I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for all the updates man.
Excellent job on stitching those clips together OA.
Ha, yeah, that’s a good point.
Sim Update 10 in MSFS2020 has transformed my i9 w/ 3070ti, especially running 4k.
i can run full graphics settings now, at 4k, and still have a very playable and enjoyable frame rate - and the game looks BEAUTIFUL
Excellent video, thank you.
I'm glad I got myself a 3080. For a hobby I enjoy spending so much time with, it was an easy purchase.
Given recent announcements on the price of the 4080, buying a 3080 was definitely the right call.
@@budthecyborg4575 3080's will fly off the shelves now I think.
I’m looking into a 3080 from a 3060
@@druidhugger6311 Really? I'm guessing a lot of people will wait and buy the 4000 series instead.
DX11 vs DX12 woulda been handy, especially with the future vid to compare the driver improvement too 😉👍
I have not tried DLSS, however now you have piqued my interest and need to check it out. Thank you.
Cant wait for the 2080 review. Thanks for all your information.
awesome! thanks!
Just a heads up, you said "Sim Update 13" at the start ;)
I found that turning off the VFR Map is enough to get rid of any CPU bottlenecks that appeared on medium to long flights, or high-detail areas, for me, getting a nice steady ~60fps at 1440p with only a few tweaks from the Ultra preset.
In the brief time I had to play yesterday I was getting a 7 to 10 frame increase with DLSS set to Quality over TAA, with no other changes to my settings. I'll take it.
How about a comparison in the cockpit ? At 1440p I cant read the gauges with DLSS enabled so it doesn't matter if theres a 20% gain in fps or if the scenery out the window looks acceptable.
Exactly. Agree completely. TAA for me!
Lens correction and glare off makes it better with bit of increased sharpness
Had to switch back to TAA also
So much ado for nothing.
that problem is supposed to be fixed with the newest nvidia drivers. Let's cross fingers
DLSS on a 2070 Super laptop is seeing significant performance gains in VR with Oculus Quest 2 and Airlink. I am up to low-medium settings and 75% render scale. Was using low and 50% render scale prior to today. Can’t wait to see if DLSS gives me any improvement on my desktop with the HP Reverb running a RTX 3080.
2070 super laptop? Hmmmm
@@braneden hmmm what?
You got a time machine your not telling us about? ;) thanks for the video 👍
The better frame rate/performance noted when reflying the test might be due to cashing of the scenery.
No it's the optimization on the code and when using the new driver supported even more. Cache do not do any difference. Lots of people saw difference on smoothness and performance.
So far I've seen 0 gain from DLSS on all settings. I'm running on 2 monitors at 3840x1080, i7-11700k, RTX3070 and 32GB ram on an SSD. Nothing in high-ultra. Hoping the new nvidia driver helps getting it going.
Same here. I reckon we need the new drivers from NVIDIA, DLSS usually gives huge performance gains.
Notest diference with DX12? Any idea when NVIDIA GeForce driver will be released?
Hey ...great comparison Ant ...thanks. Oh man ....I just love this update!! We run similar PC's ...(Intel 10900KF water-cooled chip in my case) However; I run triple 43 inch displays @ 60 Hz ...they are low 4K with a native resolution of (3840 x 2160 each) but I'm using a Nvidia resolution setting of 12,288 x 2160. There is not a chance of the 3080 running them all at 4K.
I had my MSFS graphics split with 3 settings ...Low rarely ...Medium mostly ...& High on important things like building detail. BUT ...I'm not certain if it is MSFS improved 3 screen application or DLSS ...but it changed my system so SO much for the better. I now have each window set at only one setting below the native 4K resolution of my displays & was able to increase the graphic values from low to medium!!! I somehow get 30 to 40 fps ...I'm used to this frame rate ...the best I ever got running such big displays was about 50 ...my display's limit is 60 Hz anyway.
I use a TrackIR system & the effect now is so wildly better with the side displays being perfect.
Looking straight down between New York's sky scrappers makes me dizzy.
Thanks again for the vid's.
It was a massive boost for my 3060 card!
This guys like the David Attenborough of flight sim 😂😂
Good channel
So far the only thing I've liked about su10 is multi monitors. Ths dlss hasn't made any difference for me except blurry cockpit in my pmdg 737-700. I hope the new drivers will give me a boost with dx12. Both dx11 and dx12 give me the same fps. 3080ti, I9 10k, 32gig, ssd. Three 2k monitors.
mee too dlss hasn't made any difference for m
For me (running a 3090 + 5950x, SSD and 32Gb RAM, Windows 11 22H2 and nvidia driver 516.94) at 1440p ULTRA, DLSS gives no increase over TAA in frame rate. It does, however, make the game look incredibly blurry (even at the "quality" preset) and the cockpit instruments borderline illegible when not zoomed right in. My expectation is that DLSS will give much more benefit to those running at 4K or higher resolutions and that the new nvidia driver will fix some of the visual anomalies.
