The M&M show (Midori & Miyako) is the very definition of a Vulcan mind meld when they harmonize. Midori dropped out of dental college at 20 to enter a prestigious music school to learn guitar. Miyako is a classical trained pianist (check out Swan Song with the Chopin piano intro to see how great) who self-taught at 18. They are polar opposites who blend together perfectly. They practice away from the band so that they are perfect Live, yet maintained their personalities. Fami is only 20, yet a real master ( Miho the founder and former bassist) was a hugh Steve Harris fan and never used a pic. ASAMI on vocals is an ex ballerina who sang backup R&B, Soul, and Jazz before joining LB. Haruka on drums at 4' 9" is a demon who never seems to sweat no matter how much she drives the pace for this band. They have many influences, but what makes them unique is how they blend them, often in the same song effortlessly. Welcome to the Wolfpack. BTW, many of the Japanese bassist don't use a Pic and sound really awesome because of it.

M & M have different playing styles, and we all may have our personal favorites. But as I understand it, there's no "internal war" or even battle between wolves. What you quickly understand, is, that M & M support each other and make them better than the sum of their single talent. Same for the rest of the group, no-one is dispensable. They for a perfect pentagram, if you will. They complement each other. That's why it was so difficult to find a successor for bassist Miho, but luckily, prodigy bassist Fami fits in so perfectly!

Me, Myself, and I got together and had a discussion on Lovebites. The three of us have decided to refer to Lovebites as the 8th Wonder of the World!!!!
While on tour, Midori and Miyako hang out and work on their harmonizing and future solos for new songs. While on hiatus, Miyako went to Midori to learn how to play faster and I think it shows in the new Album. During that time, it was said that Asami worked on her English. If so, you can tell her English is also better in the new album.
It is fun learning new things about these ladies and the journey never disappoints.

@@tubeit2908 Being a musician is hard living, only a few bands get rich doing it. 10k is a lot, so she had to get a loan to buy it. I think that is the reason why you see artists in Japan are doing several project at the same time, or doing live shows with other, just to earn enough to make a living. Japanese bands are lucky in the sense that physical media is not dead, as they still sell CDs and DVD/Blu-rays. So even with a low Spotify number they still make ok money.

As far as I'm concerned, Those Goddesses are equal. As you said, they are the best of friends, and help each other shine. Same language. Different accents. In some songs/performances, I prefer what Miyako lays down. In others it is Midori. There's no competition between them. And Metal is the only beneficiary, no matter what people think.
If you really want to see them in "Conversation Mode", please react to 'Scream For Me' (live). Fourteen solo's in one song. Two each during the main part of the song. And ten of them in handoff mode at the end. As a guitarist, you will really appreciate it. But pay attention to the rolling bass & drum lines underneath all those solo's. Absolutely sublime.

Thanks for reacting to amazing Lovebites and spreading the word because they deserve more recognition. These women are extremely talented, skillful and exceptional versatile musicians. Their live performances are just outstanding. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. To me, it’s nonsense trying to compare Midori vs Miyako; they complement each other. Miyako is also a concert level classical pianist. Some people say that they’re breaking the stereotypes in the metal scene. They have influences from Metallica, Judas Priest, Slayer, Megadeth, Dragonforce, Deep Purple, Helloween, Angra, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. They toured Europe and Asia in 2018 and 2019. They toured the UK in 2019 opening for Dragonforce (they’re good friends, by the way). My next recommendation is “Hammer of wrath” (live, 2023 version, same concert).

