- Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were together again for another championship celebration, this time to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Chicago Bulls' first title.
The Hall of Famers along with some teammates and coaches were on hand for a halftime ceremony during Saturday's game against the Utah Jazz, reliving their past glory.
There was Jordan dunking over Patrick Ewing again. Pippen was wreaking havoc on both ends, John Paxson was nailing jumpers, the Pistons were hurrying off the court and the Bulls were hoisting the trophy, drenched in champagne after knocking off the Lakers.
It was all there during a video set to Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly" that kicked off the festivities.
Former Bulls broadcaster Jim Durham served as the master of ceremonies, and there were loud cheers as each player was introduced, starting with Dennis Hopson. Horace Grant and John Paxson each received a nice ovation, and fans just about came unglued when Pippen was introduced.
And when Jordan was called? Well, the roar was what anyone would expect.
In his address to the crowd, Pippen thanked the organization for bringing "back a memory that we all want to live again just one more time."
"This is very special for us," he said.
Jordan, grinning ear-to-ear, thanked the Bulls for "allowing us to reunite" and added, "You guys are in store for a lot of other championships."
The current team with Derrick Rose leading the way is stirring memories of a championship era that kicked into gear 20 years ago. The 1990-91 team went 61-21 and finally beat Detroit after losing to the Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals the previous two years, then took out Magic Johnson's Los Angeles Lakers in five games to start the first of Chicago's two three-peats.
"I was just talking to Paxson," Jordan said after the ceremony. "I said, 'You guys could be the best team in the East if you play the type of basketball you guys have been playing. I don't think it's going to take them seven years."
That's how long it took for Jordan, who endorsed Rose for league MVP.
"That kid has come into his own," Jordan said. "He's matured quite a bit. When he came into the league, everybody said he had speed and can get to the rim, but he can't shoot. Now, he can shoot the 3 as well as pull-up shots. He has very few flaws. I'm pretty sure the next thing they're going to say is he doesn't play good defense or can't handle the double team. Time will tell.
"I think he's a great piece for this franchise to rebuild with. They've got some other pieces that helped them quite a bit. Everybody's talking about Boston, everybody's talking about Miami and Orlando, you tend to forget about Chicago."
Several key members of the first championship team were absent on Saturday, most notably Phil Jackson and Jerry Krause. In a taped message, Jackson said the clinching win was "truly an exciting moment for all of us" and was "just the start of something big." - Спорт
I went to this game just for the 20th anniversary, to see the old bulls team and the Greatest player of all Time Michael Jordan. When MJ was about to do his speech right after Pippen place got so loud, everybody showing love to MJ. I even had tears in my eyes seeing my idol in person for the first time. Definitely emotional night for a lot of people.
After all these years MJ still gets the MVP MVP chant
the greatest player ever in basketball history, michael jordan the legend
I am from India but I got goosebumps when I watched this. Mj was truly a world superstar and Chicago was awesome to have him. His drive for greatness along with pippin was memorable.
jordan is the GOAT.
I was there baby!!! SEC 106 Row E Seat 8!!!
MEMORABLE 4 LIFE!!!!
This half time show was marvelous. But there are no words to describe how I felt watching all those playoff games on TV in 1991.
What a moment & all tears & memories float in front!
What a reality we have as the forever 90s' bulls fans...
Was at this game. The crowd was insane! It was an incredible experience to be there during the ceremony.
This is my favorite of all six titles. Bulls Forever Baby!
It sucks BJ Armstrong wasnt able to attend, he was awesome.
As soon as Pippen was introduced I got a bit emotional lol, and that ovation they had for Jordan was unreal, felt like a movie how the emotions were so easily triggered.
I was there... Couldn't hear a thing. Goosebumps and yes, I cried.... Way too many great memories...
i was at this game ! i stuck around and got to keep that 20 yr anniversary sticker thats on the court. how cool is that !!!
what a coincidence that the bulls were playing the jazz that night
Great video! I get emotional every time they announce michael Jordan and crowd goes wild! "From North Carolina!!!! Number 23!!!! Michael Jordan!!!!!"-Epic!!:)
Watched this was just a constant smile on my face. Jordan still loves this franchise and im glad I get to see pippen at the games all the time.
Damn, this relived moment feels too good. Brings tears to my eyes, after realizing how epic the sweep of the Pistons was. From boys to men. LET'S GO BULLS!!!

