6:30 = Bjorn: traffic is realy busy. I see 3 cars. 😂😂
This dash design definitely better than hyperscreen.
Agree, as most of the car journalists say so. Go for this set-up, safe a lot of money and avoid reflections.
I don't like the hyperscreen at all and imagine if an accident happens that crack the glas or something. That will be a brutal price to replace and it's not that you get any real benefit with it either, you even loose the 3d instrument cluster.
@@Wifyish Price doesn't matter in such luxury category. It is part of the status symbol that everything is brutally expensive. Brakes, screen, you name it.
Didn’t realise you could get it without that god awful screen!
@@edc1569 you can get it the way you like it. Just as it should be and unlike Tesla, where dictator Musk knows what is good for you.
remember to ABC - avoid broken chargers
Thanks, looking forward to the 1000 km with maybe only 1 charging stop.
Agree the screen is tilted to much so one needs to stretch to touch.
That would be really interesting. One 40 min stop should be enough and cruising 120km/h all the way would produce a time of exactly 9 hours. Or maybe optimize a bit with two 15 min stops for a 8:50 time.
Absolutely agree. We love our EQS 450+. The range is absolutely amazing
Thanks for the interesting video. I think the ultimate range config would be: 450+ + AMG Line exterior + 19" wheels or 20" 5-spoke aero.
The 450+ has the most efficient drivetrain. The AMG Line exterior and the smaller wheels reduce drag.
Btw 14:35 Still no recuperation. Was that intentional?
Your videos have not been recommended for me for months.. have a lot of catching up to do! :) Hope you are great.
Sub!
A great overall package, but you also have to pay for it.
A year ago, the EQS was tested in Switzerland for the first time and the consumption corresponds 1:1 to the current values.
Great car, no question, but it didn't turn out to be the miracle vehicle that some wrote or hoped for.
3:59 See Hans? I told you there was a reason why we laminated this one before giving it to Bjorn.
You did it, and you did it well. Bravo!
Phenomenal! What a range and how low the cunsumption is. I forecasted this already when you did the test on the 580, last winter.
Glad you showed us this is by far the best EV in the world.
Lucid Air would like a word. "Best EV in the world".
@@Jeroenneman Not even close. The software is bad and US build quality is even worse.
excellent result
Simply amazing!
Dacia Spring 1000 km challenge :) You are crazy :)
Would watch... What a pain!
Long waited test! Also try eqe 350+ you will be amazed by consumption even more :) hope to see this test during summer time
EQE should theoretically be even better on range if it’s a bit lighter? This will need a traditional estate version to follow, to keep current E Class buyers!
Good luck Sunday driving this beast! It will almost be a 2 day test
Nope
$xx with the leather 😂
Super nice pronunciation of Dacia, Bjorn! Finally somebody on youtube does it's name justice, haha
Bjorn you are the best 😂😂😂
Why "75 % range" column shows only 65 % ?
75 % of 711 km = 533 km (331 mi)
75 % of 539 km = 404 km (251 mi)
Arctic Circle with one 20min charging stop 🤯
Blurs the speed but keeps it perfectly readable 🤣🤣🤣
Would love to see you test eqs awd on summer tyres roll resistance A or B
Yes
Damn that's better than a lot of fossil cars
I hope you get to test a Fisker Ocean soon!
I was testing the EQE and the i4 M50 recently with some friends. The EQE is the lot more expensive car and has a lot of bling bling as well as more luxury. The i4 is more down to earth. It is the perfect combination of sportiveness and comfort.
For people who want a cool EV for a decent price, the i4 m40 and the model 3 dual motor long range are state of the art. Unfortunately the i4 waiting time is really long. The dealer in Munich said, he could sell 10 - i4 per day and he does not get a single one ☝🏻
Wait till you see the wait times on the better EV6 or GV60... better cars, true, but the wait times are just too much
Norway gets over 92% electricity from its own hydro, 6 or 7 from wind. Sells its oil to others of course. So why is the price set on some European or even global rate? This free market thing is weird
Even if I could afford it, I couldn't possibly justify it, but would love to rent one for birthday treats and other special occasions.
Big front intake vents, are they functional?
Will be interesting to see whether the EQE is more practical with similar levels of comfort and better efficiency.
Wow!
Nice rims and interior!
Really like it!!! But sooo expensive though. Is the screen/infotainment as snappy as one as hyperscreen?