Never lived Never died Never end No way to go
Every night Everywhere Everything Arriving of darkness
What is “right” What is “wrong” What is “sin” Who’s to decide?
Hide and seek Truth or dare Playing tag Chased by the evil
Another back and forth of gaining and losing
    Running out of my time
Each tick of the clock’s taking down piece of my life again
Who’s ally Who’s against Who’s to pick All in your hand
Up and down, in and out, left or right, answers turn around
What do you see in this world full of insanity?
When the rain come to end, what’s waiting us Don’t look away
    This is the truth
    RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY!
    Life - Given the “foreverness”
    RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY!
Life - Leaving name in history
Tragedy in the past find salvation
Now with the great will, the path lay in front of me
Starting here, this is the day!
    SOLO: midori / miyako /midori /miyako / both

I'm sure avid fans of LOVEBITES enjoy debating "Which one do you like better, Midori or Miyako?" However, I don't think they will debate "Which skill is better, Midori or Miyako?" Also, I don't think Midori and Miyako themselves have a sense of which one of them is better. The person they are fighting against is probably the song itself. They seem to be focused on one thing: ``How can I play the perfect melody?''
I also feel that one of the great virtues that Japanese female bands have in common is that they recognize and fully respect each other's talents that are superior to their own.

    You and Miyako would get along like a house on fire because she's a complete guitar nerd too! She will typically get through about five different guitars in the space of one concert. There is her Dean Icon, her Dean Custom run ML Switchblade and, yes, her Dean Signature Model V that she is using in this video. Miyako is the only female signature artist on the Dean books. She also sometimes cracks out a homemade strat and her Gibson Les Paul for her more bluesy moments. In addition to this she'll also play an acoustic guitar, keyboards, grand piano and, on one memorable occasion, even a keytar! Probably her most unusual (and most expensive) guitar however is her recently acquired Gibson Korina Flying V. There's a lovely video of her buying this addition to her armory and I'll put the link to it here for your entertainment;
    ruclips.net/video/WUhnRPgFgtU/видео.html
To really see the depth of this extraordinary lady's musical genius you have to see her on the piano. She was a concert standard pianist long before she ever picked up a guitar. I'm sure other people have recommended this song but I'll add my endorsement to it. It's called "Swan Song" but Miyako bookends the song with two classical pieces on the piano. It's one of Lovebites' masterpieces and I'll include the link here.

My all-time favorite song by my all-time favorite band, with 50+ years of being a metalhead behind me (I'm 63). For me personally, I think the studio version is a tad better just because the production really makes this song more epic. The fact they can pull this song off live is amazing. Another reactor brought up Trivium with this song too - they said if they threw Trivium, Iron Maiden, Lady Gaga, and Dream Theater in a blender, you get this song/Lovebites. Obviously Lady Gaga is a reference to Asami's voice. Miyako is an amazing musician (my favorite) who plays two instruments at elite level, and is an amazing composer. Midori is such a shredder. Fami is a dream on bass, and although Miho was great in the band, I feel Fami's style fits better with M&M. And Haruna is a beast on her kit. Enjoy this reaction.

Thanks for more LOVEBITES, and your sensitivity to the fan's enthusiasm!
We each have our views & preferences, Midori and/or Miyako.
I am continually impressed by both, their solo-compositions (each writes their own), their collaboration on "twin-solos" (as Miyako calls their duets) and their technical abilities and HOW they use them, moving through various techniques while retaining a melodic flow.
I find Miyako's solos to be more 'traditional' sounding, familiar yet original. Always excellent.
Miyako is 'self-taught' from age 18, learning others' Metal songs/riffs and using an instruction book called "Mechanical Training Phrases From Hell".
Midori decided at age 20 to switch her 'schooling' from Pharmacist to Metal Guitarist.
She excelled at Musicians Institute in techniques & speed and now composes & performs solos from her own unique melodic-sense, transcending the 'familiar' and venturing into 'sound-effects' territory in ways that are unconventionally emotionally-expressive.
"Break The Wall" is an excellent example of these two putting what I have described on full display, imo. ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html
Midori will destroy the wall, climaxing with dive-bomb, then step forward to revel in her victory, then transition the entire mood of the song, joined by Miho's bass 'feature' creating 'space' for Miyako's "Gary Moore-esque" classic-soulful solo.
For me, the "emotion" is equal, though drastically different.
Possibly 'most intense' to 'most serene' of all LOVEBITES' songs, in the same song!
One (of many) of LOVEBITES music aspects that consistently enthralls me is their transitions featuring the 'tight' rhythm-section, be it Miho/Haruna or Fami/Haruna.
Haruna is unsurpassed in precision dbl-kick & cymbal-accents that support vocal & chordal melody. I am a drummer/guitarist and had never heard such use of cymbals previously.
    🐺 dreg👁 (sub'd for more LOVEBITES!)

