I'm definitely giving this a try. I got a 360 out of a scrap pile that didn't work at all. First, I managed to get it to boot by cleaning up corrosion. Then it wouldn't put out an A/V signal, but I've determined that the HDMI port still functions. All that's left is to get that disc drive to work, which why I think they tossed it in the scrap pile to begin with.

I don’t know what is wrong, I’m trying to play metal arms, bought the disk, doesn’t work. So we bought the digital version, and that doesn’t work either. The weird part is every other game I have works.

Hey, I got me a new laser lens for my Xbox 360 Slim because my old one doesn't work anymore, I know there's always a CD and DVD pot on every Xbox 360 laser lens, but what do you mean by turning the DVD pot on the laser lens a quarter counterclockwise??
So it's a laser adjustment? Other games work on mine, but I cannot get Mercenaries 2 to work. Edit: Def not technologically adept but have tried some other things in general to fix. Seems like it's only with Merc 2, and tried two different merc 2 games.

@@green-crocs-fixes1520 I got it working actually. Oddly…. The perfectly clean disc didn’t work. The more scratchy disc did. So I think the adjustment helped but very very odd on the clean mint disc
Another thing I've found to be helpful is the auto-play feature. Though if your trying to download dlc from a disk, at least for me, you have to turn it off. Good luck and have fun!
Great video. I may have to do this; I think my optical drive is starting to fail. Some discs read right away, but others will not read at all. Or, some discs will take multiple attempts before finally working.
I'm currently having this problem myself, it reads certain games it plays when I put a different disc in it doesn't read it could it be dust problem? i never had this issue till 2021.
When i did this it tries to read the disc for a shorter time now and doesnt work at all anymore, when i shut it wish no disc it makes a buzzing sound for a second then stops. What did I do wrong?

Hi Maik, yes the Magnet is supposed to be loose as it locks onto the CD only once it has been inserted. Usually when it says OPEN TRAY this is an indication the the draw has not closed correctly.

If the Tray opens then there’s probably something obstructing it’s closure