🤣🤣 at “very busy roads today!! 😝
You should test EQS 53 as well. And do Taycan turbo with the software update
Looking forward to see what you think of the BMW i7
I'm looking forward for the NIO ET7 review. good job
More eqs please
when will you test dacia spring? 😀
For the sunday drive you are gonna need to bring camping gear :D
The EQS AWD has two PM Motors
Genesis G80 is here and also should be a good car for long range driving. Please test it
do the all wheel drive now
What is the name of the app for the GPS speed?
What a job to have
If you keep the paddles pressed for 2 seconds, the automatic will start.
And If you then press the EQ button on the bar under the middle of the screen, you can choose even lower energy consumption
Maybe they should put a short manual for all the hidden key combos behind the sunscreen.
@@davids.6671 or just read the user manual, unless you are self-taught ;)
What about a specific "Taxi Challenge" for this car in particular ?
Max range in city / ring / airport driving conditions to simulate a chauffeur's journey.
Whoa, wait - how did the car start with strong recuperation? My EQS only starts in Normal always.
Problem for me... This car is a fair bit more expensive than a Model S Long Range, and I'd honestly still have the Tesla.
Bjorn and his doors and leather. ;)
The problem is, MB does not include a heat pump, so in the City area the consumption is a "Katastrophe". (the numbers 450, 500 just presenting the Power in comparsion with the fossil Motors)
I think comnumption in city does not matter much… maybe for taxi …
with this car ‚ambience‘ you never leave the red light district
Lol, you can choose nearly any color you like.
Yeah, really cool interior! Especially Tesla interior has that cheap Ikea ambiance so it's refreshing to see something made for people who appreciate good design. Most people don't like to sit in a office or hospital waiting room inspired interior.
Nightclub on wheels
Im CRAVING to see Lucid on road... jeez
Will you test BMW i7
With a large dog I'm stuck with the tesla X/Y. There's no other brand that takes care of my best friend while he's sleeping in my car during cold/hot temperatures. Unbelievable that other brands aren't providing this option.
I can't help but laugh at Bjorn's notion of "heavy traffic!" Where i live in eastern Massachusetts (USA), the traffic he showed would be considered very light!
Come to Thailand and you will see what real traffic is. But as you probably understood, everything is relative.
I don't expect it to win but it would still be nice to see you test the new long range model S when it's in Europe
Your comment at the end about ioniq 5 awd having good range compared to the rwd is not correct.
Hey Bjorn, I saw a Lucid showroom in Munich with the Air there this month and it seems they are open for business in EU now - give it a shot.
Hi, was the open roof noise disappointing? You don't expect that for a car of this level, right?
Are you driving your whole life in tunnels? Get real, this is one of the most quiet cars on the market.
@@frankblok1743 Yes, I daily have to go through a sequence of short and long tunnels on the motorway to go to work and back. It's like 60% of the journey. Do you own one?
@@Lorenzo_Velasquez stop worrying about it, it's fine. sheesh. nag nag nag
Do not bother with the Dacia Spring...small battery pack, charging at snail speeds
4:58 It says 580 km in the display?
EQS all-wheel-drive has 2 x PSM-motors. Front and back.
The new Tesla Model S and X only use PSM motors as well
Are you also planning to test the EQA 250+ and see how it stacks up against the 250?
No
15:50 so it's cheaper to charge at ionity than at home?
Not if you get the government support, which covers 90% of the cost above 0.7 NOK. It covers up to 5MWh per month for private homes.
Lol, it looks like a Chrysler Cirrus from the 90s.
You should consider Model S or X Plaid before put the BMW i4 to number 2 and MB to number 3.
You don’t need to advise Bjørn about this. Nobody knows more about BEV’s than himself.
I haven't tested Palladium yet.
In what reality does it do 700 km? The one I tried did only 435 km and it had 8% left. I even drove with heater off most of the trip and wasn't hard on the pedal. Will the Oslo to Mo i Rana trips be back some day?
What kind of question is that? You saw the circumstances of the test yourself. Every run of course can differ. It’s even possible that if Bjorn would repeat the exact same test the next day, he would only get 600km if he has a lot of head wind and maybe 3-4 degrees colder temperatures. That’s the „problem“ with EVs, especially if you wanna recreate range tests.
+ means the longest range version
The EQS is a heavy hitter for the price. Comes in at the same price as a new Model S LR and blows the Tesla away in every area it lacks. Service, quality, features, comfort, range...
the EQE is even more compelling imo.
But no octovalve in EQS. It's thirsty in winter.
@@bjornnyland and of course we must remember about Supercharger network. Tesla is not just a car , it is ecosystem. And traveling across Europe through supercharger network is just insane adventure. And of course efficiency. I think in winter Mercedes results will be not such optimistic
Wait until you've driven a 2022 Model S LR...
