When I was a kid our family was unfortunate and poor. One day my dad came home with a NES and a copy of this game. I couldn't believe it. We were all so happy... Now that I think about it he sacrificed everything just to see us smile. I would do anything to see him again and thank everything for what he has done.

This is so enjoyable to watch. Not an intimidating godlike run-through, just a human playthrough, with human errors along the way, making us feel closer to the gameplay and remember decades ago when we were going through the same levels, all the joys of winning and frustrations of getting stuck. I completed the game with a very similar approach to this video. Even now I still use ZNESW to play this game once in a while.

It's crazy that you mentioned Zelda OOT. Super Mario Bros 3 is my all time favorite video game and Zelda OOT was one of my close friends favorite. He passed away last year unfortunately. We used to argue about which game was the best between these two.
Yeah. And one good thing about SM3 which SM1 didn't have was if you had the fire power (and in SM3 the flying tail also) and were hit, you reduce to big Mario without the fire powee or flying tail, and only reduce to small Mario if you're hit again. But in SM1, even with the fire power, you immediately reduce from that to small Mario from one hit, no going through big Mario without the fire power first.
You obviously grew up in the 90’s and played this a lot cause you have ridiculous talent! I don’t know how you go so fast but also avoid the temptation to hit every question mark? You have a great memory too. I wish I had even 1/2 of your skill. It was a joy to see you take us through one of the greatest classical video games of all time. Thank you
I wanted to cry when me and my mom beat it when I was a kid. Couldn't get her to play any other games after this console but I cherish those Mario playthroughs nonetheless. Came to see if they used the same strategy we did hahaha. Nowadays she's into playing poker and does pretty damn good for herself at it.
Omg! For years, I tried to beat this game, never did though! Sure had a blast trying! Good memories! I can't believe who ever was playing this, didn't die, not even once! Lol, not hating, I was impressed.
I think the first one was much harder, because you couldn't go backwards, and if you got hit, even while Fire Mario, you went down to regular Mario. Plus, Mario 3 allowed you continues and the ability to store items.
The thing I love about Mario games is that anyone can pick it up and play. They are fairly simple games, but they are still a challenge to real gamers in those later levels

I remember we had this on the wii. Me and my bro would take turns playing whenever we died. One time my uncle came over and saw us playing, and then proceeded to show us shortcuts and hidden secrets. It was so cool
I played this game for months and beat it several times before I realized the tanooki suit had "statue mode". My little brother and I were so stoked, such good memories tied to this game. Definitely my favorite to this day, certainly the most challenging!
My parents had me jumping down the hole the very first time I beat Koopa. They said the door was a trap and not to go through there. You can imagine my reaction after that lol.
Obra maestra.

In my opinion, still the best Mario game made to this date. When I think of the colorful world of Mario, I feel like it all began with this entry. This will be my favorite game for time to come. I can only hope that future generations alike can experience the same joy I did when I was a young boy. 🥹
Fun fact: Before snes came out in 1990, there was no record button. If you lose or turn it off and on to play at another time, everything starts over from scratch. I can't imagine what it was like to lose or start over while playing in those days.

This is very impressive for the 1980s! The decade that the biggest hit song was by Olivia Newton-John, who passed away last year at 73. She will live forever with music from the decade before, not just the decade of. I also notice this is similar to the New Super Mario Bros. series.
Some people will never understand the simplicity yet the complete brilliance of our imaginations that took us to these places when we were playing on our box TV sets, sitting on the floor, a bowl of a chip and some candies within reach. I cherish those days. I'm glad I got to see some of these levels again. The pyramid level where it's black with white dots is embedded in my memory for some reason. I was always was so happy to think of the images throughout my childhood.
This game, along with Air Fortress, Mega Man and The Money Game were the games that were supposed to be on the Disk System, but ended up being released in cartridge form. A planned save state feature was planned when the game began development on the Disk System, but it was scrapped when it was converted to cartridge, and the save state feature was later utilized in Super Mario World.
This game is surprisingly difficult. Kudos to people playing this back in the day without walkthroughs. It took me 10 tries to figure out that the ghosts don't attack you if you turn towards them. 😂 And now I've learned you can pick up shells. 🤯 How are you supposed to know these things without a tutorial or instructions lol
You can google the quite fun manual. Tells not all the rules by a long shot, but still enough. The thing with the ghosts is explained in the first letter from the princess.
I had a magazine by Nintendo back in the day that had a lot of the secrets. What a game man!! They really really improved every single aspect of this game & I thought the 1st one was perfection but they somehow came back & killed it with this.
After many years since the 90s, I finally got the time to finish this with a lot of help from the rewind button, LOL. I'm 42 now and I will pass on this game to my 2-yr old kid when she grows up. 👍 11-5-23

@@s.marshian8455 Yeah, that is good. And another thing where I like about SM3 verses SM1, see my above reply
The nostalgia level, it's over 9000!!!!

Thank you
Bro just play it alot and you can have the same skills lol
The game is from the late 80s. 1989.

Man... ♡♡♡♡ I miss being a kid and spending my afternoon playing this game.
I hear you. I miss my childhood.
God I miss the 90s. Nostalgia is killing me right now.
80s.

Mario 3 is one of the hardest games in the franchise & greatest games in history
I think the first one was much harder, because you couldn't go backwards, and if you got hit, even while Fire Mario, you went down to regular Mario. Plus, Mario 3 allowed you continues and the ability to store items.
I would have to agree...I still don't think I passed it all the way..
Zelda was another...
Hella hard game to beat Mario world was easier to beat than Mario 3
@ I totally agree
The thing I love about Mario games is that anyone can pick it up and play. They are fairly simple games, but they are still a challenge to real gamers in those later levels
Sin lugar a dudas el mejor juego de Nintendo, y uno de los mejores juegos de la historia, y todo eso con tan sólo 8 bits.

I played this game for months and beat it several times before I realized the tanooki suit had "statue mode". My little brother and I were so stoked, such good memories tied to this game. Definitely my favorite to this day, certainly the most challenging!

They said the door was a trap and not to go through there.
You can imagine my reaction after that lol.

The dancing bushes lol...when I saw that as a kid lol creative
In my opinion, still the best Mario game made to this date. When I think of the colorful world of Mario, I feel like it all began with this entry.
This will be my favorite game for time to come. I can only hope that future generations alike can experience the same joy I did when I was a young boy. 🥹
Fun fact: Before snes came out in 1990, there was no record button. If you lose or turn it off and on to play at another time, everything starts over from scratch. I can't imagine what it was like to lose or start over while playing in those days.

Thank you Japan for all the childhood memories!
One of the hardest games I've ever had the pleasure of playing, good times 🍷🗿👍
This is very impressive for the 1980s! The decade that the biggest hit song was by Olivia Newton-John, who passed away last year at 73. She will live forever with music from the decade before, not just the decade of.
I also notice this is similar to the New Super Mario Bros. series.
I'm pretty sure Thriller was the biggest song.
nostalgia just hits me hard.
I never was that good at this game but loved to play it
Just ordered a copy to replay I loved this game.
I used to play this game when i was 7 years old in video from TV i missed my childhood 😞
My brother and I would always joke about the first king's transformation XD

😍😍😘❤❤❤ mi amor !!!
All we had were monthly computer magazines that gave some hidden secret info
The second game was too difficult and they started making the games easier for western gamers
