    The dialog in the encounter with Aerith makes a lot more sense now, thank you for sharing this! I always thought it was weird that she says no one is coming to attack Cloud, like, what would make her think that (especially since 2 seconds later Shinra troops attack lol). Now I know she meant no one *with her* is going to attack him. Cloud telling her to keep her distance also makes more sense. Anyways thanks again and thanks for this series! Long time lurker on your channel.

    You guys talking about Cloud's height, and him kind of constructing his persona on the go because he's basically fresh out of escaping Hojo's lab still, and mentally still a 16 year old, made me think of something. There's this moment in remake part 1 that I absolutely adore. First time running into Rude and he says something to the effect of "wait a minute, are you the one that beat up my friend?" talking about Clouds fight with Rude. Now these Turks, they know damn well Cloud is no Soldier 1st Class. Even if they didn't know every soldier 1st class personally they'd be able to tell something was off. He's obviously infused with Mako, and ridiculously strong but... he gets right up in Rude's face, has to look up at this man who's like 5 - 6 inches taller than him and built like a brick house, and says "What if I am?" with no sense whatsoever that he should be intimidated by this man. That's like the ultimate Cloud moment man. Whatever he is, or isn't, he's a cocky lil shit. I think what made him so powerful and dangerous is they took this lil man so hungry to prove himself with the personality of a pissed off honey badger, put him on the juice and set him loose. Couple that with wanting to impress the two hottest chicks on the planet and having all the head issues you can manage lol

    I’m loving this series Seal! It’s a great refresher, riding the theory train for the past few years, it’s easy to forget certain details. This is really helping me keep things consistent.
    @Koniving great stuff here in your comments, your input combined with Seals knowledge paints a really vibrant picture of the story. Appreciate ya!

    Just clicked for me. With the false flag here, the dropping of Sector 7, the tornado, and it being clearly relayed to the player that Shin-Ra is looking to move away from Midgar .......this place is going to be a giant mess of a metropolis when we parachute into it later on. Going to be very little up keep done by the powers to be with all the other priorities going on. Can't wait to see how decrepit this place gets.

    So whenever they grunt in this game, it's tied to the facial capture and by having an audio the facial capture also presents intended expressions to display. These grunts also tell you whose face you should be looking at at that point in time.

    29:15 This little bit of conversation is completely different in Japanese. Aerith says ‘In flower language, these symbolise reunion.' Cloud, who thinks she’s a scam artist (that's why he mutters 'just my luck'), replies something along the lines of ‘I'm strong/I can take care of myself’, warning her not to mess with him. So Aerith then says, ‘Oh, you think I have a guy waiting to attack you? Relax! There’s no one.’
    In English, it comes across as she’s hitting on him and he’s warning her he’s a baaaad boy. That ‘No one’s going to attack you line’ confused the hell out of me until I read the JP translation

    32:40 Shinra oil. Oil is used in many attacks, used to be an attack from specific types of MP/SS from the OG game. In the on the way to a smile novels and advent children, Barret becomes an oil miner using an old Shinra oil rig. Cid explains that before mako, they used oil but old gasoline combustion engines were dangerous, and diesel engines were amazing with mako, quickly becoming mako engines and revolutionizing the industry. In the sewers under the slums you can find lots of gasoline cans, as in the Kids are Alright, the old sewers still had gas powered motors and enough gasoline laying around that Don Corneo was able to make a killing selling gasoline.
    According to Cid, most large aircraft and early Shinra rockets were too dangerous because they tended to explode. The first ten went kaboom, making rocket 11 in wall market something special.
    It's my personal theory that this exploding and unreliable projectile problem is why missiles of a large size don't exist, and why giant cannons exist instead.
    Followup on pricing, symbols for prices are also different. In the slums it's in gil, up on the plate it's in a different currency entirely.

    45:02 there seems to be a minimum of two sects of whispers. Notably there are a group of four whose actions are Not documented in Ultimania and their actions always contradict. Also, four whispers in Sephiroth key art for remake.

