- Multi-instrumental artist CAM FORRESTER performs an authentic cover of 'Sunday Morning' by The Velvet Underground (first released as a single in December of 1966), also featuring British-Norwegian vocalist CAROLINE DAWSON, who recreated the ethereal backing vocals originally performed by Nico, towards the end of the song.

Sterling hated playing bass but he always came up with such badass basslines
Incredible. Great, great job, mate!
Gorgeous!
There are lots of contenders, but Nico, on this song gave us the greatest “lalala” ever!
Merry Christmas, and thank you for these exquisite covers.
It occurs to me that I’m going to hear this as a Christmas song from now on! Which is OK.
Now try to imagine an alternate universe where the Velvet Underground made a Christmas album! Or, maybe barely more plausibly, this song became a hit, and they appeared on the Andy Williams Christmas special or some similar 60s variety show. What Christmas song would they have performed? The notion is of course preposterous, but a lot of preposterous things happened in the 1960s!
To me, it was important for Lou to be singing such a delicate song instead of Nico. It shows perfectly how fragile men can be which was very uncommon for it's time and still to this day at some degree. Anyway, another great performance from both of you and Merry Christmas!
You're absolutely right; Lou gave it a quality that Nico - despite her incredible voice and talent - never could, although her beautiful background vocals at the end were a great compliment to the song. Thanks for your lovely feedback and a very Merry Christmas to you too!
Fantastic, as usual. I couldn't imagine any other track kicking off the Banana album.
Simply Glorious. Happy 2023
Excellent cover. The vocals are great.
I really gotta turn on my notifs. How could I have missed this! Anyways, thank you. Hope you have a wonderful year ahead!
Haha yeah you gotta ring that bell! And thanks mate, you too! Glad you enjoyed this 😉
@@CAMFORRESTER Yeah, the bell is on now
😅 Anyways, here's to hoping for new content.
This is one of my all time favourite songs & you have really done a fantastic job here. I'm enjoying seeing all your songs by the Velvet Underground especially how you deconstruct the songs afterwards. I'm old enough to have enjoyed the Velvets back in the day & it's great to see these songs being appreciated again. Good work !!
Much appreciated, thank you!
Lovely and those bass lines were beautiful. Thank you, one of my favorite songs.
Beautiful version and cool video! And here I thought I was the only one who could hear Nico towards the end…….Merry Christmas!
luminous✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Keeper of the flame 🔥
Awesome cover. Can you release an instrumental to this?
Thanks! A lot of effort went into all of these recordings to make them as faithful to the originals as possible.
Unfortunately they are not available as instrumentals for copyright reasons.
Great job Happy Holidays
Fantastic
this is a great christmas gift. thanks cam!
god i love these so much
Love that cover!
Truly wonderful.
Merry Christmas to you.
Ah Cam) Such a sweet thing)
Great work, thanks
I've been watching this channel non-stop for the last week, great job!
As a request, You should make a video about getting the vu tone, like amps and amp settings, guitars, pedals etc.
Greetings from a fellow musician and vu fan from México!
That is indeed on my list! Glad you're enjoying my content; there are new videos in the works, so look out for new releases over the next few months!
Great work!
Perfecta elección para estas fechas!
Well done!! Thank you__

It's just a matter of listening closely to each instrument on the original recording, remembering as many of the subtleties in the performance as possible, replaying it using the same or similar instruments, and then mixing & mastering the track with a balance and stereo image that matches the original.
It's no small task, but it can be a very interesting process, as you frequently discover details in the recording that you never really noticed before.
I also really like Lou’s live version recorded on the album “Animal Parade” which gives this track an extra icy twist by playing more slowly.
Nice take on this, but probably would have even been better if you hsd Cale playing the celeste here instead of the keyboards, although he did play both on this track.
Yeah I can't actually remember what decided me to mime the piano part on this one rather than the celeste...it was a while ago now! I think it may have been that I added the piano later, so that was more in-memory at the time I filmed the performance scenes.
It was special to hear the Celeste in a rock/pop styled song!
Just lovely. A great Christmas gift--thank you, Cam and Caroline!
So, I read somewhere that the tape of "Sunday Morning" was allegedly sped up after recording Lou's vocal to raise his pitch (which is why a lot of people think it isn't him singing this song)...and that this may have been done on other Velvets cuts as well. What do you know about this?
Happy holidays!
Varispeed was used on many of their recordings, so it would be no surprise to me if it was also used on this track!

Feel the wigs and sunglasses need more love.
The costumes and wigs are fabulous. Lots of love for the look!
Maaate, this is cool as fuck. Bravo.
Drop us a message!
What an excellent recreation! Do you think we’ll see the standard tutorial and background for this performance or is it just going to be the performance mock-up? Either way I’m extremely happy that this is out there, I can’t wait to fully study that solo break.
I opted just for the performance with this track, as there aren't really any unusual tunings or guitar voicings etc., it's all fairly simple and easy to learn just from listening/watching. The only that has an unusual melody is the viola, which I played using a sample on my Nord Electro 6D.
@@CAMFORRESTERYeah that makes perfect sense, can’t wait for IWFTM!
I am recording my own backing track for this as I type. Just clocking some additional notes you’ve got in your bass line.
Wow beautiful. Did Cale play Celeste on the original?
He did indeed. He was responsible for all of the keyboard playing on the debut album.
Very nice recreation. What about those strings heard around 3:10? Did you play those on the same keyboard?
Yes the viola part was played using a sample on my Nord Electro 6D.
@@CAMFORRESTER Thanks!
You gotta do There she goes again.
I have recorded it, but I'm not entirely happy with how that one came out, and can't quite put my finger on why...I'll revisit it in the new year, and we'll see ;)
@@CAMFORRESTER I will look forward to it, and if you tour with an 'EPI' I will be first through the door .
Is your amp the ad120vth? If so, how do you like it? Love your videos btw.
Yeah it's a great sounding and versatile amp, and really looks the part!
What keyboard synth program is droning along??
It's a Viola sample on a Nord Electro 6D
In what tuning is the guitar? Also, happy christmas dude!

Merry Christmas to you too!
Not that you need any; but do you have any other hobbies??
Hammond Organ playing & servicing/maintenance, Classic Cars, Vinyl Record Collecting, Roller Skating, Dancing, Travelling...just off the top of my head 😅
