    *By functional I mean you can comfortably swing or carry it **bestgym.equipment** around as one would expect of a kettlebell weight. By versatile I mean the protective coating does not prevent attaching magnetic micro-plates to increase the weight, so, for example, a 35 pound kettlebell can be increased by up to 5 pounds in weight or possibly a bit more by attaching magnetic micro-plates.*

    This is a really good video, the guy doing the workout is doing the moves with great form and is a normal guy. Not some juiced up model to give the video some glammer. Nice job!

    Anyone who's been around the block should know that the heavy kettlebell is the boogeyman of the fitness world in terms of how scarily effective it is.

    I love the comment about never sacrificing technique/form for more reps or weight. That needs to be repeated everywhere because sacrificing technique is the fastest way to some nasty injuries.

    Why are you rolling your shoulders in on the double kettlebell swings? Shouldn’t you be doing the opposite?

      I read in a book that beginner should use 8 or 12 kg kettlebells. most say 16 for men but I think this is too much I am a beginner too and I feel like 16 kg is too heavy for some movements like the military press

  • @kingfab1875
    @kingfab1875 7 лет назад +6

    Correct me if I'm wrong, you can do pretty much all of these exercises with dumbbells & barbells...

    • @davidbabinec
      @davidbabinec 7 лет назад +7

      Not exactly, as effect wont be the same. And I would definitely not try to swing with dumbbells. Even presses are not really same with kettlebells. When I press kettlebells I feel more muscles involved than with dumbbells. I am not a pro, but I am sure you'll know the differences after one training session with KBs.

    • @ussfreedom4422
      @ussfreedom4422 6 лет назад +1

      Agreed - you'll find that you utilize more of your less "activated" core muscles than you would doing these movements in a barbell or dumbbell workout. i.e. serratus anterior/exterior, more iliopsoas involvement, etc. It also engages the deeper fascia in your inner thighs (gracilis, sartorius) that barbell and dumbbell movements don't always do for you. They are great - hope you enjoy doing them! @xavier

      I do swings with dumbbells. Why wouldn't you try it?

      All of you are right. Kettlebells are way different. I have 2 / 20 pound kettlebells and the movements are alot more challenging. I do figure eight uppercuts, rotational swings to a press and its all about balance and core strength. Combine a weight workout with a just one day a kettlebell exercises and its all you'll need. Next im going for 2/ 30 pound kettlebells.

      You can... you can also run a marathon in loafers, or bungee jump with the bands your postman wraps your mail in...
      Some of these movements are ballistic (swing/clean) and for those movements in this situation the kettlebell is the right tool for this job... by all means use what you have. but its really a case of using the right tool for the job in hand... in this case its kettlebells.

    I am knew to kettlebells but I think I have an idea of the body mechanism to do alot of these. I appreciate the videos people are putting out. I do have two questions.
    1. On the clean and press there is a pause, on this pause I see everyone resting the weight across the chest all while leaning back. My question on this one is, wont the repetitive leaning back cause low back problems?
    2. The hip driving on the swings. Looks to me that it almost almost traumatic to hip an knees the eay they are being locked out so hard.
    If you have time I would like to get your feelings on my questions.
    Thanks again for your commitment to helping the fitness community.
    Kristoffer

      Here are my thoughts if theres no reply:
      1. The point is to keep the core tight and ready to initiate the KB forward motion for next rep
      2. Do it as if you would jump i.e. nothing traumatic about extending as much as comfortable when the KB is weightless

    Untrained Americans should produce videos without knowing the foundation of how to properly lift them. For the proper way to lift kettlebells, find the videos produced by Valery Federenko. He shows you the difference and "proper way" to lift and hold the bell. Denis Kangyin, Ivan Denisov, Anton Asanenko, and Kimberly Fox all have videos on youtube and all are champion lifters who have different but correct lifting form and technique. Cheers!