Good ear with the slap. The original bassist and co-founder Miho left the band about 2 years ago and they held an open audition for a new bassist. The winner, Fami, is a prodigy who already had a huge following on her personal YT channel where she arranged bass covers and had some original content. As far as style goes, Fami has, at least to me, a unique way of playing where she chords a lot with the left hand and thumps and plucks with he right hand with a sort of flamenco like strum, if that makes any sense. At first watch, it almost feels fake, because your eyes don't match what you're hearing. In fact, her most popular cover is an anime vocaloid cover called "Alien Alien" she did at 16, where she's doing crazy tapping, effortlessly hitting harmonics and thump slap flamenco strums in such a crazy way that a lot of people thought it was fake, until she released a video playing it live at a show. I think that's what your brilliantly picking up, that hybrid style. As far as the original bassist Miho, she's more traditional, finger picking and in a way that reminds me a lot of the Suicidal Tendencies Robert Trujillo and a little Cliff Burton. She also has a unique way of playing with her feet hand with a technique that is almost like a rolling motion, but not quite to the point of a hammer on it slide. It looks real fluid and chaotic at the same time, allowing her to fly lightning fast up and down the fret board. In any case, Miho was a great songwriter and had that special bassist/drummer connection with the other founding member, Haruna, when they were in the same band before Lovebites. It's going to be interesting to see how much of Fami's personal style with bass get woven into Lovebites as they move forward (Miyako, the Dean guitarist, also played bass on the latest album). I personally think "Judgement Day" is about the limit you'd want to go, as far as slap, in order to keep the feel of Lovebites. You have a great ear, you'll notice what I mean as you delve into the original lineup's music. They have a great catalogue, and it ranges from thrash, symphonic metal, power metal and then adds elements of rock, blues and even 80s synth rock in some songs. It's going to be well worth the journey. Great reaction! Enjoy!

Midori typically has faster solos and Miyako typically more melodic. I think that just comes down to their playing preferences, and the roles they like to fill in songs to give it that contrast. Miyako has said that she can play fast, it's more that she doesn't have to. It's definitely not a war for me. They're both absolutely amazing. "Crazy Shredder" (Midori) and "Golden Touch" (Miyako) are their nicknames. Miyako has really strong classical influences, due to being trained as a classical pianist since the age of 3, and she is at least as good if not better on piano (which is amazing). You could check out some tracks where you see that side of her as well. She also writes at least half their material. If pressed, I'll say Miyako is my favorite. Check out "Break the Wall" live from 2020 to see quite the contrast in their styles (by design in this song): ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html

I've recently rediscovered this side of Japanese metal (I had listened to them in the past but kind of forgotten them). Miyako has a sort of nonchalance that I prefer over the badassery of Modori they're both superb musicians. There's also the start of a joke in their backgrounds: A ballerina, a fitness model and a classical pianst walk up on a stage...
Another band in this neck of the woods that might be worth checking out is Unlucky Morpheus. They're a bit more to the neoclassical side than Lovebites, but the same tempo and energy. They're also top of the line musicians and are all massive (music) nerds that started out as an anime-song cover band and have since done mostly original work. A song that shows off everyone's abilities really well is the live version of Black Pentagram ruclips.net/video/RUiRlUGMTwY/видео.html

Among the fans of LOVEBITES, there are those who prefer Miyako (brunette), and those who prefer Midori (blonde). But I didn’t notice any "war" among the fans about this. Miyako fans and Midori fans respect both ladies.
I like Midori better (as a guitarist). In general, Midori is my favorite member of the band. But this does not mean that Miyako is weaker as a guitarist. I put Midori and Miyako on the same level in guitar playing skills. Each of them just has their own style.
Besides, Miyako is a true musical genius. She wrote about 50% of the band's music. In the melodies she writes you can often catch the influence of classical music, which Miyako adores as a pianist! For me, Miyako is the Mozart of the XXI st century. No wonder she was nicknamed the 'The Golden Touch'.

