When I lived in Tirrenia, Italy, as a 12 year old, I explored beyond the local soccer field, and not far I found a Spaghetti Western movie set, abandoned, but definitely authentic. Old saloon fronts, and artificial caves, and all sorts of Western sets.
Augsburg is more than "Just a few miles from Berlin"... Augsburg is just north of Munich. I was stationed there during the Cold war in the mid-1980s. Beautiful city full of very friendly people. I stopped back there in 2002 while working nearby. I got lost and a German man, working in his yard invited me into his home and he and his entire family gathered around and got out a map to help me. When I drove away the whole family stood outside and waved goodbye... I really miss Augsburg! BTW, the city was founded in 15BC by the Roman Emperor Augustus (hence the name) and if you ever get a chance you should visit.
You missed Sweethaven, the set for the 1980 movie "Popeye" in Malta. After the film wrapped, the residents kept the cluttered town set up and now it's a tourist attraction there.
The location of MASH was later used for Tour of Duty when the Camp moves from Korea to Vietnam...So many of these locations are interesting for different fans. And sometimes its more fun to visit real locations that are not abandoned, for example the Monroeville shopping center from Dawn of the dead (1978) where you can buy some Zombie items, or the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in LA where Arnold rides into the Lobby on a Police Horse, are the locations from Wanderers or The Warriors in New York where nothing is changed... Long time ago i visited the location of Quadrophenia in Brighton, and finally as a fun fact: I live in a real TV series location. In the mid 80s the german TV made lots of scenes here in this house, on the parking lot etc, and i remember about the couriosity and the thrill of all neighbours if their favourite actors will do some scenes here...esp the young girls were crazy about the young goodlooking "Son of the head family"... When i watch the scenes on YT now i have fun, i mean the head role actor enters the house, next scene its filmed from inside, but the stairway never looked that way. That was filmed in Berlin in another Town. I remember when the crew asks for silence, and tell the neighbours NOT standing on balcony while filming, and one day my wife comes home, enters the stairway and diturbs the complete scene that was filmed in that moment...
Yeah, and there are many photos of it available online. So why did this poster use photos of the actual Alamo in San Antonio instead of pictures of the movie set?
John Wayne's Alamo was not filmed at the Alamo. The Duke built a movie set in Brackettville Texas that came to be known as Alamo Village, and was a tourist attraction for decades. Last I read, it had been closed and was falling quickly into disrepair. Much of it, especially movie props, were sold off in 2018.
"the mansion was built in North Brackettville, Texas", the Alamo is a mission and both the original Alamo and the set are tourist attractions. Far too many times in this video, and interior view is showing against the words "you can't get inside" Fairly junky
The town, Roslyn, from the TV show, Northern Exposure, can be visited today. It is in Washington state, up near Snoqualmie Pass, and Falls. This is east of Seattle, on I-90.
You should check out the Savannah railroad museum, in Savannah GA, its where they filled 80 of the movie Glory staring Mathew Brodwick, Morgan freeman and Denzel Washington.
There's a set I've visited in Spain, it's about 20 miles north of Almería. It's open to the public & called Mini Hollywood! Clint Eastwood filmed his spaghetti westerns there. I've stood inside the bank which was robbed in one of the films. Across the road is a place called Fort Bravo, which is also open to the public although I don't know if any films were made there!
I've been to mini Hollywood i wore my own cowboy hat and boots . Loads of photographs. Id a beer in the saloon then played a shooting game and gained a lot of fans from the kids watching me, being a fan of westerns this was a dream came true.
The Star Wars set has not always been very well kept. In fact, it was left to rot after the original trilogy and was buried and location was lost. When making the original they rediscovered.
Sorry to disappoint any hikers headed to the MASH set. Despite the assertions of the narrator, you will 6 have any ocean views as the set is 4.5 miles from the ocean with a 2,000+ foot peak in between. Be prepared for hot and dry.
There is some wonderful and interesting sets to see. Love the Star Wars sets and the hobbit beautiful hilly homes or cabins love to have a house like that. There is also dcary looking places. But its worth if one can tour these places.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

I love that! Thank you for sharing that with us.
Where's the ship on the valley? Disliked.

I did not know that. Thank you so much. I am going to look it up.
so we're just going to skip the entire village built and maintained for Popeye?!

The Alamo movie set used to be open to the public, but its been closed for a dew years now. Its in Bracketville, Tx

Also a Mission not a Mansion
Movie Spector? Nope. The movie was Big Fish
My favorite is the complete town set from the movie _Popeye,_ with Robin Williams.
It is located on the Mediterranean island of Malta.
Did you really say the movie was called Spectre and the TOWN was called Big Fish? 😂😂😂😂😂
Not a movie, but the set of Bonanza, town and Ponderosa were still near Reno Nevada.
video is 10x better if you fast forward to 1.75x.

You showed clips/still shots from the 1977 film "The Hills Have Eyes", but claimed the movie premiered in 2006. That was the remake/reboot.
Wow I didn't know that. Cool have to look it up and watch it
Where's the boat????
Really. Its all about the boats.

True story... I have been to all of those places plus the town of Twin Peaks...
I had no idea a series based on the Bates Motel was ever made.
What about the Shawshank prison and I don't know if it's still there about the abandoned set of The Abyss shot in an unfinished nuclear power plant.
The Alamo was a Mission not a Mansion. All the pictures shown are of the actual Alamo not the movie set. Set is pretty cool been there a few times
There is an error... one of the sets is the city of Spectre in the movie big fish... not big fish town in the movie spectre...
Yeah i was wondering about that... i was sure i had seen that town, but was confused when he said "from the movie Spectre"
I do live in Louisiana and plan on checking it out.
Big fish... Underrated movie.....
The company left a pile of junk. They should be fined.
They should have to clean up the mess they make instead of leaving it there

Don’t Forget The Cafe’ In Madrid New Mexico, In The Movie, Wild Hogs.
Bates Motel was torn down in 2017 apparently.
The mall was also used in a big fight off in teenwolf TV series.
You skipped the mental hospital in Salem Oregon. It was used in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. I grew up in Salem and drove past it many times.
Thanks but you're missed sooo many.. like true grit in Ridgeway co etc. Hopefully you make more including tv shows 😉
Johnny Depp long gone??
I think Depp has been "canceled" due to his mistreatment of his ex.

So many errors in this video...
Hm, it's creepy that many (most?) of these sets are from Horror movies. ;-)
1:25 .... when did they move the Alamo to North Carolina?
The Alamo wasn't a mansion.
Gone girl my ass! That’s the asshole from “Fashionable Male”. If you get that reference we’re homies for life…
Waverly Hills is haunted as Faq!
If you build it they will come.
You forgot the city of Pharos from the 10 commandments located at Pismo Dunes
Another bad video with bad info. I don't know a lot about movies, but I do know there are lots of mistakes in this.
What’s wrong and what is the correction
Augsburg is "a few miles outside Berlin"? Ha ha ha! It's near Munich but very far from Berlin! Poor fact checking in this video.

So no carbon footprint from Hollywood!
His voice is a little irritating
AI spliced together.
First
If you build it they will come.