Thanks for this info !
A m : are you able to have 4K 50 to 60 fps with high or medium (custom) setting ?
@@bonbondesel I run a 1440p display so I can't say what performance is at 4K. At 1440p (TAA or DLSS) average fps on Ultra is 60-100.
@@Dmeister406 thanks for your answer.
extremely fuzzy here as well..was very disappointed. Had to switch back to TAA
I run the exact same specs as you. Aside from the fact I run 126gb ram. I run in 4K ultra + maxed out settings. I saw absolutely no performance gain at all. The sim didn’t look much blurrier either tho? pretty much the same so I stuck with TAA. 40-45fps on the ground with payware airport (EGKB Biggin hill) and aircraft (Justflight PA-28 piper warrior). 50-58 fps flying.
Is there any word when FSR will be supported?
Not as awesome as it should be at the moment, the dlss doesn’t seem to upscale the display of glass cockpits etc. hopefully this is fixed soon
Does anyone know how to turn off slow internet speed photogrammetry warning. Hopefully everyone's internet is better than mine but it pops up everytime i get downtown...
Can you help fix my controller when I go to the left the plan goes right and when I go to the right it turns left
My VFR map is just blank. Another successful update.
you didn't cover what has been the issue (apparently), the in cockpit visuals with dlss! are the instruments sharp now?? i'm kind of on a "if it ain't broke" mode so haven't tested everything but from what i understand it softens in cockpit textures and thats where i and probably a good chunk of the playerbase spends most of their time!
I mentioned this at 5:40 in the video. It should be fixed with the new Nvidia drivers.
@@ObsidianAnt oh sorry i missed that, just mesmerized at the side by sides i guess!
Hello Ant. I agree that the SU 13 was great, but not compared to the SU 18. That's where it all came together really. Incredible to think about the fact that this sim launched just 4 years ago 👍👍
Greetings from Russway, former Norway.
Is this supposed to be some sort of clever joke? :P
It's that timewarp again!
I'm biased towards SU 16 because it featured South America, comrade
I gather the next SU will fix the approach flyback issue
OK so I wasn't the only one who heard that. I just woke up so thought maybe I needed coffee lol
Seems this update broke hdr. I found reports of the issue in beta test forums, and it persists in the release. Have to switch to windowed mode, and turn hdr off and back on in windows settings to get it to turn on in game. Same in dx11 and 12
I would like to know what resolution the various DLSS quality settings are upscaling from.
It's relative to the resolution it's upscaled to. For 4K it's: Quality is 1440p, balanced is 1253p, Performance is 1080p and Ultra Performance is 720p
It's not a particular resolution, it's a percentage of whatever resolution you run the game at. Google tells me Ultra Performance is 1/3 the horizontal/vertical pixels, Performance is 1/2, Balanced is 7/12 and Quality is 2/3.
So for 1080p:
* Ultra Performance = 360p
* Performance = 540p
* Balanced = 630p
* Quality = 720p
For 1440p:
* Ultra Performance: 480p
* Performance: 720p
* Balanced: 840p
* Quality: 960p
For 2160p:
* Ultra Performance: 720p
* Performance: 1080p
* Balanced: 1260p
* Quality: 1440p
Flew from KMLB to KTTS.
Is it just me, or is there no VAB to be seen? It's a fairly sizable object and pretty hard to miss.
No, the VAB is not present. They included the rocket garden at the KSC in the latest US upgrade, but they missed the biggest, most noticeable structure in Cape Canaveral. You'll have to download a mod to correct this.
@@luisnava437 Its not even particularly complicated geometry...
Very interesting comparison, thank you for that. I did the exact same test with ultra settings and the latest Nvidia driver but my frames with DLSS were exactly the same as with TLAA. I have an Intel Core i7-12700K, Nvidia GPU RTX3090, 64GB ram and the game is installed on a very fast SSD drive. So, I think DLSS is not working on my rig. maybe i'm doing something wrong or I have to change my Nvidia driver settings?
Did you check whether you are CPU bound?
Latest driver 517.40 studio used?
Ultra settings doesn't really cover everything to give you a proper answer. What resolution were you running the sim at? And what DLSS setting did you use - quality, balanced or performance?
