One of their funniest episodes ever. I love how they got the joke across without ever actually saying what it looked like. The writers nailed this one.
Yep. We had some wallpaper in the bedroom, and we never really noticed an image it had until my niece pointed it out to us, and after that, it was all we saw. The image was a devil, not flowers anymore.
The first time I saw this episode I REALLY liked the sculpture, it wasn’t until Raymond said “Lady Parts” that I could then see it with my own eyes, I was watching the show with my mom and dad and I don’t think any of us saw it at first (wasn’t awkward as I was like late 30’s when watching it with my parents) but after Raymond said “Lady Parts” we all died laughing. It was one of the best episodes of the show.
When I first looked at it I only saw a pair of legs up to the knee, from the ankle with the knees close together and the plaster in the join between the legs When he said lady parts I could then see what he ment , but I had to look closely to see it , glad it's not just me that did not know what it was supposed to be the first time I saw the statue
@@sandiego2380 this is getting wired now It's becoming like one of those ink blot tests were everyone looks at inky blobs and will see different things It seems that we are still innocent enough not to have seen the " lady parts " until Ray said that's what he thinks it is
I have just shown this video to my sister, who thought it was the tail of a dolphin/whale and did not believe me when I said it was supposed to be "lady parts"
This has to be one of the funniest episodes laughed so hard , especially when the nuns came to pick the sculpture up and Marie looked again at it and said oh my l’m a lesbian. A true classic.
I watched this scene with an ex boyfriend and we hugged each other and howled laughing in my kitchen. The relationship didn’t work out but it’s a nice memory.
I think that it would have been funnier if they would have turned the statue around and revealed that they were looking at the back of an angel's wings.
LOL that is pretty funny. I always thought that this was a piece that Marie would have never come up with TBH, but I was able to suspend reality for the sake of the episode's premise. But you offer a perfectly viable solution to it with a bit of a script rewrite.
I still cannot unsee it.. all these years later...!!! *_Not abstract enough...._* But it is when the realization hits Robert like a mac truck!! Brad Garett to me still has the best facial expressions.
Ray whispered to bob and bob was like what? And then he turned around and looked at it more closely and his eyes went big like saying ohhhh I see 😂😂😂😂 1:38
Director: We need a vaguely disturbing sculpture for this episode. How far can we go with it? Standards & Practices: Not as far as you want to take it!
I remember watching this episode on a plane ride back from London Gatwick to SF on American. I remember these British passengers laughed so hard when Frank was like “holy crap!”
@@cityhawk Yes, THAT is the biggest question. Do some research online and I'll do the same. Reconvene in one week with our findings. There's a lot of classic stuff out there... memorabilia as it were, that has been lost in time. I always thought it would be awesome to own the Wicked Witch of the West's crystal ball (from The Wizard of Oz). But many such props from those early eras were simply repurposed for other movies or thrown out altogether. I would be this one has a home though.
On the dvd audio commentary, the head writer insists that it was inspired by an actual sculpture in front of the New Rochelle City Hall, where he grew up. The other writers didn't believe him, so he texted his mother,"Ma, please go take a picture of the v******a statue and send it to me?." 😊 It's still there.
Donate it to an art studio. She feels appreciated, those that enjoy abstract art that isn’t quite abstract enough can enjoy seeing it, and the rest of the family can live in peace.
The costume designers always made sure Debra's clothes were colour coded and the general costume and set design was so well done... American sitcoms USED to be so good 20 years ago. How did American entertainment fall so much in just 20 years?
Much like an ink blot, abstract art is what you make of it, beauty in the beholder. It can be... anything you want lol and I think Robert was really regretting listening to Ray's whisper. 😅
The look on Robert's face after Raymond tells him what it is completely priceless. 😂
I know 😅😅
It be funnier if his dad said he likes it more after being told this.

Doris Roberts kept this sculpture
That’s amazing. I didn’t know that.
