The expansion of ULEZ has made it clear that the role of Mayor should not have so much power that he can single-handedly inflict such a financial burden to so many people. The ULEZ expansion needs to be scrapped.

I am 71 and still run my small business to keep me solvent, my van has had a new engine fitted 6 years ago and passes the MoT easily. I now have two options, as the gent said I will have to pass the money onto my customers, this I estimate to be £50 to each one. The other option is scrap the van, loose my independence and worst of all, start claiming benefits for my rent and bills and just become a burden on society instead of supporting them. I will be there on the 25th.
Crazy situation. Hope the ULEZ expansion gets put off for all our sakes. See you on 25th!

I live in London and the air is fine. My kids have grown up in London and they are fine.Sadiq Khans kids grew up in London and they are also fine.
A lot of businesses are no longer booking advanced work in those areas.. builders using fuel based machinery .. diggers.. dumpers..cement mixers..generators.. already banned from use in London.
The city will fall if this goes ahead.
I worked on different substations throughout my life, getting my tools, work and living away gear, to and from London, would be impossible.
I'm not on my own with never wanting to work in London again.

Bromley Council's Council Leader stating, quite rightly that the care of the elderly will be taxed for those who visit by their private vehicle. Imagine the weekly cost of daily visits and all with negligible air quality improvements. The ULEZ expansion is truly vile and, for those who provide care for others, it is cruel.
For the lady who asked herself why the government isn’t doing anything; that’s cause the government funds this! A mayor hasn’t got the ‘power’ people think they have. S Khan wouldn’t be able to do anything without the support of the government. People don’t understand politics and that’s the problem. I’m a commercial airline pilot and I also run a small Sameday courier network with a 2015 berlingo diesel! I’m actually moving to Liverpool and changing bases as I just don’t like london anymore (born and raised). The mayor has ruined this once great city! My business will run up north now which is a shame
Sadiq Khan has used air quality and improvement to health as the main point of his campaign for expanding ULEZ, claiming that in London alone, it cold save up to 20, 000 lives a year.
Having read some ones FOI request on recorded deaths due to air pollution in London over the last twenty one years, it revealed that only ONE death as been recorded with any plausible connection to air pollution, so it must be asked where Fuhrer Khan got his figures from.
It should be noted that over just the last two years, there have been recorded 238 murders in the capitol (most of them probably knife crimes) and a senior Met police sat has said "the capital is 'fantastically safe'. " These figures seem to go against that and are not a good advert for the city..
As Sadiq Khan over sees the Metropolitan police, maybe he should spend the money on places where it would be more effective at saving lives, and not just penalise drivers for no health benefit.

Thanks for that reply and I knew I had picked it up from some one on here, but ironically following the link to knife crime in London, only today at around 04.40 this morning, there was another knife killing in our lovely capitol city. Another one for Khan to hide away from and ignore, after all he can't make money from people getting murdered.
one London borough where he said there were the highest deaths, the leader was the on the radio saying his borough has the highest amount of elderly people, so there's going to be more deaths anyway, and there is no proof that they were dying of pollution. And if they had, they were around when London was genuinely polluted years ago.

@@colinwashington8427 I have not heard of the fog in the 50's, but being from Birmingham I have heard of the industrial smog from the chimneys of the heavy industry in the area, and the nearby Black Country.

WellI I am the 60 year old son who drives every Sunday from Ruislip to Maidenhead to deliver my mothers food shop.
So if this comes into force it will cost me 12.50 each Sunday.
The fact I also use my Mitsubishi for work Monday to Friday working just outside the North Circular, this will be another £62.50 a week and as a self employed man this would hit me badly.

@@BrownCarGuy I actually feel sorry for families where the money earner is on PAYE.
They are usually on a fixed known income, so adjusting their earnings to their outgoings is not possible.
I as a self employed man, if the work is available I can always work a weekend day plus I can to some extent incorporate the charge into my estimates for jobs in the ULEZ areas, which looks to be every job as from this coming August.
Unfortunately my tools and ladder carrying 2007 Mitsubishi Shogun cost me £10,000 5 years ago, the ULEZ equivalent from 2015 now are still making £15,000 and up, my car now is worth about £6000 but plummeting every day due to the ULEZ rules and to scrap it I would need more than £3000 to put a deposit on a newer ULEZ free model.
I read this morning that most countys surrounding outer London, i.e., Surrey, Kent, Essex, and Hertfordshire, have refused to allow Khan to install ULEZ warning signs and cameras in their county's. #Power to the people.
Come on Enfield and Barnet. This needs to be scrapped.
If he tries to put up warning signs in Hertfordshire, we have buckets of paint and brushes on broomsticks ready to edit them.