I think you have misunderstood something. Fans generally love all members of Lovebites and 100% love when Midori and Miyako play together. Among fans I have not really heard so much about any discussions who is best. It is quite common among reactors though. And, some years ago it was a kind of annoying standard comment among reactors that Midori is so outgoing and is so good with her audience interaction while Miyako only stands there like a zombie. That was not fun. We all know the different personalities of Midory and Miyako, they are very different. But both are fantastic musicians and very nice persons, and totally best friends doing lots of fun stuff together. And actually, when Miyako seems far away she is concentrating and feeling the music. And, as far as I understand, Miyako is more comfortable in small situations. Like actually, most people are. Please go up on that stage and feel like it is your natural habitat. Not many do. Another such artificial thing is the talk about Miho vs Fami. I do not think I ever have heard a fan that do not love both. Miho had her reasons to leave, and she was one of the two founders after all, Haruna being the other. And Fami was a very nice find. Miho had her heavy and stable rock finger bass and Fami is more technical and do slapping and diverse fancy stuff, now learning rock and metal. All is good.
I think you shall take a look at the video "Stand and deliver" which is the second one with Fami. Then you get some insight regarding the good friends in Lovebites, and how much fun they have. I love that video. Its good music also, you get that as a bonus.

I found this band back in 2017 and it was instant love, and in the beginning, there was a lot of hate for Lovebites in this racist country (America). The English and European were more receptive with Lovebites being an all-female metal band. There were 4 of us who fought long and hard to get more exposure for Lovebites but the hatred was relentless these Americans love gimmick bands and prefer dance routine over talented musicians. Three years down the road some began to cave and accept Lovebites because more reactors began to showcase them on their channel. Now many are wondering why Lovebites hasn't come to America I can tell why they have waited, there is still not enough acceptance and perhaps still too much hatred and I don't blame Lovebites for it.

k, this is actually the first time i've actually sat down and paid attention to this band ; and my initial instinctual reaction is: "Priest, but with b00bies and way better bass lines, but lacking in vocal 'aggression'".
take that for what it's worth 🤷‍♂
i'll need more time with this band to figure out if i like them or not. it'll come down to whether or not i can warm up to the vocalist (there's a lack of diction, and don't know if i like this particular tone with this style of music) ; but the dueling guitars and dynamic bass are certainly making a powerful argument. we'll have to see.
btw, i also remember a very similar debate about "which is the better guitarist" amongst Slipknot fans back when they first hit the scene. and let's not get started on the Murray/Smith/Gers debate (a la Iron Maiden) 😂

The guitar and bass have fully sold me. I can understand where you are coming from with the critique, but I haven't heard any new music in this style for a while. So it tickles the right part of my brain 😂

@@Double_J_48629 Although the vocals aren’t what I would call perfect (especially in Break the Wall and Thunder Vengeance), the band has amazing instrumentals and will have an easy time standing out from other bands because of it. In terms of me picking a favorite, it’s more about Lovebites winning vs other bands when looking at an overall picture, rather than me just picking what I consider the best vocalist to then be my favorite band. For songs, I recommend checking out Solider Stands Solitarily and A Frozen Serenade (for Frozen, check the live version).

A bit difficult to sing in a language that's foreign to you, I'd think. Hell, I still can't understand a lot from my favorite Robert Plant after 40 years! That's why I give Asami even higher marks than normal, aside from her amazing range, tone, and breath control. Few in the world could do what she is doing.
