1 and a half year, and I am not even done with my friends Mordheim possessed warband 😢 Sadly, It is not even because I have painted anything else instead, I just don't have the time atm....
I started in 2019 still working on the same army that I started with though I’ve worked on painting stuff from a couple other army’s I’ve collected but I’ve yet to finish a full box of models yet unless it’s a single character. Should have a painted 2k army in the next 2 decades or so
Honestly, I used to have this problem but genuinely just forcing myself to only work on TWO things at a time, try to make them different types of models in some way, wether it’s a different colour scheme or a different unit type. Also not buying anything new until everything I had was painted was huge.
I really like the idea of going back and doing the army you really wanted as a kid, colour scheme and all. Not worrying if it is a good army but just recapturing that imagination and love for the models you had as a child.
Honestly I rather see an army or mini that you guys as artists are happy and proud of over sticking to the 24h mark to the dot. I loved the passion Emil had on this project and I loved the results!
Always hilarious that you think you’ll be able to get it finished in a 24 hour timeframe. However, it works great as a flying start for the project and great that you kept at it. The result is awesome. 👏👏👏
Anyone else pause the video at Lukas’ free hand of the Emperor on a banner being carried by an Imperial Knight? Looks insaaaaane! Lukas = GOAT freehand.
Great fun! Such an engaging video - you made that 24hrs look like a breeze and didn't seem too conflicted when you made a decision to prioritise the minis. Good call and amazing results - love the resculpted abs and the bark on that treeman is terrific!!!
Is there anything you'd have done differently to hasten the process if you had to do it again? Many of those older models like the war dancer and the archers don't have a lot of detail nor do they have a lot of accessories unlike many modern miniatures where pouches, belts, bags, skulls, and other bits are just clogging the miniature. It looks like most of the work you put into it was actual work as opposed to how someone like myself might just slapchop/zenithal and then contrast with maybe a highlight or two over those.
I'm rebasing and repainting my old dwarf army and I'm enjoying the journey a lot, I'm happy to know you abandoned the 24h challenge and just enjoyed the travel too ^^
Emil, the wardancers are not finished. They are still missing the talismanic tattoos! I think two months is more than decent time span for the amount of minis and the painting level. Of course, if you want to use the army to play in old warhammer editions you need waaaaaay more minis, but that is OK
A 1 minute challenge would be nice. paint the base coats in 1 minute stop wait for it to dry then add the shades in 1 minute, you have a max of 5minutes to finish in total paint time.
Sweet! Really like what you did with those sculpted bases. I'm curious what people would have thought about this army in the 90s if it was sent back with a time machine. Mindblown by the volymetric painting or unimpressed with the natural colours?
What are your thoughts on the new GW price hikes? I saw that foot note at the bottom of the article about Sweden getting hit with a 12-14% increase and immediately thought of you and your local shops.
I had a fairly large collection of metal Skaven in the '90s. But I don't know what the heck happened to them, last time I saw them was probably late in the '00s. I've still got a large pile of plastic Skaven but they are mostly from Isle of Blood or later. Well, except for my metal Skaven Blood Bowl team from 2nd edition BB.
Like your 24-hour videos. But I am not sure if I would be very happy with the rushed result. In comparison to a result made not in a hurry and most of rested condition.
Hi, I actually ordered 4 T-shirts from Into the AM, lookin' good by the way, but they come from the USA, soooo, expensive shipment, Plus extra customs costs!... those were 4 very expensive T-shirts 😮
Interesting video. Do you think GW minis have changed over the years? If so how? Sizes have increased? More or less detail? More accurate sculptures? Only know HeroQuest models from back then and what they do today (recently returned to painting mini’s) blew me away - even how they put them together. Interested in your thoughts. Don’t think you needed to do this over 24 hours though, painting them and the difference in sculpture, palate challenges would’ve been enough. Looking forward to Luca’s video.
Oh... fourth Edition Sculpts. Exactly what I'm colleting at the Moment, to get an Vintage-Woodelf-Army which might be a little bit better Painted than I could Manage as a teen.
Luv those classic Wood Elf 🪵 miniatures. Scouring eBay for those old models is something I would love to do. But I think it's a little bit beyond me. Maybe I will have to settle for their nearest modern equivalent.
hey Emil. personaly i think the dragon looks AMAZING! and the colour scheme is giving me huge dragon ball z vibes so in nostalge rates id say its top tier!
Love the 24h hours marathoins guys, keep at it ! Would you guys consider doing an independant review of the the new army painter fanatic paint line ? Where I am only these and Citadel's are easily available, I want to know if they are any good :)
These videos are always fun and really well produced. Sadly for me, the level of painting is so high that is difficult to relate or connect to it given I'm nowhere close to it :( Anyway .. that's a nice army Emil!
Yeah... Halfway through and already bored. Another video of tired RUclipsrs painting all night. You're meant to be the best Warhammer channel, so do better. Be more instructional, more relatable and less obsessed with spectacle and repeating the same ideas as other channels...
This is just me looking into the future with all my piles of shame...... Maybe I should finish painting everything I have before buying more, but wheres the fun in that.
So the answer is of course yes I mean anyone can (dose GW still have that silly rule of a model must have 3 couplers of paint to be used at their shops? As I saw one guy use a wall painting brush to get past that one, the scariest thing was it still looked better that some of the paint jobs I’ve seen some people do and be proud of😂) the much better question is can’t you make them look good in that time (I have no doubt you will). This is the first video I’ve seen of yours so I hope it leaves a good impression as the community is pretty much all GW has left after the last decade.
I know they are not cannon but has anyone got an idea of what colour scheme The Little Sisters of purification should be? please. I just fancy the idea. might be fun.
Love these videos, but you probably need to give your self a bit more initial time. ^^ I know I could never finish even one of my piles of shame in 24 hours :)
Did also collect woodelfs as a kid, had a look at them when i got back in the hobby 8 years ago and the then 36years old me could not understand how i did like the look of woodelfs as kid. Now in my mid 40s i think they got to be the uglyest of all the old Elf stuff, exept the dragon (if you bin the rider) that is okey.
There is a toy store in Slovakia called Dráčik (small dragon) and their mascot has the exact same colour scheme as yours. Although he is way more cute 😅
I would like to ask for your experienced opinion using agitators on acrylic paints. Many opinions out there say to use stainless steel ball bearings yet others say no, due to the fact that these will only damage your acrylic paints when they rust inside. Other opinions suggest to use glass beads because they will not rust; but glass is sometimes not heavy enough as stainless steel to be a good agitator. Lastly, I have also come across others who suggest using volcanic rock beads as agitators because they are natural rock & will not damage acrylic paints. What are the best agitators You know of that will not damage acrylic paints? Your wisdom & advice is greatly appreciated James
I’m painting this army at the moment, mostly 4th Edition metal minis. It’s a slog, everything needs a bit more brainpower and work than usual for it to not look trash.
Good video but don't you get the thing when you get colder & you shake slightly when you're doing an all-nighter? Would think it would ruin the painting details for the later figures together with the tiredness.
Can you please do a tutorial on how to paint Wood Elves like you did? Maybe on your second channel if you don't think the video will do well enough on your main channel.
does the humidifier spraying so close to your minis effect the paint at all? I've heard horror stories of people painting when its too humid out and ruining their kits.

