I was a nomad in the 80s and raced my nova across the country for food and gas and this was the tarp setup I used when I found a wooded area. Haven't seen anybody do this setup in ages. Thanks for sharing this man. Brought back some good memories.
I'm a big Chevy fan add an El Camino with a Chevelle front end always wanted A nova I had Edelbrock RPM series camel hump heads roller rocker rocker arms Comp Cam MSD ignition, high-rise manifold, flowtech headers, Cactus Radiator Summit Racing gear rims a stall converter on my t 400 automatic transmission an electric fuel pump some other little things here and there lighter weight But Metal quarter panels Hood there was so much fun
I'm shocked how easy it actually is to build this. I was on the fence between buying a 2-person tent or a 4.5x3m tarp. I'm getting the tarp for sure now!
I used your instructions to make a tarp tent on a 3 nite hike and it worked flawlessly. The flaps can be carabinered together instead of staked back to keep the cold out too.
That's awesome! I am, however, concerned with the tip of the trekking pole directly on the tarp floor. Shouldn't there be a folded sock or something to keep the tip from contact and possible tarp damage?
@@NikosAnimals watch further into the video, he places the pointy end onto the floor of the tarp to extend floor space. A folded sock, or even a couple pieces of bark, would fix a possible hole in the tarp.
This is great. I like using my tarp, but did not know how to build a tent in this manner. Your instructions are spot-on. I keep hoping your sub's start adding up. Your video's are as good as other's with thousands of subscriptions. Take it easy. From Colorado, Roger.
Thanks, it's amazing what you can do with such a simple thing, I've got some other setups I will show on future vids! And although more subs would be nice, I'm not in it for the money, I'm in it for the love of the outdoors and as a kind of video diary 📹❤️ thankyou for your kind words. Regards WW
@@WilkoWild "And although more subs would be nice, I'm not in it for the money, I'm in it for the love of the outdoors". You are in it for the right reasons my friend. Be well.
Great video, thank you for sharing. Can you show some fully enclosed options aswell for when the weather is really bad or the insects are really bad please?
There are so many options with a tarp and this was the best I've seen. You also explained very clearly, what is good for me because I am thick haha. I'm probably going to try this today. 😊
Thanks so much for doing this video, its excellent. I bought a 4.5 x 3 meter tarp from DD a while ago and have not found a video like this one that does treking sticks for this size tarp. Cheers.
You could leave the bottom unpegged , put your pack/boots/etc. in front of the Pole and pull the tarp up over it for more protection in case of rain. Nice set up.
I like your design. Would it work to have two thirds of the length on top. One third, and the front inside corners, as ground sheet? Giving more space overall. While not extending out into the rain.
I enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing. For me, looks like quick and easy best option. I may try added hammock fly to cover front opening for sleeping. (I've subscribed)
Bloody ripped mate....well done....I live in the tropics in Northern Australia and am ambiguous as to the value of a tarp type set up because of the mosquito issue we have here.....but this was good nonetheless!
Thats a great Idea mate. Seen loads TARP TENT with the 3x3 but never with the bigger one. I suspect you've just forced me to buy a bigger tarp. Thanks for the upload. Subbed! Greetings from Ibiza.
Ah man what have you done I've ordered another tarp!!! Love the groundsheet though gotta be done sometimes. The Mrs will be much happier now 😄 👍 great video 👊
Nice vid.. I'd like to see if this setup could be adjusted in some way could be altered, so the side flaps ( where you came into second tie out)...could be drawn together when wanted to form some kind of door covering...just carabineer clip them. I'm using the DD M Tarp so bit smaller
Hiya, it never puts a hole in the tarp, these tarps are very strong. My pole doesn't have a spikey end it's like a rubber foot on it which helps. Cheers
Only modification I'd make is to move the starting points back a bit either to the next holes or use clips to go about halfway, this then pulls back excess ground sheet while creating more space and more material to close it up further. But you may be left with 50% floor, which is almost as good as no floor

Never seen a tarp tent set up with a rectangular tarp. Darned nice!

