at 90c? It should foam up a lot
So your tip is to buy a wshing machine cleaning product, empty the powder inside the drum and press the button...
I bought my front loading washing machine in 2015 and I was a bit scared of the mold issue I have always heard about with front loaders. Thankfully I figured out that if I dry the door and the rubber ring after I finish laundry for the day and leave the door open over night I do not have any mold issues. I also leave the detergent drawer slightly open to let it dry out too. I do not have any small children at home so I have no worries about anyone climbing in the washer. We have very hard water in my area so about once a month I will run a vinegar cycle to clear any hard water crystals out of my washer and I also run a tub clean. These steps help keep my washer running and looking like new.
Yeh we always leave drum door and dispenser drawer ajar to help with ventilation.
If you don't use liquid detergent or fabric conditioner you will never have asmelly machine .stick with powder and vinegar for softener
My Bosch model has a drum descale option but it does not show the temperature of this program, what should I do, should I select this mode or cotton 60° mode??
sridipa thakur I expect the drum scale is 90c. Use that.
@@LurgsHowToGuides I used the drum descale mode today, the water remained cold in this mode, had to change it to cotton 60°,, the drum descale mode turned out to be a useless feature.

Please advise. Is it OK to use a small amount of Fairy washing machine liquid soap and bleach together - I don't have special drum detergent!!
Not sure if you should mix those. Just use a small amount of normal washing detergent\powder and stick it on hottest shortest wash it will go on

TO CLEAN USE ONE CUP OFSODA CRYSALS
I tried bleach before, i don't like that, better is to use 1cup (2,5dl) white vinegar. I don't like soda crystals or baking soda, if your machine has aluminum in it, this will cause corrosion.

No it's fine, it actually does it good to go on an empty super hot wash as it kills bacteria and stops it smelling.
Use soda crystals with drum clean...cheaper

I've heard dishwasher tablets can be used as the cleaning agent. Anyone have success with this method?
I actually tested this to see if it's safe with aluminum for example. I can recommend: 2 tablets for cleaning, even AEG recommend 2 tablets and I agree.

my machine does not even have cotton 90 no prewash ): i have to wait 2hours 45 mins for the cycle
That's unusual. Is there not a Service Wash or Drum clean wash option? Check all the programmes, one of them may be hotter

@@LurgsHowToGuides please explain. Hygiene? My washer doesn't grow bacteria. Wipe out crud from the powder, clean the gasket. I can't imagine what would be wrong with a stainless steel drum that would require it to be cleaned in such a way.
@@tf4606 if you consistently wash at 30c or 40c that’s not hot enough to kill bacteria and it will build up.
@LurgsHowToGuides soap kills bacteria. We don't need to wash our hands in scalding water. When we wash our clothes using soap the friction of the clothes and soap on the drum would clean it. To test for the presence of bacteria in the washer, simply spray with hydrogen peroxide. If it foams, there's bacteria.