@@acurisur 4K @ 3840x2160, I tried DLSS settings quality, balanced & performance
@@BeachClub_1 Using GeForce Game Ready Driver 516.94, not the studio driver or later version
The update runs great but now HDR is broken, I can't get a high brightness image in either DX11 or DX12.
And now the game also crashes regularly in SDR.
Hopefully Nvidia drivers fix everything or I'm going to be really upset with Asobo.
First thank you Mr Ant 🐜
does it work with windows reality VR?
i have a 2080 RTX graphics card with the latest drivers and sim update 10 but still no DLSS can someone help?
Pretty much no FPS difference using quality preset DLSS. It looks like a 480p video though. RTX3080. I guess it's back to using TAA then.
Will the graphics performance of RTX 3090 deteriorate with the currently older Intel I7-6800 CPU? (currently have GTX1060)
Can you zoom frame rates? Hard to see
My frames drop when turning on DLSS with DX11 ! Anyone any ideas why? I've the new studio driver installed?
Try DX12?
@@BeachClub_1 it's still the same a drop in frames? Do we have to drop the quality as I run ultra / max settings? I might need to reduce the resolution down?
As you said,the biggest gain seems to be on high end settings which is what I found and I only have the RTX 3050...................
I tried it for myself. But I'll stick to DX11 and TAA for now and retest it when the new drivers are available.
3900X, 3070Ti, 32GB, Samsung 980 Pro
With my i7 10 and RTX 3080ti there is no difference in frame rates flying over LA, with ULTRA settings. Might help lower end machines
Did you notice whether your CPU utilization was high?
Before the update i had 75fps. Update 10 DLSS my frame rate went down to 45fps. What going on?
if you had 75 fps, why were you turning dlss on to begin with??
So far I'm running the sim in VR ,dlss on / performance mode . Settings between ultra/high... With 90 fps .
Win 10
Rtx 3080
Samsung Evo ssd
32GB ram
genuinely excited about this update. but im gonna wait for the new Nvidia drivers before i play again.
I copied your settings from the first test with TAA and with my PC (5800x, 32gb 3200 ram, 3080ti) the best i get over that spot is 15 fps, and with DLSS on performance mode, i get 16 fps. Have I done something wrong? I have no idea why it is so different. Thanks Ant :)
According to the overlay, I am limited on the mainthread. Strange. Is there anything I can check to see if it's running correctly?
Maybe terrain detail is set to high. Otherwise try do reduce the settings which need especially high CPU resources.
@@BeachClub_1 But my system is identical but i have the gpu up from him, at the same settings, why am i not getting at least similar performance. Just seems like something is wrong.
With DLSS I get about 2x FPS at ultra highest settings except terrain LOD, which i have to leave at 200. 150 for terrain is optimal though.
Pc specs???
@@puteraaditya8008 9600k oc 4.9 AC, 3080 FTW3, 32GB, M.2
What happened to the GPU at 3:07? Bizarre...
Most people are commenting about DLSS, but I haven't seen anything from the AMD crowd. I have a 6600 XT, so I'm curious if AMD users are benefiting from any of the changes. I have the game, but I don't know when I'll have the time to update and check it myself.
It's a stuttering mess with Win 11 22H2 and a G2 headset connected (even if you don't use it). 22H2 seems to have a WMR issue
Absolutely loving DLSS with my 3070.
Works very well for AA too. I prefer it over TAA for both the frames and the AA benefits.
Settings?
@@JadMock I'm just using the generic 'High' setting with LOD turned up to 160 bud. Looks great to me. My monitor is 144hz @ 1440p.
i didnt see a lot of improvement on speed going dlss from taa. i heard it ll be effectiv with the new incoming nvidia drivers to let s wait. But the image is beautiful, very sharp. If you want to check differences , the stadium of madrid is a good exemple, kind of metallic texture with lots of patterns. great test for moiré ,antialiasing, dlss
The game is pretty CPU heavy so that lack of a difference might be the result of a CPU bottleneck.
Dumb suggestion, but make sure you are using DLSS and not DLAA which would make your performance worse but look prettier.
not noticing any improvement on my side but since sim update 10 it runs better tested in NY with the Fenix a
Thanks, gonna give DLSS Quality mode a go on my RTX3080.
Me and tons of other people got 0 FPS gains with DLSS, regardless of the DLSS setting
Who are these tons of other people? And what resolution/settings have you got the sim running at?
@@acurisur Look on the forum, there are tons of people with loads of different GPU's saying they get 0 gains from DLSS from 1080p to 4k on 30 series cards, me on my 2060. And I have a bunch of other games that I play and use DLSS and get FPS benefits out if it
I didnt get any boost with DLSS and 3080. TAA is the same and looks better.
