My friends use Logic Pro with mac computer, so I use a paid reaper's Logic 3 and its great. But the way you use the peace theme has me using the theme when I work on my own projects. I don't know, the peace theme for your channel is easy to see for me and I like that. What ever you choose Ill be watching to learn from. Great video.
yes use a theme of your choice. you can adapt the program to you then switch the themes to what suits you. you can set the layout up like ableton live but with a gorgeous mixer and track panels. ie always HATED how live looks. i still do even after changing the colours
I use plenty hehe. I did get the white tie which is dope, concept six. I do have echolot that I used a long time. BlackC and now I use the new theme by Alejandro.
Yea the reaper tips theme is very nice and versatile for sure ... It's a front runner to use but we shall see... I tried the white tie and didn't really feel comfortable with it and concept 6 was cool but commala felt better so I didn't really use that one.. I haven't tried the CBlack might have to look at that one... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
i keep going back to Paulie otherwise really enjoying a modded Reapertips theme that i put together (color changes mainly) but Paulie still just works the best for me in terms of legibility
The last transition I did was from Logic to Reaper, so started with the logic theme, but on one of the updates the theme got into default reaper skin. Couldn't bother change it and now roll with default Reaper skin 😅
I got you wrong, like the Theme adjuster was only for ReaperTips theme, but it seems you can also use it with the default Reaper theme, and may be others too
Peace theme is clear I did know it. I also like Echolot that I use, there are some variation of it in Reaper stash. I'll try Peace, it seems good, even I would have to tweak it a little. Thank you for the video. What is your other channel about Cakewalk?
Yea those 2 themes are good... I have been using the ReaperTips theme now tho... And yes my other channel is mostly Cakewalk but I have some other DAWs sprinkled in there as well...😀🙏🏾
The problem with Reaper is that there is so much that's customizable. I see people spend more time on how the session looks than they do actually recording anything. I used to do the same thing, so I just used the stock theme now.
I don't change much but I do try different things... When I'm in work mode I don't look for themes or plugins but in free time I do look around and see if there is anything that captures the eye... But I agree some people are always twerking and not working.... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
I'm going slightly mad. I'm trying to customize the standard theme, latest Reaper version, so that I can get a simple click auto-arm on select, and select on click anywhere in the track, Track Control Panel, arrangement view. But every time I hit Mute or Solo it selects and expands the track, but it doesn't solo or mute it, so I have to click once more, but sometimes it does change, depending on if I click a row above or below of the current track. The event occurs in the mouse up click, so not when I hit the mouse click, but when I release the mouse button, but the track has already been selected and expanded, and when I release the mouse button the Mute or Solo buttons are not in the same place, I just realized I cannot make Reaper my own as I thought. I created 3 layouts, one with a compact mixer docked at the bottom of the main window, another layout with a single fader docked to the left of the main screen and nothing docked in the bottom, and more with a full-screen mixer layout. But when I set Mixer Control Panel (mixer tracks) to be compact and folder tracks to display an extra margen on its left, by using the Theme Adjuster, the same one that you show at the end of this video with "ReaperTips" Theme, only the full-screen mixer layout remains intact. When I switch to the "Side Mixer" layout (there's a tutorial by Kenny Giogia) and it finds a folder track it goes mad, and if I use the mouse wheel by mistake, all tracks spin mixed instead of the selected track. When I switch to the "Compact Mixer" docked at the bottom of the main screen, the faders are not slim and compact anymore but full width again, and whenever I fix the margin or indentation in one layout it destroys the other layout. I've spent too much time learning Reaper and trying to make it my own, but it's not so easy. I just disabled timestamped backups as I only need one backup in case Reaper crashes, and it crashed, and I found no auto-save backup at all, and I can only make it auto-save by either overwriting the main project file (not recommended) or filling the hard-drive with time-stamped backups every 15 minutes. I just found a cool option in Reaper to save all audio from sessions even when I am not recording, assigned it to a text icon in the main toolbar, as well as other commands/shortcuts to bring online/offline the FX and virtual instruments from tracks that I don't need while I am working on the other tracks easily, as I can select several tracks and hit the toolbar icon (or keyboard shortcut, but I find it easier this way). I don't know if other DAWs can make this, but I am a bit very upset with Reaper this weekend having almost no sleep since Wednesday .Going to take a nap, I'll try later with ReaperTips theme but I think there are some issues that won't be solved 🛌😪
There are a lot of things said here... Not all DAWs have any of these customizable features that you are trying to setup in Reaper.. but keep at it you will find a work flow solution that will work for you...😀🙏🏾
@@learningreaper Thank you for the hands up. I started loving Reaper compared to other DAWs until I faced all these issues, and it was like everything I learned about Reaper, every little step I took day by day, vanished suddenly in the air. I couldn't need to customize it if it was fine right out of the box, with some of the Layouts people expect to use in every other DAW I tried Ableton Live and FL Studio but they crashed much more than expected even only using the bundled instruments. I am using a basic Mac mini M1 (8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) and I wouldn't even need an Audio Interface except for plugging in external audio inputs. It's just what I wanted. But bundled Garageband DAW lacks a lot of features, and Logic Pro doesn't seem to play nice if you dare to use non-Apple software. I also tried Cubase and the experience at least on macOS was painful and horrible. Reaper looked amazing compared to every other DAW and it still shines, but I realize how much time I spent day by day, bit by bit, for nothing, that I am very upset. It seems Reaper 7 is closer. I paid my license so this would be a free upgrade, but every upgrade in Logic has been for free since decades and it is half the price of any other DAW (except Reaper for personal use), but you know, with Apple you will pay sooner or later, and may be much more than I can afford, as I am finding 8 GB of RAM may be a bottleneck and upgrading the Mac mini if not an option, but it's silent, energy efficient now that electricity is becoming so expensive, and it I don't need to use even more power and money to cool the room where the computer is located. Thank you again for your support!!! Good luck, keep scoring hits and teaching us while following Reaper's path.