And the technology that Tesla has. The tech in this EQS looks rubbish. Last time I bought an iPhone wasn't because how comfortable it feels in my hand, but how well its ecosystem work.
Looking Tesla S 2017+ because glass roof is one full piece, and in 2021 Mercedes do this two pieces roof(((
Could the consumption even be better? Seems like you forgot to put recuperation back on?
No
Also king in range vs price.
You get more than that versus. You also get “proper luxury” and fantastic airmatic suspension.
@@frankblok1743 OMG...: Proper Luxury...🤣
I live in Boston, MA...you keep saying there is traffic 6:39...I really think you are trolling.
🙌🏻
Probably the best EV you could currently buy… IF you can afford one!
Not cheap, but i agree
better than tesla y or tesla model 3?
How do you know it has 106kWh? Did you drive it till it stopped driving ?
TBH I hoped for a real 100% to 0% test.
ruclips.net/video/ADejv5yaJjY/видео.html
No doubt Mercedes makes great cars, but with the Chinese coming with similar (not same) offerings at half the price it makes one wonder is the merc 50 percent better to justify the higher cost!
Bro your videos really good but just try something new for opening viedo
What's the problem?
"Ioniq go home" he says ... If my Ioniq is consuming that much, I wonder what I'm doing wrong. Sure, I'd trade my Ioniq with an EQS any day, but all summer long, my Ioniq 28kWh has been reporting a range of 300km at 100% (and I've learned it can't report any higher) and my consumption has been below 10kWh/100km, most often below 9 and a lowest of 7.9.Now give me that EQS and let me see how low I can get it.
How many Ioniqs you can buy for one EQS?
It's cheaper to charge home as you get compensated by the government, for roughly 90% of electricity bill over 0.70kr per KW/h.
*kWh
30km/h less speed and almost extra 200km range. 😮
Aerodynamic drag's formula has velocity squared, so the effort/work done goes up exponentially. If he drives at 70km/h, he may be able to do 1000km
@@MrIlovesubaru no, it goes up quadratically, which is very very different from exponentially.
@@henningbreede6428 You're right. I used the wrong term.
The best or nothing
10:50 yo whats up
Honestly I am more interested in your test of the renault megane e-tech. Already bought it, but still curious about your tests as they are more thorough than most other
So electricity price - welcome "green energie" in action
if 450 is about miles, then we should buy 580 version)
120km/h in super luxury car such like the eqs…
Not if you have 500km to do 🤦🏻♂️
You should do the range test again in germany and drive a least 150km/h on autobahn.
Crazy that the Tesla Model S Raven is still more efficient despite cooler temperatures and 4WD (and it being a high performance vehicle).
Having said that, it does sound/look like the Merc is the nicer place to be and as a consumer the larger pack can be handy (also bearing in mind you won't typically charge to 100% or discharge close to 0%)
$1 Canadian dollar = 7.48 Krone
What about Renault Megane electric?
What about it?
@@bjornnyland Test?
@@tobias7104 Re-No.
Nomen est omen :D
The Cadillac Celestiq and polestar 5 in my opinion look way better than this blob because they retain the traditional sedan shape with a fastback roofline even the lucid air looks way cooler than this bar of soap.
Tesla? Luxury? Not even close. You are correct about the EQS. This is luxury. Tesla is an EV with a mounted IPad.
The iPad comment is also as silly as Tesla luxury car...
btw: ioniq EV gets 9.5 - 12 kWh/100km efficiency :D
Range King - Lucid Air 😘
Better to stick with my Leaf :). Getting 15.6 kwh/100km.
Just imagine, Tesla would put a 106kWh battery into a model 3 LR... in summer that would most likely get to about 780km at 90kmh.
But they don't, so EQS is the King of EV's in most of the relevant disciplines.
@@curioussand1339 until Model S 2021 is tested...
@@ZJasko I said relevant disciplines. The EQS acceleration and top-speed is more than sufficient for public roads.
The lack of sophistication and noise insulation on a Tesla also means you rarely see any Tesla owner use the acceleration and top speed of their vehicle, which is why those disciplines are irrelevant or at best of very minor importance.
@@curioussand1339 Lucid far outpaces any of the Mercedes models in range and performance. Luxury on similar levels. I wouldn't consider Tesla luxury, I consider them more performance.
@@jasonfranciosa Just look the rear seats of a lucid and then compare it with eqs. Huge huge difference. Lucid tries to be luxury. Here and there it's great but the package lacks a lot of luxury stuff
Excellent result,nice car but boring.
