It's really slippery. There are ways around IP if you dramatically change the artwork or the context, but honestly even lawyers struggle to know what is and isn't okay. It essentially has to not compete with the original IP at all -- must be a dramatically different purpose, but even lawyers struggle with this one. I just avoid it to avoid any potential liability.
Great Video! Just wondering ..are artists still allowed to show or sale the same works they sell as NFT' as physical objects during physical auctions( example: video Installation ). Thanks!
Whew, nice, i have made a lot of great glass art back years ago that i sold to collectors but i want to add trippy animated backgrounds to photos of the pieces sold ( trippy animated functional glass art NFT type thing) hope if gets traction
So do you get any physical object for the purchases you made? I saw a video where a person who got the beeple bull received a whole physical ,package. I am confused as to whether it’s random or if you receive a physical object when you purchase (and would an artist selling need to produce all those objects- like beeple did)?
Most of them are strictly digital items, but in some cases the NFTs will come with physical items that the artist or marketplace will send out to the purchases. Also, NFTs can be used as a token for denoting who owns a physical piece of art. The technology is crazy versatile in that way, and people are still exploring potential use cases. In the video I showed a piece of art from Trevor Jones where one of the people who purchased the item will win a physical painting that he did. We're at the very beginning of this so it will be interesting to see how people leverage the tech in the future.
@@MattBorchert so what happens to the physical item if the original buyer sells it? Do they have to forward on that phyiscal item to the new digital owner?
@@nikg3392 Typically they are just no longer attached. One person will have the NFT and the other will have the physical item. It's certainly possible they could work out a deal for both, but I don't think that's too common. In the future I think we'll see more elegant solutions for this developed.

Artists need to be mindful about their content though. Legally and technically, you can't just make a Kobe Bryant art (or any other public figure) and sell it to the public without consent.
Like at 11:30 where the "artist" adds a bitcoin image into an image of a Bernini statue, "The Ecstasy of St Teresa of Avila." And makes 3 million? Seems wrong.
Man!! my mind question here and I wish someone answer it to me, is, what makes to the owner enjoy the picture more that someone whom doesn't own it if we can actually see it on our screen...
@@Unknown_Touch_ I think this give us a clear picture of what BTC really is, never meant to be used as a coin as this art were never meant to be art that whom poses it enjoys, but still prety curious!!, whom "poses"it doesn't have nothing else than the rest of us with out "possessing it" as it's not a physical thing...It's really fascinating... If I have a Picasso you can see it online in high resolution or whatever, but only I have it on my wall, that is the mother of all photos, I can touch it and smell it and... Have it. I mean, I could have that same picture at the same resolution on my computer that the owner, right? Man!! It's fascinating!!
Its like a signed copy of a CD or a book. YOUR copy is a collectible unique item. Millions of ordinary books or CD's may be sold, content may be the same but that doesn't matter.
The Kobe and the Bitcoin examples used another's fame to sell the art. What if it was just a basketball player and a generic medallion... They'd probably sell but not in the same insane way.
I'm kind of curious if there is space for an instrumental/game composer here. I just happened to stumble across this and have watched a few of your videos. Have you come across any of these platforms that might have an opening in an area like that? That being said, a lot of different NFTs come in limited editions or even sometimes unlimited editions (usually free stuff.) So with the Kobe Bryant one, they sold that for just a few minutes and however many sold are what sold. Now there will be no more of that particular NFT ever made by that artist.

How is he able to sell artwork with pikachu, buzz light-year and other characters on it, without infringing copyright?
It's really slippery. There are ways around IP if you dramatically change the artwork or the context, but honestly even lawyers struggle to know what is and isn't okay. It essentially has to not compete with the original IP at all -- must be a dramatically different purpose, but even lawyers struggle with this one. I just avoid it to avoid any potential liability.

I have a piece I want to sell but I’m not sure where to post it for sale
Great Video! Just wondering ..are artists still allowed to show or sale the same works they sell as NFT' as physical objects during physical auctions( example: video Installation ). Thanks!
Absolutely! The artist will always own the intellectual property for the work they create.
Whew, nice, i have made a lot of great glass art back years ago that i sold to collectors but i want to add trippy animated backgrounds to photos of the pieces sold ( trippy animated functional glass art NFT type thing) hope if gets traction
1,900,000 artists bought NFT ethereum technology

I'm kind of curious if there is space for an instrumental/game composer here. I just happened to stumble across this and have watched a few of your videos. It seems the music here is typically lyrical songs and also comes with visuals or a video to accompany it.
I do a lot of instrumental work for game developers and some indie films and for the past 3 years or so I've been releasing free tracks on the side via Patreon. Have you come across any of these platforms that might have an opening in an area like that? Certainly. Photograph it, scan it, etc etc.
I'm not talented with art. I am pretty good with photography, though, and I'm good at writing. Wondering if a person like me can be successful there.
Maybe
I think photography and writing can still be digital art. Anything you can upload as a file with your signature, is a digital art.
I think the critical factor is building a large fan base over time. Many of these five minute millions came after a decade of daily producing art.
cinema 4d + houdini + after effects = magic
