2 tips for you, tip #1 no need for a "left handed hammer" lower the car and put your left hand through the window, into the door, then use your right hand to Hammer. Tip #2 they make "offset snips" you'd be able to cut more metal at a time and make better radiuses. I'm a heating and cooling guy, the best snips I've found are made by Midwest tools. Great work BTW. I love this build.
Thanks for the tip on the snips Jamie! I'm going to look into them. The brand I'm using and have been using for years seem to travel less and less in terms of cutting distance. Also, I appreciate your support.
Looks great, this is such a major project thanks for taking the extra time to set up cameras and edit I am not a big fan of those cars but that's not why I am here - its for the modifying and custom metal work
About the left handed hammer thing, you could have the full depression of the door handle plate and cut it oval, then cut an oval out of the 51's door, with a little contour messaging it would have a simple fit and weld. I must confess though that I am not a metal worker, just a retired old military electronics tech.
Nick, I have 26 left-handed hammers. Just ask. Sorry, but scissors are all RH. While door handles have a design function, the eyecrometer can see them as pleasing or unnecessary. In a one man repair shop 12 years ago, just across the Iowa boarder, the shop owner had business issues I was trying to help him with, when he took me around into his paint booth and the "Riddler" contender sit in front of me. I have no clue what is was other than a mix of 38 Ford front on a Chevy business coupe, but it had shaved door handles. Many comment on this, but incorporating in the design is way harder than just leaving them off. Congratulations on your choice. And on even newer vehicles, I think they have eliminated the rod or cable connection completely. Like seeing the unreleased 2004 Corvette in 2022. The "RFID" chip unlocked the door and opened it about 7.5Cm to gain access. (Working For ACDelco at the time) but if it had a dead battery, you popped a painted cover next the rear tag, inserted key, opened trunk to pull handle to open drivers door, then popped the hood to service the battery. All very simple. Until the gas station problem. Yes, if you didn't know, pumps have many safety pipe issues below the base as we as the hose because people still drive off with hose inserted. But, the pump operates on a low frequency signal to the fuel console with no wires underground. The radio frequency at 4.25hz to 4.95hz would confuse the Corvette and not let it open or start. The frequency was changed to a 255 binary rolling code, and problem fixed. Just points at your next game of trivia. Assuming you can drive their. I enjoyed this episode of the LH hammer w/Nick. I use the "Black Bell" so I get notices. I haven't watch much as I am getting things in order as 4/3/23 I start 5 evenings of Ketamine so I can possible walk. Sometimes it sucks being 6'3" tall. Best of luck, stay safe. DK
With regular use, you might end up with nail scratches in the paint above and below the handle where you eliminated the upper and lower recessed areas. I do like the look without the additional recessed areas, just not sure about the functionality. Perhaps I am just not seeing things on the video as clearly as you are there in person.
Hi Chuck, There is a small recess left to get the fingers into without scratching the paint. And if someone does, then they get to learn all about polishing clear lol! We'll get a better look see later. Thanks for watching!
Cool! A number of years back I built a pneumatic planishing hammer by modifying a palm nailer to make it easier on the arm when we did a compete roof section for a custom '40 Ford ForDor Sedan Delivery(before we started the RUclips Channel). Here's a link to it being used on another project to correct some stretch ruclips.net/video/qjE_bb70ZBY/видео.html Wasn't quite right to massage the '51's handle opening. Thanks for watching 👍
You know I'm a "no" handle guy ... but that might look ok with the trim ... again I'll reserve judgement till I see it ... remember the rate goes up when the customer watches ... speaking of the '40 project I'm still waiting for my ride ... nice work as usual ...
I love your videos. The work the humor. I do have one bit of constructive criticism/ question, why don’t you show the entire finished product of your builds? Is it that they just aren’t finished yet or do customers not want you to? I’ve only seen one and it was because you redid the interior. It’s like seeing a movie but never seeing the ending.
Thanks for the kind words Ira. Actually, I will have more videos coming out for the custom '40 Ford Coupe(including the shakedown drives) and Afterburner builds. Just that all my free time(evenings, nights & weekends) has been devoted to building this '51 and editing all the footage. There have been more all nighters than I care to count. Wanna get this project completed for this summer. I appreciate your patience and thanks for watching. 👍
That's sad. There is nothing Better then an old fashioned chrome door handle with a push button opener, It just feel's nice to hold on to, to open the door.
As a mechanic or a body fabricator one has to be ambidextrous to a certain degree, I reckon that at my peak I was about fifty percent left handed, but since retiring I find that I am losing that ability.
@warren cahill no need to buy. We've built our own flush fit style as well as handles that matched body side trim profiles in the past so that they vanished. In this case I need to computer to be happy. Thanks for watching 👍
Love your sense of humor.... 16.5 degrees.. left handed hammer. 😂😂😂you crack me up man 👍👍
Hey, thanks!!
I look forward to every episode. Very nice work, hard to find craftsmanship like that on newer vehicles.
Thanks 👍 Much more to come!

You could also get a right hand drive vehicle 😅 (just kidding!)
@@iNVisionPrototypes Nick Happy Easter 🐣 Sunday afternoon to you and your whole family ❤️ 👪❤ 👪 😀 ❤ bye 👋 from #YSW ❤️ ❤❤😊

The scope of work kinda drifted but we're having a lot of fun. Glad you're enjoying the build too 👍
Greetings from Sweden.
Thanks for another informative video. You are doing great.
I'm sure that car will look fantastic when finished.
Got my fingers crossed lol! Thanks for watching Billy! 👍
Nice!!! May need to save that info for a future build.
Thanks!! 👍
Excellent work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great work and video again Nick. As talented as you are it's good to see you finally struggle at SOMETHING!
Hey Riven! Thanks for watching 👍
Definitely enjoyed this one 👍👍😎👍👍 (Thanks Nick for covering up that channel at the end with tape. It was so distracting 😂)
It really was distracting... wasn't it. LOL! Thanks for the thumbZ up! 👍👍
Great unintended demo of the use of rt/lf Aviation metal snips
👍

Yup, that's another way one can do an install of a donor handle. Thanks for watching Dennis!

I like the handles, can't stand when people shave them. This is going to be awesome.
Thanks man!!

A fabricator in the UK uses a palm nailer with tip for the left handed work. 8^)
Yes I didn't think of that. Harbor freight here has a neumatic palm nailer for $30. It works well banging duct together.

@@iNVisionPrototypes In that video it looked like the tool worked perfectly.

Enjoyed your video thanx.

Here's a guy you can actually learn from
16.5 degrees? Who knew?
Could be 18.5* LOL!! Thanks for watching Chris 👍

Don't cry Joe! I agree, but this ol girl never came with any handles and we needed to make the computer happy. lol! Thanks for watching
🤔 Hmmm. You should have gotten on the roof and attacked it from the top. hahaha
LOL!! That might have worked, next time! :D Thanks for watching Dale
Maybe take the door off, and turn it upside down? The wings are a good idea.
I would if I could. Will tackle door removal in a later episode... for now they're staying put :( Thanks for watching!
you cant get a left handed hammer. but you can get a left handed pen that's is very true
Hi Kenneth, Yup it is, I have seen a guy using a left handed pen! It helps prevent that dreaded smudge! 👍 Thanks for watching
As a mechanic or a body fabricator one has to be ambidextrous to a certain degree, I reckon that at my peak I was about fifty percent left handed, but since retiring I find that I am losing that ability.
wouldnt kindigit design handles have been easier to install and look .a lot cleaner on the door
He needs to connect the switches in the Infiniti handles to lock/unlock the doors.
