hi mp, thanks for the question. Much nicer 55mm flat burrs in the MDF plus timed presets. Full disclosure, I have not used the PL43MMI but according to specs it uses a smaller 38mm conical burr set. I prefer the larger flat burrs in the MDF for espresso grinding. Also it's an on-demand grinder so no timed presets. Hope that helps! Marc
Hi Mark, Thanks for very informative video. This type of the adjustable fork filter holder will do fine with 58mm portafilters but might prove somewhat unsuitable for espresso machines using 53mm, or 51mm baskets - thinking Dalla Corte, La Spaziale and La Pavoni Europiccola respectively. Would this be a correct assumption? A persistent problem with the grinders of any range is the heat generated by the motor, especially during the extended use when grinding more coffee, or when the motor is pushed through its paces with darker roasts. Especially cheaper grinders with plastic casing and poorly designed internals can generate more heat than others and while not having an impact on the grind quality, it does add to the machine’s overall thermal output. Might be nice to add to your future tests a temperature check, perhaps with some pre-selected roasts for testing consistency, an IR thermometer might do the trick. Would be interested to see your experience with the grinder after 1-2 weeks … especially when switching back and forth between single dosing brews and shots, and the amount of coffee it retains. Take care. D.
The word on the street is that it is a rebodied Eureka Mignon Specialita, so I suppose it is a tried and tested grinder and then you are just looking at price and styling or brand loyalty to make the choice
Hi there. The Gaggia MDF 55 improves upon the Facile in several ways. The MDF has larger burrs (55mm v 50mm) and has the option for timed dosing while the Facile does not.
@@Wholelattelovepage Hey! Thanks for replying. And which grinder would you recommend for an upgrade over the Facile? Gaggia, Eureka Specialita, other? Thanks!
Hello, I use a magnetic funnel and I’m able to use it hands free. Stuck a half inch round clear furniture bumper on the turn on button to allow for the wider funnel. I do love my new Gaggia grinder from WLL!
I see a lot of Eureka in the Gaggia, which is a good thing.
Eureka Mignon written all over it)) the screen and interface is literally the same)
It’s obviously manufactured by Conti Valerio Srl
I was thinking the same thing
The chute, the portafilter holder (fork), the start button…
internals too. they look exactly the same opened up
Excellent video Mark
Wow this is nice way to go Gaggia.🥰 I might need to keep this on my list.
great review! thanks! for a Lelit PL41TEM PID, would you recommend to get a Gaggia MDF 55 or a Lelit PL43MMI?

Dude, this is high quality content. Congrats and thank you.
Hey a, thanks for the comment!

Marc great video. What is your input on third wave water.
This looks identical in many ways both inside and out to the Eureka Mignon Specialita. Did they make this?
Yes, there are more rebranded eureka grinders

Hi Mark, Have you reviewed the Rocket Porta Via yet?
Good morning mark
Great job. You are a natural
what's the camera you are using?
Let’s make something really clear, Eureka is the only company that has the patent for the motor mount adjustment feature.

Somehow I am sold on the particle analyzer. 😅
This one or Mahlkonig X54?
Hi! Nice video! Which one is better between this and the Eureka Facile? I have the Facile but not sure if this is better for an upgrade?

Gaggia: 👀
Everyone on earth: Whats up Eureka 👁👃👁
Can you fit a dosing funnel on top of the portafilter basket when you grind?
Hi there.
You can fit a dosing funnel on your portafilter under the spout, but please note that you will not be able to grind hands-free.

it's rebranded eureka mignon
Is is better or cheaper than Niche?
Apples and Oranges, the Niche is conical burr and single dose so they are not really in the same segment
@@ThetacheRight. OK.
This is literally a imitation of the Eureka grinders. What would be the advantage of getting this one instead of an eureka?
You get Gaggia logos, and here where I live pay 33% more for it, than staying with Eureka.
It is a specialita in a different case produced by Eureka for Gaggia.
not only is a copy but a uglier one. The Eurekas are so much more pleasant to the eye!
Nice italian boomers grinder
This grinder is 95% a Eureka Mignon, inside & out, just with a slight face lift.
