Horse rescue requires a special group of people to acknowledge the reality of the limitations. What makes sense to put the horses through short term only if there is long term quality of life possible. Decisions made with your veterinarian were solid and while some had sad outcomes others contain hope for healing. Give yourselves a pat on the back for doing the jobs others cannot or will not do.
That Arabian mare is so pretty but those back legs.. DSDL is terrible. I hope she can find a good home. Mondo is such a good looking horse even with just one eye. Poor Beezie, she is at peace now, you did what was best for her. You ALL are awesome.
It is hard to let go of an animal but you must ask yourself this question. Am i making/prolonging their suffering just because I don't want to let them go? And if your honest is yes, then stop being selfish and let them go. My German Shepard Kim, taught me this valuable lesson when he looked at me with a look that said it all. I would not do this to you in his eyes, I would end your humiliation and pain. Just pay extra for medicine to make them to drugged out, they don't feel the heart stopping shot. He also taught this most valuable lesson, they all don't just go to sleep, they will fight and again that look, only this time, how can you do this to me, I love you. I carry this guilt to this very day!
As a retired wound care nurse, you might try a medi honey dressing that promotes healing, keeps the wound bed moist and prevents infection. It can stay in place a couple days between changes. Just a thought.
I am a big fan of medi honey and I use it for everything and even on myself. Cleared up a nasty dog bite I had last week (happened whilst playing with the most loveliest German Shephard) the skin heals quicker and it really kills any infection.
SSD cream, prescription, not the over the counter brands, is another great option. We used it on a mare we adopted that had been horribly tangled in barbed wire during Hurricane Helene. (The owners lost everything and couldn't keep her.). It has been about 6 weeks and her wounds are healing beautifully! She had a wound on her side and neck with the skin ripped off just like the horse with the leg wound. We cold hosed 3 times a day due to the swelling and kept her on stall/paddock rest. She couldn't even bend her neck to hand graze. She went out yesterday for the first time and is able to gently graze. Just a thought and worth a try.
good bye sweet breezie. now you run free alongside janis and all the others. 💚 i dont know if its this time of the year .. but recently im really quick tearing up 😞
Winkey… I wouldn’t adopt another horse to those adopters… I don’t believe bad behaviour they just didn’t want to deal with the injury. I’d ask for the vet papers to see what was done.
Not a horse product but i swear by it for healing! Extra emoliant night cream from mary kay. It holds in moisture and works wonders with injuries! On our horses the hair even grew back the normal color, and on humans it makes scars almost invisible!! Its a touch expensive but it lasts forever and is nontoxic to the animals if they lick it, so it might work for the leg injury since its in a weird spot. We used it on a mare that ripped her side open on a bolt and besides the scar from where it was sewn together you couldnt tell she was injured. It did kinda help keep the flys off as well. Just wanted to share a product that was surprise to me but it's amazing and its always in the vet box at my barn!
I love ponytail rescue. You are just awesome people to get these horses. And that baby is growing.Oh my goodness now done a good job sandra from south mississippi
The thumb nail looks interesting finally managed to see a live video as its posted its 1am here in uk 🇬🇧 i love binge watching all your videos from your first post to now i still get heart broken seeeing you at the auction with all those poor babies that you dont rescue breaks my heart but the ones you do rescue seeing them heal is awesome
Have you ever tried opening both doors so the trailer doesn't look as much like a dark cave (which is, after all, where the predators live) to a prey animal? Might help them go in more easily. Just saying ...
21:00 how about Manuka Honey on that open leg wound? I know it's popular these days, but also has some true healing abilities... great for a bed sore so figured I would ask! Curious if it is recommended for avoiding or even treating these proud flesh situations or what people's findings are. Seems like it would help keep it from drying out. Of course I wonder if you didn't wrap it if the horse would want to lick it lol...a sweet treat! Guess u would wrap it tho...
Nadia is a stunning mare❤ I fell in love with her as soon as I saw her. What kind of horse is she? I may have missed that if you mentioned it. She looks like a Saddlebred or some breed of gaited horse?? She's beautiful. That arabian mare, Jewels, is beautiful, too. As mentioned already, the DSLD is bad on her back legs, but she's definitely a gorgeous pasture pet to look at❤ I love y'all! Thank all of y'all for the compassion and hard work y'all do! God bless y'all 🙏❤️😊
Why not pack that open wound with Manuka or Raw honey before covering it? That would keep it moist, prevent bacteria, and provide the sugars for flesh regrowth? It's used a lot in wound care!
Would you be willing to share a bit about how you protect other horses when you get new surrenders? Do you have a quarantine process or area? Curious!!
Have you tried leaches to take the swelling down and use comfrey powder and tea tree and aloe Vera gel and mix it all together and it will help it heal all wounds quickly
How much did the horse hurt itself when jumping out of the vet stock? Maybe be more prepared in the future. It’s good to be aware and safe for everyone (animals and people) before working the animals 🙏💙💫
He got a small cut on his lip. Otherwise was fine. Not sure how to "prepare" for a horse without notice or warning to suddenly leap out of the stock. Suggestions on how to prepare for that are welcome.
Im surprised the vet did not recomend a hysterectomy for beezie. without all the damaged lady parts the urine would have no where to go but out. Glad she is no longer in pain either way,
Such beautiful horses! Seems odd that someone would return a horse for behavior issues when that horse was injured in their care. I guess that is a convenient way to not have vet bills.

