I used to have a produce store and somebody told me this and I thought it was crazy but I tried it anyway. Take a broom straw and lay it across the melon and if it moves three or four inches the melon will be ripe. I have had them to spin around full circle. True. It worked many times for me.

    Hey brother,
You might want to try using a auger attachment on your cordless drill to plant your starts and seeds. The auger is quick and makes the hole the righr size and depth.
You should a able to pick one up from Harbor Freight cheap!

You are crazy Kevin. Pickles all year round is the only way to go :) I usually can enough to get me through a year to 14 months. I eat pickles about 5 days a week. I feel better now knowing I am not the only one who has been delayed planting my garden because of rain. I am in mid-Illinois and sometimes it has felt like it would never stop raining.
Love your videos. It is the highlight of my day.

Helen Marshall Hi, I love sweet million , too! Aand , check out Wild Boar Farm, they specialize in developing tomato varieties ! Lots of fun to "window shop"! : ). There's lots of colors and sizes, and especially flavor profiles. There are the sweet/tropical fruit profile and the smokey/ umami profile. And the regular/tomatoey profile. And different sizes, and the types of blue/anthocyanin !

The weather this year is how Missouri make its famous rocks. Tons of rain for weeks then it heats up and no rain until late August. It takes approx. 5-6 weeks to form the rocks and you can harvest before the fall rains. LOL I feel your pain my garden is almost done but still have some sweet potatoes to go. I am currently dodging tornadoes, rain and hail to get them in the ground.

I just started awhile ago watching you. You make your videos so viewer friendly and I feel like I am part of your homestead. I watched your video why you left your corporate jobs and decided to homestead. I had tears in my eyes because I was so happy that you had realized your dream at a young age. Sometimes it hits us way late. I do container gardening and I love sitting in my garden tending my plants. I am a newbie at this, but each year I get a little better. From watching some of your other videos I do see that you have several enterprises going on. That's where your management skills and your past work has helped you. You may wear a straw hat but both of you are sharp cookies. 😀👩‍🌾

Sunflower oil and just plain oily sunflower seeds(black oil sunflower seeds..often referred to BOSS) are becoming more and more common! Very nutritious, and super helpful to add some weight on animals(or humans) who need that extra bit of padding...haven't had any animal turn their nose up at it yet! It sure helps them puff up fast.😘

nails; use a pointed stick about eight inches long to make the holes in the soil.

I know this comment is late but I had to suggest the burgundy okra. It's amazing! I love it because it's so pretty and the pods are much easier to see so you're not likely to miss them when harvesting. It's also slime-free! It does turn green when it's cooked. Not the best for canning or pickling because it will shed the red color into the liquid in the jar, but for frying it just can't be beat. I love it. :)