As a Canadian my hope and prayer is that people will continue to fight back against this madness. Perhaps if the people can organize themselves enough they can start doing things like spray painting over all the cameras, or getting the licence plate numbers from members of city council and sending the fines to them. People are generally quite inventive and if they can work together as a team there should be many creative ways to overturn foolish laws made by foolish men in power. All the best. And great video. People talk about compliant cars. Why wouldn't Khan shift the rules to make compliance harder to raise more money. Then when he's squeezed all he can from that policy switch to congestion charging. Thanks for keeping us updated about Ulez. One report said 85% of cars in the outer London zone are ulez compliant which means only 15% are not. As hundreds of older cars are taken off of the road every day this number will diminish through natural wastage anyway. No one seems to raise this point.

the people can override any legislation either local or countrywide. You have the right under English common law to hold a court with 12 jurors who can vote yes or no to any law. This can be done at local level or parliament level. You can also send a minimum of 4 registered post letters to the council directing them to alter legislation by your will. Simply start your letter with "It is my will that...." A process seldom used but a very powerful instrument where parliamentary process is concerned.

@@GWAYGWAY1 it is parliamentary process. All politicians are scared of losing their seats. 4 or more letters stating the will of the people stirs dumb politicians into action. It is simple mathematics based on opinion polls that politicians are always looking at to form policy.
Government serves the will of the people...and in law, your will be done.
Any law can be altered....politicians vote on law change, change the will of the politician. You have the Westminster system...which is rarely used but still stands in law. What you believe is democracy is republican propaganda.
A book written called "Your Will Be Done" by Arthur Chresby will show you how this works.
Under English common law you also have the right to enter a "Petition Of Right" to the King. Get enough of those together and see what happens.....because...once you have a Petition sitting on the King's bench...nothing can be done/changed/moved until that petition is adjudicated o by the King. You can stall the implementation of any works for ever.
English law is there to protect people from tyranny....use it.

I heard a story from France 🇫🇷 although not sure how true it is? The government there had a national drive to expand the use of speed cameras but within days of the installation a large proportion of those installed had been destroyed or damaged! The plans were abandoned! The French have a well known history of direct action!

I watched a video a few days ago and there was an unmarked police in it. It was a 21 plate hybrid. The reg was visible, so I decided to check it out and compare it to my 10 plate 1.8 petrol car. My car puts out 183 co2's and the newer hybrid puts out 212 co2's. I thought newer hybrid cars were meant to be better for the environment? 🤷♀

@@mrade5321 that Volvo is actually pretty much a high performance vehicle with 300bhp thanks to being both supercharged and turbocharged. It’s only a ‘Mild hybrid’, which means it’s running as a petrol car all of the time. With MHEV ( mild hybrid) cars the hybrid bit is just to help make stop-start smoother and provide a further boost when accelerating. It’s a new car so it will obviously be Euro 4 compliant. Your car should also be ULEZ compliant, but it has lower emissions because it’s set-up for efficiency rather than high performance driving, plus smaller car, smaller engine etc.
Khan doesn't want you to comply, he wants you to drive your current car and pay the charge.
That’s the point of this he’s it kills 4000 people a year he says if we all pay 12.50 then he won’t worry about killing anyone. I live inside the A406 and A205 let’s hope if he cancels this extension which j hope he does it’s a bloody shambles then he should cancel Ulez completely we live in hope
Don’t be fooled into thinking that you are not concerned as your car is exempt.
Think and look outside the box.
This deliberate extortion racket is not about air quality, it is first a tax, a toll on mobility and freedom of movements and freedom of choices.
Once the cameras are in place, as the vehicles are registered in your name, “Authorities” can monitor your activities and start limiting by force your movements, control your income, your decisions, your every day’s choices.
Think of the “Oxford 15 Minutes City”, think of the next control tool, the “Carbon Personal Allowance” that is non other than the ultimate dystopian nonsense, the prison without walls, the end of individual liberties and human rights as we know them today.
Don’t be caught sleepwalking, this is happening now, unless we stop it when we still can.
Don’t believe this shameful fabrication, don’t be fooled by this vertu signalling political propaganda, stop this madness now.

Expose this deliberate attempt to ignore and cancel Article 2 of the Protocol No. 4 to the European Convention
on Human Rights: Freedom of movement.
The immediate purpose of the cameras is road charging (by 2026) where they charge for each car journey. They could effectively create ‘15 minute cities’ by charging extortionate rates, creating digital allowances/permits or fining you for going too far. The possibilities are endless.
Are these the unhealthy people struggling to breathe ? One little human being ruining life for others.

All those cameras MIGHT be used for road pricing but could equally be used for a full blown "social credit" style economy i.e. an open prison in which you gain or lose priviliges according tour behaviour, QR codes, CBDCs, and all the other "innovations" are aimed at absolute control.
