I couldn't afford a Chanel classic flap, so I make a satchel, still a classic... for my wife!
This time I make a leather classic satchel with a piece of 1.5mm thick veg tan cow leather, lined with pigskin.
Its gonna be a long video...

I've watched your video 4 or 6 times now, I find it so therapeutic, I am making leather goods myself (manmadeleather on etsy) and you have been a big inspiration for me in the application of the craft, thank you. I am amazed at your gluing skills, I have to tape the area to be glued as the glue I use tends to be a bit stringy.
I would love to make one of my bags in that colour, if you wouldn't mind sharing I would be very grateful.

Thanks for posting this video. I really like the look of it, and used it as a basis for making a purse for my wife. It was my first attempt at leatherwork, and it turned out quite well.

And ignore those negative snobbish comments, none of those guys have taken time and effort to make a video and share it with others. I've only just come across your videos. I love this beautiful satchel you made for your wife. It's so gorgeous, so much love has gone I to making it. I've recently brought myself my own satchel which does no way near compare to your home made one. But they are wonderful classic bags. Love the colour of the leather too. I would love to learn a craft like this. I found this quite relaxing to watch too. I know I'm about 3 years late with my comment. But I hope this wonderful satchel is still in use. It's so perfect.

Why did you not sew the leather together as well as rivet the strap to the bag?

the only thing i wish is that the inside was lined so that it wouldn't be exposed cowhide, but other than that, i'd rather have this than a chanel bag. any man who can make this is worth his weight in gold. not just cuz he can make expensive gifts, but because skilled people who can make things with their hands are rare and special indeed.