I got similar result on my 3080Ti. TAA is sharper and DLSS doesn't boost much or not at all.
I like this sim update 13 so far
Can’t wait to check out on 4090
Too bad for all us peasants with GPU's that don't have RTX cores, because we either refuse to pay or can't pay more than 500quid for a GPU. ;)
Maybe prices are much different in the UK, but I just looked up an RTX-3060 and here in the states it is $489 which equates to under 450 £. That's not too bad when you're talking about having a motherboard, CPU, and memory that match in performance.
DLSS 2 support means eventual DLSS2FSR support, aka. CyberFSR2, for us peasants 😁
@@SuperFlyCH Goes to show how much I was being asleep during the hardware crisis. I stopped informing myself about new GPU releases after the initial RTX3080 and 3090 releases. And those are still insanely overpriced.
But the 3060 is indeed affordable now. It started at 1000€.
And considering that I don't play over Full HD it would probably the best choice.
Would be great to add FSR for people who don’t have RTX
There's a new Nvidia 517.40 driver (Studio driver, not Game Ready driver yet as of 23 September) which supposedly adds more performance with MSFS.
have you tested?
@@jxk4500 Not yet, I will this weekend. The folks at the MSFS forum seems to think it's good stuff.
Pretty confimed my findings too.... running 3090/12900k/64gb rig.... DLSS doesnt really improve max frames, but brings up the minimum lows scores up very nicely. Dx11 and Dx12 didnt really change much.
I reckon we need the new drivers from NVIDIA, DLSS usually gives huge performance gains.
Would love to see how much DLSS affects VR?
yeah, would've been nice if he'd covered that.
On my 2080ti and ryzen 7 3700x dlss hasnt made any difference for me in vr,in fact im getting stuttering with it on so just turned it off and il try again after some patches
@@robertmcmahon4549 I tried DLSS without VR on my 5800X/3080Ti, didn't make a blind bit of difference (and I wasn't being CPU limited). It just made the instrument displays look blurry. Sticking with TAA.
Latest studio drivers are already out. Not the GRD
517.40 Save yourself some time and effort: NO improvement in any parameter over 516.94.
Am I doing something wrong? 3080 i7-12700, 32GB DDR5 and still not going above 20FPS. My game doesn’t use more than 30% of my GPU and runs like trash. All other games run well
I believe DLSS is good for VFR flying, I tried it on the Fenix A320, and the instruments were really bad. Sharp instruments are a must for accurate flying. My settings were Quality on DLSS. My specs are 3080ti, 4k, ultra, 3900x cpu & 32GB of 3200Mhz rams.
my sim crashes to desktop even on the main menu now. Using an RTX 2070 SUPER gpu.
Sim Update 13... when did that happen :-D
that fps measurer from debug isnt accurate. I reccomend msi afterburner fps measurer
So we still have an 'experimental' option for 3 monitors. Why is it still called that? Surely it should be fixed permanently
Did you get crash to desktop fixed? I have a 2080 super myself and I’m considering getting MSFS 2020 for vr and xplane 12 now that it’s in EA, but they say it won’t be doing dlss anytime soon which is stupid…
My tests of msfs2020 near launch were pretty bad so I decided not to pull the trigger on it… but if they’re using dlss it might be better now. No man’s sky in vr was SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER with DLSS.
I’m not getting any performance improvement whatsoever with DLSS compared to TAA. Nothing. Just a more blurry glass cockpit font.
3080 Ti, 5800X, 4K at high/ultra detail.
Same for me. As demonstrated in my soaring video!
Dammit... I have the same 5800X CPU and a higher spec video card than this demo, and in the exact same spot I'm getting less FPS than ObsidianAnt. I actually get about 44 fps where he gets about 47.
Am I the only one who has massive stutters after updating to Win11 22H2? Tried the beta Nvidia geforce experience but didn't help. Game is unplayable
Sim Update 13 & TLAA ....HMMM
I run 2060 notebook .. and I run MSFS at FullHD at around 30fps on medium / high settings. DLSS improves it, but not much. Even at ultra performance I'm getting just about 40. On FullHD GPU is clearly not the bottleneck. With quality mode I get no FPS gain at all, and there is significant hit to image quality. On FullHD every pixel counts, especially on cockpit. Even best DLSS settings make cockpit way more blurry, and there are also typical DLSS artifacts on wings edges .. though that is nothing serious.