Peace Theme looks great. I don't know if the track layout options in FLogic are worth it everything else. I agree with you, not too bright, not too dark is the best, like using a well-balanced contrast. I remember using computers with a bright green phosphor over a completely black background. It was hard to use computers for a very long time. Color screens appeared a few years later, but programs were using the same approach, bright text over dark background. And then Windows 3.1 changed all that, using almost black text over an overly bright white background, which was unhealthy too. Meanwhile there were other computers (non-PC), like ATARI (I remember people using Cubase for MIDI with B/W monitors and a good synth), that in fact used a gray background and a not too bright text foreground. It didn't look so appealing as others, but it turned out to be the way we're approaching in PC and Mac 30 years later. Even web browsers used black text foreground over bright white. Finally now we can see developers taking care of the overall user experience by using a less contrast heavy color gamut, making it more friendly and healthy, with softer dark gray over white, and softer light gray over black. We used to feel that premium quality in full black over full white, compared with cheap grayer ink books using paper which turned to from white to sepia over the years. Most people didn't notice we were degrading the user experience until now 🤦♀. I will try that Peace Theme, I also like the separators and the list of FX inside each track in the main layout, which I find more suitable than the mixer at this stage as I always end up opening the FX chain, reopening the VST in a separate window and closing the FX chain.
Yea... I like to protect my eyes at all cost you see the specks I wear.... Lol .. some good info in here thanks for the comment... Definitely try Peace and do some adjusting one of my favorites... ReaperTips is the one I used in my latest video it's growing in me... 😀🙏🏾
I mentioned the imperial theme at the end of the video didn't show it or Smooth 6 even though many like them I'm not a fan of them... Lol... Commala theme was the first one I liked when I stayed using Reaper then came Peace and I have rocking with that since the first video on this channel... But now ReaperTips has been growing on me..😀🙏🏾
I Made Dark Theme Of Reaper but it's Uppar Strip is Still White What Shall i Do, Like *(Minimuze, maximise,Close)* Its Background is White where as While Reaper is In Dark Theme Hiw Shall i Make Its Background Dark ???
i used to use this theme called reatea but i think it got taken down from the website now i just use smooth 6, i don't know why but most of the reaper themes don't hit the same way smooth 6 does to me
That's what's up smooth six is a good one alot of people use it .. I wasn't a big fan of it I used Commala 5 then went to Peace. Thank for the comment...😀🙏🏾
The links to all the themes are in the description. The Ableton one comes with some extra setup to get fx looking like Ableton but I couldn't get it to work for me ... You might have better luck with that than me... Thanks for the comment..😀🙏🏾
They have a js plugin called volume that you can add the track for gain staging it will give a chance to increase or decrease the volume. Hope this helps...😀🙏🏾
I mention the imperial themes at the end of the video... I like the look but the mixer is to big for my liking... Like you said it's for big monitors and I use more of the track view so it a no go for me.. but I think it looks cool ... I know a lot of people like it... And smooth six... But they didn't make the list this time. Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
It's a work flow that very different thats one of the reasons that people don't like Reaper at first and way to much reading .. lol.. people don't like to read...but once you feel something familiar you start to get comfortable with it... Reapertips theme is pretty cool yes
Reapertips is definitely giving studio one vibes

Yea definitely one of my favorite themes.. the ReaperTips theme has grown on me now... I really like that one as well... Thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Reaper Tips is the best theme because it has indents for folders in the mixer and settings for individual elements.
It's definitely a good theme I like it a lot and the Peace theme is my second now .. thanks for the comment..😀🙏🏾
Thanks for this ... I'm coming from Ableton and this'll help but admittedly I've very torn about leaving Ableton.
I feel ya ... But once you use Reaper for a while you will wonder why haven't I done this earlier ..😀🙏🏾
One of the only Reaper themes that charges you money is the Protools one. Fitting.
When you put it that way....😂😂 I didn't even realize that.