time lapse video or it didnt happen!
@@danquaylesitsspeltpotatoe8307 did you watch the video? 😅
@@SquidmarMiniatures I assume you dont know what time lapse means and therefore the importance of it!
hah imagine finishing an army
...nearly 3 years, and I'm still not done
1 and a half year, and I am not even done with my friends Mordheim possessed warband 😢

I'm not even finished getting an army >.< I'm only at like 680 points on my tau army it IS fully painted what I have at least >.
I really like the idea of going back and doing the army you really wanted as a kid, colour scheme and all. Not worrying if it is a good army but just recapturing that imagination and love for the models you had as a child.
I agree. I really wish I could go back and repaint my Vampire Counts army... :(
24 year old army, 24 hours, came out 24 minutes ago. Nice.
Win
2024 too
What is, “finishing an army”?

24 hours, hummm, where are those new contrast paints 🤣🇬🇧🙏♥️
On the store shelf. GW gets no more support. Everything Black Rock touches must fall.
Mustache!!!!! It comes, it goes, it's there , it's here, now it's no where!
Anyone else pause the video at Lukas’ free hand of the Emperor on a banner being carried by an Imperial Knight? Looks insaaaaane! Lukas = GOAT freehand.
There is a video on the freehand already published
Excuse me? Black rimmed bases? Where's the green goblin rimmed bases at!?
Great fun! Such an engaging video - you made that 24hrs look like a breeze and didn't seem too conflicted when you made a decision to prioritise the minis. Good call and amazing results - love the resculpted abs and the bark on that treeman is terrific!!!
I had that dragon model, and the rider did look awful, but not as bad as one of the Legolas models, it looked like Orlando had downs
😂😂😂😂😂
best comment
I started a dark angels army in 1988 and still haven’t finished it!
I know you love and adore Cavill, but to go to the length of CGI-ing a mustache in some form of reverse homage... I don't know what to say...
x,D

More fantasy and old world please! Any update on when you’re going to carry on with the fantasy board? Also cool muzzy dude
Does the humidifier help the painting, or just the painters?
It kinda helps the brushes not dry out so quickly

Unit of 64 archers unit of dryads unit of glade guard unit of way watchers plus your war dancers dragon tree man and orion you would do well
A 1 minute challenge would be nice. paint the base coats in 1 minute stop wait for it to dry then add the shades in 1 minute, you have a max of 5minutes to finish in total paint time.
What?!! No tattoos on the Wardancers?
I really like your paint style.
Would love to see you guys painting your Oldhammer Ork army, please make It happen!
I second this.