I'm so choked up right now I can't speak

Scottie Pippen looks like he could lace em up on the spot.
I couldn't tell but derrick had to have a tear comin down I mean he was 3 years old wen chitown won it's first title and I was just born
Thank you for posting this, love reliving those glory days. It appears that the glory days have returned with D-Rose leading the way. MJ and Scottie greatest duo ever in my opinion, would love to see them tear up this current generation.
@TheeVulture I'm from Chicago and I can assure you, the Bulls are guaranteed to win every time they make the Finals, it's our TRADITION.
wow this great to see the boys all back together , and i think jordan was spot on this bull team can win it all and more
great post bruce, for a great team, with legendary acomplishments.
thanks so much for this. we missed the game saturday night. my dad calls the jordan era the glory days loll, but we've got the glory days coming up soon i feel it with D Rose.
The 90s bulls (any one of the championship year teams) would absolutely DECIMATE any team in this era. HANDS DOWN! Kobe couldn't hold MJ's stock strap by the way...
i was there. 5:52 subtle "DETROIT SUCKS!"
it was loud at the UC. lol
Bruce, thank you so much for uploading this! It brought back so many memories!
the best team ever assembled. the Blazers of that era came close but we all saw what happened to them.
Chicago needs to be real proud
Now this was a team!
thanks SO much for this.
legends back together. great to see.
greatest team ever period!!!!!!!!!!
Rip Johnny, and thanks for the vid Bruce, that was touchin. It's a bit sad to see those great sportsmen getting old, but on the other hand, it's just a new page in the book.
I'm sure Derrick Rose though even though he is in charge of Jordan's franchise, wants to establish his own legacy with the Bulls. I'm glad that the Bulls are taking care of him very much like they did with Jordan. Rose is a great player, you have to just build around him like they did with Jordan with Pippen, Grant, Cartwright, etc in 1991 and the pieces will just fall into place. Jordan also defeated Isiah and Magic at the sunset and the end of their careers also during that season of 90-91.
Thank you for the upload. I'm happy I got to watch this. It was a short ceremony but well done
The irony of the Bulls playing against the Jazz. (The team that the Bulls beat for their last 2 titles.
GREATEST OF ALL TIME
@semolinapilchardd wow, 20 yrs. already. gone too fast. i remembered everything. those were great eras w/ great stars.
MVP! MVP! MVP!
that 1991 Bulls team, might of been the best Bulls team ever. Even better than the 72-10, team. They were that good.
Just awesome, what memories.
How ironic would it be for Phil Jackson to win hist last championship with the Lakers in 2011 and winning his first against the Lakers in 1991? Crazy! I don't care what anyone says, that would be an amazing story.
John Paxson should have his number retired. The 1991 team was great. This is a fitting tribute. Thanks for the upload.
@theAIRJORDANblitz thank you for posting this video man ! very nice upload !!!
@GunGemini This team made other teams in the league better. The mid 90's Sonics, Blazers, The Suns after aquiring Ainge & Barkley, Starks & The Knicks, Miller & The Pacers, ... even Mullin & The Warriors were great on a given night.
This team made Bulls fans out opf people who didn't watch basketball. Heck - my MOM new the starting lineup of the Blazers in 1992. :) GO BULLS!
Thanks alot for uploading!!!
i've been searching this video. thank airjordan blitz... just got the old times... bulls forever

@FreshTiDef mee toooooooooooooo lollllllll
lechoke and dwayne dislike this!!!
i bet 2 dislikes was from pistons fan. lol
@semolinapilchardd i did too....!
@TSGS21 It sure would.
@semolinapilchardd what Bulls fan didn't?
@DOw0rkk
yeah..ha ha :D
I don't hate Jim Durham, but that's a bold statement that they NOT ONLY SHOW UP TO THE FINALS, BUT WIN IT. At some point the, Bulls will LOSE a Finals in the future. There is no shame in losing a Finals. The Yankees in baseball have been to the World Series 40 times and have won the title 27 times. There is no shame in losing. They are on pace that even if they lose a few, they still have a good win-loss ratio in the Finals for awhile. They will lose at some point. I'm just saying.
@semolinapilchardd no shame in that.
Lebron choose DISLIKE
Thanks for the upload. This was great. I just wish they had Ray Clay as the MC, that would've really felt like the '91 Bulls.
Bulls/Jordan fans, make sure to support me over at "theblitzchannel" here on RUclips. Thanks!
it is nice that MJ didn't forgot Johnny Red Kerr. RIP

The Bulls dynasty begun in 1991...
One of the Greatest teams ever!
North Carolina! We breed basketball greatness!!!
@VinmanMJ23 why would you feel sorry for Pippen, the guy was number 2 to the greatest in the game. NO-ONE is as good as Mike, yet Pippen was the next best player on those super teams and is enjoying all these accolades and fame becuz of it. I can assure you Pippen does not feel at all ashamed of being second banana to the great one. When Jordan returned in 1995, Pippen was so freakin happy cuz he knew they wouldn't win without MJ. I'm glad for Pippen, he gets mentioned many times next to Mike
Goosebumps aaall the fucking way.... sweet Jesus... The Legends Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen...the golden era of the NBA in general...
I never ever was more excited watching a sports team, than when I was watching the 90's Bulls. MJ simply the greatest, and Pip right there next to him...
All the way baby...all the way... (still got goosebumps while typing all this...)
Phil, MJ and Pip....the greatest trio of the 90's.
i actually cried watching this
One of the greatest duo's of all time!
Miami, go home, man!!!! Miami, LeBron, Dwyane Wade, go home!!!!
man who knew that phil would coach the team that he beat for his first championship ring.
Would have loved to see them lace em up one more time! GOD I miss that year! 1991 Championship will always be special.
This sent chills up my spine
the best Bulls team ever...
thanks for posting this! It would have been nice to have Ray Clay announce perhaps the starting lineups.
@TAJY26 They did pretty well against the Knicks in '94. They were still good - but yeah, no MJ - no ring. Although Michael really benefited from Pippen. He may have won a lot of the individual accolades without him - but the championships were team efforts.
Think how freakin' lucky - not only to have an MJ come through, but at the same time a kid from Arkansas who could mimic and learn and be at the same level AND play together. You just can't architect this kind of team. Truly special.
@bobbyward24 Damn right we do! MJ, Worthy, Stackhouse, CP3, John Wall, David Thompson, etc. etc.
