    doesnt work on anything other than a G652.D patch cord. which is in use approxamly 0 percent of the world. So now im the bad guy at my company, wasting money on tools that dont work as advertised.
    This couldn't be useful in any data center, as it doesnt work on the only 2 types of fiber typically used in a DC (BIF G.657.A1/2/B or any multimode)
    So what can it trace, nothing in production for sure. IT works with a VFL as the light source, but not a trasceiver.
    It also cant be used in PON, because, ive treid it. Lab scale tests wiht insane amounts of effort to proove it to work. Doesnt, simply doesnt. Scam basically

    Hello Exfo, I wonder if this identifier can be used for long distances , I mean can I use the tone modulator to troubleshoot fiber instead of vfl. Thanks so much.

      This instrument will work on distances as long as the signal itself can travel. The modulation tone is carried by the traffic signal itself. So as long as the signal os not going through regeneration, the instrument will work.