It's really ass
Yeah, its hard to compromise the time spent painting the minis you love so dearly.
Seems like this has to be repeated
Thanks for your videos man! You keep me inspired to keep going! Appreciate you brotha!
As a friend taught me, an army is never finished.
Good job on simplifying the paint job in order to get all the models painted in the allowed time frame.
They all look amazing. I'm not surprised they took extra time to complete. Thanks for sharing!!!
The dragon is super

Love the dragon. Puts me in mind of other 80's fantasy dragon art you might see in an old D&D Monster Manual.

I love these 24h videos, funny and marvelous job on minies. Thank you for every video you make, love it with painting mine minies during watching :)
I love you guys, you are talented and amazing to watch. I just cant support Games Workshop anymore. Please paint 3d printed non GW stuff for a bit.
I have a Mordian army, 180 infantry, 30ish heavy weapons bases, and tanks. All waiting for me to have time when I retire, I guess.
Orange and green dragon is the best scheme ever, really glad you pushed through to the end!
Luv those classic Wood Elf 🪵 miniatures. Scouring eBay for those old models is something I would love to do. But I think it's a little bit beyond me. Maybe I will have to settle for their nearest modern equivalent.

Whoa Lukas that banner's freehand????!!!!! Youre crazy bruh holy freakun talent!!!
Wood elves was my first army in 95. Actually managed to paint a 1000pts army back then.
I keep hearing your name and when I saw the spelling on the screen I was happy to see that your name is spelled like my Grandfather's name!
Getting the feeling that Emil has a Himalaya sized mountain pile of shame 😂
Great looking WHFB models! You should do more ToW 👍
Yeah... Halfway through and already bored. Another video of tired RUclipsrs painting all night. You're meant to be the best Warhammer channel, so do better. Be more instructional, more relatable and less obsessed with spectacle and repeating the same ideas as other channels...
You make me so regret to have sold when I was a teenager my first army... Wood Elves
Thank you dearly for the kid's dream by proxy, guys!
This is just me looking into the future with all my piles of shame...... Maybe I should finish painting everything I have before buying more, but wheres the fun in that.
Maybe do 12 hour segments. Honestly I think doing something slightly more healthier would create better results. While making you feel better.

Its getting pretty stale hearing excuses and watching you do good paintjobs.. give me a real video where you actually focus on 1 big job.
I know they are not cannon but has anyone got an idea of what colour scheme The Little Sisters of purification should be? please. I just fancy the idea. might be fun.

So, another clickbating video. Meh, at least Emile did a paining video in the last 6 months I guess.
This is beautiful army! Everything here have a soul and passion! Thank you!
Can you please do a tutorial on how to paint Wood Elves like you did? Maybe on your second channel if you don't think the video will do well enough on your main channel.
Hats off to you for pushing through and finishing this one outside the 24 hours. The younger you would be proud!
Stop being silly, there's no way you're doing these in a 24 hour block. lol
I know the painting style is supposed to be "abstract". But flesh colored eyes looks really bad. Other than that they are great.
I hope Lukas does a "takeover" of squidmar for his video. That would be a fun bit
Looks great! Buuuuut, a 24 hour epic fail seems like there should be a redemption video at some point
Wood elves were my real choice first after the initial bretons in the first boxset game. My dryads were da bomb!!
Wasn't Luca promised Cookies next time he had to paint for 24 hours?
24 hours to 4 weeks... sounds like a real Hobby time calculation !
does the humidifier spraying so close to your minis effect the paint at all? I've heard horror stories of people painting when its too humid out and ruining their kits.
I know sculpting has moved on and we can’t go back but I really love these old metal models.
I hate these videos because it would take me 24 hours to maybe paint three miniatures, to a much lower standard.
Grand reveal at 11:02
Bro it’s RUclips. You could have taken six weeks to do this and we’d never know. Just edit it
Orc Flesh Busters Team 3d printerbels thay look so cool, ghost buster orks
start painting those 40 extra archers. In the end you will feel more complete
I like the Forest Dragon colors! Looks like Shenron from DBZ!
Pretty cool but strange models but (yes another but) u needed to, very nice i guess i will have to do an old world orcs aswell
The dragon looks fantastic!
What game is that at 9:52, it looks so familiar but is too blurry to work out!
I really appreciate the time spent to show off the Grand Reveal!
So much talking. So much camera time on you, and not on the figures. :(
Owowow I have that treelord! Was fun painting!
Squidmar painting oldhammer? Dreams come true ❤
Lovely result, love to watch Emil paint, his style is so vibrant.
can i request a long form (1hr) version of this episode?
You call those war dancers finished?? Damn
Emil now you feel Like one of us who don't have enough time to Paint.
i always found with the old models, there heads are way out of proportion
What's the deal with the humidifier? Does it help keep paint wet on the pallet?
Back in 5E that would be a legit 2K army
11:47 theres a hair there x'D ... all of them looking awesome!