  • @Koniving
    @Koniving Год назад +1

    19:26 and 1:08:34 this is what told me something is wrong. Sephiroth doesn't deny dying. Every version of the Nibelheim scene changes how Sephiroth falls into the mako, and for every iteration it goes for ensuring one thing... To convey that in every version, that's not death. That's unconsciousness, that's falling without flight, that's a choice, that's...never, ever, death. Ultimania omega specifies he goes into a long sleep. At no point in this history in the compilation has he died before the end of ff7. And yet there's not only a lack of denial, Sephiroth calls it their crowning moment...a moment that hasn't happened yet. Even world preview says he disappeared and is presumed dead. Not dead, presumed.
    And Nomura is the main author of Ultimania omega... And the references to advent children where he has died....how tongue in cheek.

    Good to see you again, Seal. These last few months with all the trailers has been fun. A lot of theories I've had have disappeared, but that's part of the fun! Just seeing how incredible remake was and upcoming rebirth looks is great. I feel like this series will compliment OG very well. Like jelly does for peanut butter lol rock on brother!!! Of course, living in Rochester, this week I'm not so scared of Sephiroth and Jenova, as I am Mahomes and Kelce lolol

    The fact you mentioned the whispers were there to keep Aerith there and stop her leaving shows us she wasn't waiting for us (which I thought was the case after Sephiroth held us up), which is proof she doesn't have future memories yet so OG Aerith hasn't interfered yet, the only thing that makes me think otherwise is her reference to Reunion flower n depending on the customer its free 🤔
    Was OG Aerith using the whispers at the start to plant herself in modern Aerith? She says later that ever time the whispers touch her she loses a piece of herself. I thought that was reference to the whispers stealing OG Aeriths memories so she cant change fate but now I think it might be modern Aerith talking about OG overwriting her with every whisper touch.
    It's incredibly sad when you think of it this way. This poor girl that doesn't get to live her own life essentially having her body stolen for the good of the planet (it's one thing for OG Aerith to sacrifice herself of her own free will but to bodysnatch someone else and take that choice away from her is even sadder and darker) 😢
    It would also mirror how Sephiroth was using the whispers to slowly piece himself together through memories since we know that they can take memories was Sephiroth using them for memory retrieval?
    4 years and it still gets the theory juices flowing, that's why I love Remake 😂

    16:22 if you read the road signs leading up to station square it also states that it is a government building, I can't remember exactly it was like a city hall. And I recall a reference to a sector 8 Congress. Which implies that each sector has its own town/city hall and Congress pretending to pass laws when Shinra is actually running things. Overall, I noticed they are really ramping up the political backgrounds of the world, including things like ceasefire over end of war.

    30:30 I think you missed something key, check Aerith's eye tracking before and after touching Cloud, and her expressions. She's "seeing" then for the first time too. Before she is swatting at air without knowing where, just feeling them. It's them touching each other. From then on every single person that sees them has physically touched Cloud in a scene.

    Regarding the look of the vehicles, I agree, sort of VW like but also I get the impression of like soviet era cars, where designs didn't really change much over the years as if it's all one "company" building them, no reason to really innovate with no competition so generally you just see a lot of bland cars that rarely get updates.

      @@ryanharrison3118 @jimsface you both make valid points… in the OG when he tells the story at Kalm he tells the story as if he was Zack right? If we agree on that then how would he remember that he was the one that “killed” sephiroth? In the OG we didn’t see sephiroth in Midgar so this dialog is new when he mentions that he killed sephiroth already in this chapter…I think we have to wait and see how he tells the story at Kalm when rebirth comes out…

    • @off-meta-michael
      @off-meta-michael Год назад

      In the OG at kalm Cloud assumes he killed sephiroth because the reports were that he died. After the kalm flashback is over Cloud says thatbhe must've killed him, but doesn't actually remember doing it.
      So in Remake it could be that he's always assumed that this is what happened when he says he killed him.