DLLS also has more motion blur, compared to MSFS's TAA. With low frame rate it makes the whole image a bit blurry. At the same time very pleasingly smooth moving. TAA still leaves some of the texture filtering instability, DLSS removes it better .. but it's also very small difference, not worth the issue with blurry cockpit.
So I guess I'm staying off DLSS in MSFS. I love it in Cyberpunk.. but that's clearly way more GPU bottlenecked, and I aim at 60fps, so minor 1 frame motion blur / ghosting is not as big of a problem like at 30 fps.
I don’t see any performance gains from DLSS.
I reckon we need the new drivers from NVIDIA, DLSS usually gives huge performance gains. Something isn’t right
0:00 sim update 13???
Direct X 12 performance is still absolutely abysmal for me, and MSFS continues to be the only title where that is the case. Direct X 11 with DLSS Balanced seems to be the sweet spot on my PC, I get about 20fps more compared to TAA. Image quality was not noticeable different either so DLSS was a great addition for my setup. Just hope Asobo can fix the DX12 performance.
If I remember correctly the DX12 performance improvements should be coming with the next Nvidia driver update
You said „Sim Update Thirteen“ ? 🤔
Yes, muuuuuch better!
I do hope the new Nvidia drivers will help out. I'm seeing the potential with a lowly RTX 2070 Super already.
The 2070 super is one of the few remaining sensible graphics cards. Watt usage and fidelity. Not lowly at all.
Manhatten has alot of trees.
cockpit view with dlss is bad. all the instruments are no sharp andbi have to zoom in to read it.
No improvement at all for myself. Ryzen 5950x, RTX 3090ti, 128gb DDR4, running MSFS off a M.2 - Ultra settings (maxed out) 40-50 fps on TAA & DLSS Quality. Curious thing is.. no matter what DLSS setting I use ( performance, balanced or quality) whilst the visual quality may be worse the fps stays around 40-50? Very odd. But then, I have a extremely basic understanding on how DLSS works in general.
What is TLAA ? Do you mean TAA ?
Yes. What a complete brain fart I had.
Yes. What a complete brain fart I had.
nVidia where are you ?
Waiting 2 years for dlss in FS2020 ....
and now the RTX3000 are obsoletes.
Only our $$$ and €€€ ...
Looks more like you switched from DX11 to DX12 too - even if your setting does show its all DX11.
DX 11 = very high CPU loads -> bottlenecking ANY GPU out there and this drops your fps hard -> DLSS should do not that much esp. not dropping CPU loads to that low values
DX 12 = lower CPU loads and higher GPU loads -> no bottleneck but you lose some fps by the load shift -> DLSS regains that fps or provide even better fps than before
It is not DLSS itself, it is the combination of DX12 and DLSS.
Well DX12 is broken for me then, when I tried it with DLSS at 4k my gpu utilization was only 7%, and the FPS was tanking hard as a result. Switching back to DX11 solved the issue for me.
@@acurisur what cpu and gpu?
Theres people also recommending turning hags back on...
SU13?
I've been told in VR DLSS makes everything slightly blurrier.
Even DLSS balanced setting is more than good enough for me in 4k.
One of the overlooked improvments is the reduction in lag by Xbox-live data transfer, before there was (especially on flights without a full flightplan) a data transfer at wheels up, down, and traversing of altitudes that caused a little white loading circle to appear on the right hand down corner, this is now much less.
to me, DLSS makes/breaks the difference between 50FPS and steady 60FPS without stutter at complete ultra settings 1440p. very worth it, even if they're "fake frames"
Rtx 2070 here. No difference at all. Still get stutters every now and again. No change in quality rendering. Photogrammetry is poor in places. Unimpressed!
Unfortunately I don’t have an rtx card
This game baffles me. On one hand i love sim games, but what i love about them is the expierencing of carrer mode of being a shop owner that builds pc's, to make money and upgrade levele up , purchase new property and so on, just like with any other sim. Wheres with MFS i was a bit disappointed after buying on release as after playing for 20 hours i felt like i have nothing more to do. Yes it looks nice, the controling of planes works great with my hotas, but that's about it, there is no point to do anything else. If it was used to train pilots i would get it, but it is not, it is a sim game, that feels like it is not aimed at gamers. How nice would it be to play as a pilot that need to get diferent licenses, starting small geting hired by difrent companies, needing to spend certai amount nount of hours in air to be able to train for biger more dificult planes, beter jobs and so on?
Looks like if I were rich everything would be Hunky Dory.
Well the unsharp looking cockpit displays makes DLSS a no-go for me. Those types of details are worst to upscale, so it should come as no surprise.
Don't you mean sim update 10?
Yes. Oops. 🤣