So well said!
The “owner” of the $350 horse, is completely lacking in humanity. But, hey, what goes around comes around. Glad you were able to get the horse.
Rest in peace Beezie. You were suffering and couldn't be cured so it's the kindness decision x

I use Manuka honey as I am allergic to poly/neosporin. The manuka helps if there is MRSA. My dermatologist and GP agreed.

This stuff is legit, just make sure it is medi-honey brand or otherwise medical grade honey.
Used manuka honey and wound wash when I cut a finger open. Tiniest scar left over and no problem with the nerve that got cut. Def use it to this day!
Mondo thinks he's a jumper, not a drafter! RIP Breezie. Such a lovely girl.
Mondo dreams big!😂
I had a grey horse, and he loved to turn different colors! The fun of owing a grey horse! 🙂
good bye sweet breezie. now you run free alongside janis and all the others. 💚
i dont know if its this time of the year .. but recently im really quick tearing up 😞
It's that winter allergy it gets me too😢
The grey old girl…doc surprised that she had no melanoma….she is coated in mud screen! She has obviously looked after her skin well! Lol
I just want to send an update on Ruby ( Heart) she is doing great and I took a picture of her tonight but don’t know how to send it!
You can email it to us at info@ponytalesrefuge.org!
Quality of life is always my thought when it comes to my animals.
That vet know his stuff about horse 🐎
Sweet Beezie, you are now whitout pain. Run free dear horse.

Oh and paulie and the vets are like having gold in your pocket
That horrible woman who was going to send that poor horse to the slaughterhouse, if she didn’t get her $350! Shame on her! Shame! shame! Shame!❤❤❤🙌🏻
Trust me one day the karma will catch her 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
AWWWW rest in peace is sweet beautiful girl 🙏😢❤️
RIP Beautiful Beezie 😥, Mondo is quite a character, with a little naughtiness thrown in there too lol, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧

Rest in Peace sweet Beezie 💔🌈🐴

That was my thought too 😅
We do if we feel it is necessary!
If the trailer doesnt eat horses, why does Jules smell horses that arent there anymore? Hmmmm? You cant fool her!😮❤
😁
OMG that little Winnie!!
It's always great to see the horses go to new homes I love it
You guys need to get Mondo a job as a jumping pony. Clearly he's good at it!
You guys are so good with the horses. 75 northern California 🐎
I think the reason why they roll in the mud to keep them cool when it's hot out
It cold there now. They roll to get rid of itches, bugs, to keep bugs off them and a lot just roll for the fun of it 😂
Oh poor Jules, such a beautiful Arabian mare but that DSLD looks horrendous. Poor mare. 😢
❤Oh, it was nice to see everyone, Great job as always.

Mondo you're not an olympic jumper, stop trying!
They do a great job on working with their horses I wonder how long it takes to work with horses and when they got started doing that
Great video thanks for sharing.
So sorry about Sweet Breeze. Jules is a beautiful Arab.
Hello from Cincinnati
Very nice of you to give me a brand new video on my birthday! 🥳🥳🥳❤️❤️❤️🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
Happy belated birthday🎉

Poor Winkey 😢. The work y’all do is incredible, thank you so much. NB: what’s with the camera lens, it’s very murky?

Watching julels getting in the trailer and leading into the barn, i thouht shes got to be Arabian!!! Shes beautiful!!
Obviously the trailers have bad memories for her. She’s cute.

@PonyTalesRefuge Thank you and very best wishes for you all 🙏💙💫

Poor gue with his leg like that. No vet records, he was returned because they didnt want him any more cuz of his leg. 😢

Every time I hear you say hypatia it makes me crazy. It is pronounced Hi pay sha. She was a Grecian goddess.
We googled it! Lol.
@PonyTalesRefuge good for you... 😂
The background noice is horrible.
Your screen needs cleaned 🤓