Good video well explained, I could listen to this guy speak all day , to me he has a similar voice to John Lennon when he spoke.
Best explanations on how to set a tarptent on RUclips , great ! Thanks !
Thanks buddy, glad to help! Kind regards Ben
Merry christmas ⛄🎄⛄🎄🏔️🛷🧤😊😊😊mark
Nicely done. 👍❤️😇
Love a tarp tent with a floor. Nice one!
Thank you for going into details and showing where to stake it down

A tennis ball would sort that out....
Good job
Good point!! 👍

Best tarp shelter i've looked at

Love this. Thanks for sharing. And your dog is dem cute. Thanks for including him.
Nice 😀! Not gonna lie, this is way better than the Army ground sheet/ hooch shelter method I was taught elsewhere. No need for 2 trees! 😀.
Thats wonderful 👍🏼 I cant believe how simple set up this is yet I couldn't see it 😫 Thanks.
Nice demo and a good configuration brother! Thanks for sharing! Definitely a thumbs up!
Very nice, going to try this one. Just have to recheck vids on knots😁

Nice job there! Thank you, I'm always looking for new ways to set up my tarp✌️

Perfect! Great tutorial! Subscribed!
Great setup!! I’m trying that as soon as the snow melts!!
Great setup. Just one question... does the base of the trecking pole not puncture the tarp?
Ah man what have you done I've ordered another tarp!!! Love the groundsheet though gotta be done sometimes. The Mrs will be much happier now 😄 👍 great video 👊
Really soooo Cool 👍👍👍
Thnx❤
Pretty nice. Will an 8' x 10' tarp work as well?
I have two 10'x10' tarps but have a couple 8x10's and a 10'x12' as well.
Nice im going to try this this afternoon
Awsome! Thanks :) Greetings from Poland!
Super good video! I feel like I can do this. Headed to buy a tarp!! Thanks for sharing.

Yes I've had a play around and can get it near enough closed whilst keeping everything else taught 👍 kind regards Ben
@@WilkoWild I've done the pyramid, where you get a large loose flap...so I imagine a hybrid between the two will get there. Cheers. Subbed
I would think so buddy there's always a way! 💪😂
how you cover the door when the rains coming brother?
Awesome setup.
Nice video.
Nice “PUP” tent .
Good job my boy
A tennis ball with a slit in it for the end of the centre pole, to avoid breaking the canvas maybe ?
Thats very impressive
Hello brother, I from Indonesia I like your vidios🔥💯
Does your pole have some sort of rubber tip? Mine are sharp and would pierce the ground sheet.
Well done. Thanks!
No problem, always good to share the knowledge 💪🏕️ regards Ben
🇫🇷👍Vraiment TRÈS Génial cette configuration
Cela nécessite beaucoup de sardines apparemment
Mais à la fin c'est nickel comme abris !!! 👍👍😍😉🙂😃😃👍👍
Nice one bro!
Great video, just what I needed to see thanks for that will help me on my next bike trip
the best presentation
It's beautiful
Very good info thanks!

Nice 1 mate will try that out .... perfect - just subbed

Excellent buddy
Muy bien ese refugio, saludos desde México.
anyway to make this more insect proof?
Wonder if I can squish one of those and a hammock into a rocket pouch...
Good... vidio brother...
Outstanding!
I have a 5x5 tarp, a huge one. I wonder if it's works the same. Thanks
Nice job thank you
No problem, hope it comes in handy for you, regards WW
Good show thanks
which tarp size do you like best?
We did this Saturday night but with a 3mx2.6m tarp
Very nice
There is a way to use a tarp and fully enclose the tarp. Three sides.
Who ever reading this I pray you are happy and get extremely successful in life...
Enjoyed the video. Just one question, what did you do about the hole your walking pole made in your tarp/groundsheet ?
Hiya, it never puts a hole in the tarp, these tarps are very strong. My pole doesn't have a spikey end it's like a rubber foot on it which helps. Cheers
Sorry fella. Didn't notice the foot on your pole. Great video though.
where can i find this canvas
Genious ❤
Love it!
Very good info thanks!
What size is a 4.5 x3 tarp
In metres buddy 👍
About 10’ x 15’.
Ummmm 4.5 x 3....??????????????
I'd try this when I get my tarp, noob question. How's the condensation on this?
Yes, good point, I too would like to know if there are any condensation issues with tarp set ups.
@@gordonmonaghan133 I use my tarp in this exact configuration, not condensation since the opening allows for plenty of ventilation
Thanks bro
nice great 👌
I love this set up but I paid way to much money for my tarp to use it as a ground sheet.

Thx for you
Keep it taught
