    Just ordered your paper from your Etsy store and so excited to get to work with it. I discovered your paper via watching The Crafsman Steady Crafting video. Just wanted to give a shoutout to him. 😊I appreciate your reply to my question regarding the pigment ink for the Epson, so will definitely will use my laser printer.

    I'd use a rubber roller to press out the air and evenly apply the image to the wood. Also, a sponge brush or roller would more evenly apply the gel medium, no brush strokes or missed spots

  • @carlmarcs3647

    1. apply liquitex for 10 seconds
    2. place the print onto the wood
    3. rub for at least one minute, but probably way longer because the video was cut a bunch of times
    4. upload a video to youtube saying that no rubbing is required

    • @efrancis19
      @efrancis19 7 лет назад +4

      The "no rubbing" he refers to in the title is not the process you see in the video. He is saying you don't have to rub the paper away after the medium dries, as is shown in many other transfer videos.

    Hi Tom. I'm soooo excited that I received my paper yesterday. I had trouble getting it to print as it kept jamming in the printer. I guess my "fine paper" setting is not sufficiently fine/thin. I put a tiny bit of glue stick on the top and attached it to a typical printer paper and had no problem. Ignore all the people with the awful comments. I think your paper is awesome!!!!! Thank you for creating it.

      Hello
      Right now We are out of supply of our paper. Our supplier changed manufacturers before we knew it. We do not know how long we will be replenished. The shop will be closed for the time needed to find a reliable source. Many of you are experienced users and will understand that their patience will be rewarded. We regret for the newcomers this momentary break of stock. Two and a half years ago we invented the concept of a transfer paper that does not need to be rubbed, the adventure continues! Thanks for your patience News will be posted on our Facebook Page facebook.com/Palissade.Image

    Hi Tom. Waited a while for my shipment to come to the states. I'm afraid ten sheets later my HP Laserjet 2600 Color printer does not like this no matter how many settings I tried including the 120 g/sm, the light gloss, transparency, etc. I added blue printers tape to keep it from curling into a jam. No luck. Really wanted it to work and I'm out of ideas. It just jams. Thanks.

      Yeah, I've been all over the FB posts and explanations. I have a Macbook Air and use OS High Sierra Version 10.13.12 Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB so it seems okay and of course the Windows fixes don't apply. In terms of my printer features I can choose Glossy (106 -120 s/sq), Light 60-74, Light Glossy 75-105 g/sqm, Heavy Glossy 121-163, or Transparency (which totally garbled it). I'll take a photo of what the paper is coming out like after printing. It's a good color printer otherwise.

    the transfer came out great. My main complaint is that the paper is so thin, it would often get destroyed in a laser machine to copy the image. I didn't try taping to a piece of paper, which I could try to see how it would go through a laser copy printer. I happen to have an ink jet machine myself.
    thanks,
    Jill

      Yes, this is usual gel medium process - paper is there to be laser printed, difference is, like you saw, easy to be peeled off. .

    • @TomPalissade
      @TomPalissade  8 лет назад +1

      Brittany Williams
      I use it on painted wood, walls, candles, stones etc. The gel medium makes the pigments transfer, the paper can then be peeled off without becoming a porridge of fibers.

    • @TomPalissade

  • @cynthianeely3122
    @cynthianeely3122 5 лет назад +2

    So you say it all depends on how you apply the gel medium yet you don't "really" go into how to do that, how thick etc.Clearly if there is not enough the image won't transfer but what if there is too much? How do you know when you have applied enough. Any hints on what to look for in the light or any pointers as to how much gel to apply. Also wondering if a liquid medium like a glazing medium would work (so easy to get even coverage). About to experiment with your papers tonight. Printing on my Brother went well as long as the paper type is adjusted on the printer.

    • @TomPalissade
      @TomPalissade  5 лет назад

      Cynthia Neely
      There is something belonging to the common sense that I should remind. A transfer is made by a glue, gel medium or any varnish, not by the paper. The paper is an intermediate medium that will be used for the glue to make the transfer, you want an extreme thin layer of ink/toner to be transferred, not a paper, the quantity of glue is more linked to the surface to be covered than for its thickness. So you need to apply enough glue to make sure any single pixel is going to be glued to the final support. If using different supports, uneven ones or textured ones you become an experienced user that will think of the hint to get to be able to make a perfect transfer, then you will make sure there us no space empty of glue.
      Before this paper, it wasn't possible to do it for a simple reason, ink was mixed with the paper fiber, when you remove the paper you can't see how much ink is removed from it. I hope it's more clear for you! Becoming a new advanced user is what a lot of users are doing when visiting our Facebook page facebook.com/Palissade.Image

    can you do this to wood that has been stained with a finish?

    • @TomPalissade
      @TomPalissade  7 лет назад +2

      Chauga Valley Farm LLC
      It's not really a question of stain but it's color, light colored wood will give more color vibrance than dark ones, the transfer is made by the gel, so where the gel or glue can stick it works. I hope this answers 🌺

      I don't see the interest of using wax under a transfer. We are dealing with water based glues, not with oil based products. You may knew that oil and water are not friends don't you

      No idea, I limit myself to what I've tried.
      But if you already used the "Acrylic Gel medium process" you should know what glue works. The paper itself is printable and peelable, only the glue makes the transfer.

    Fantastic product! A few questions please: Is it necessary to wear gloves when working with this paper? What do you use to seal your transferred image? I have an Epson printer that uses pigment based inks instead of dye based so do you think the pigment based inkjet printer might be an option? Thank you.

    • @TomPalissade
      @TomPalissade  7 лет назад +3

      Marjie NS816
      No gloves necessary, this is water based acrylic gel medium. Sealing is made with same gel medium already used or any other one
      For pigment ink printers, I have only tried Epson work force with dura brite inks, i didn't like the results, i can't affirm that claria inks will do the same.
      Laser printer recommended! on 200 videos I've seen on youtube, only unexperienced youtubers are not talking about laser printers. Difference is more than subtle, toner powder is already an encapsulated resin that will be melted to the paper by hot rolls. Inks don't have same properties, they make tiny bubbles and does not dry properly. Find my palissade image transfer FB Page on Google, few explanations and examples can be found.

      It last as long as your sealing last, like any varnish protected support. If you want a long lasting protection, use resin based products

    Hello tom, super great video tutorial can't wait myself to do that :) , just wanna ask after you remove the paper did you put a gel on the wood, just like sir adrian do in SLR coaching then let it dry as a final touch or you just let it dry after removing the paper? One more question is it ok to use varnish for the finale? please reply thanks. God bless!

    • @TomPalissade
      @TomPalissade  8 лет назад +2

      Gavin TP
      Yes Gavin, always seal the pores of acrylic to close them and to protect from UV.
      Like any printed paper they don't like long exposition to light. You can add as many coats as you want including varnishes or waxes.

  • @lestatdelc

    Have you or others tried this technique to apply an image to plastic, such as a model kit?
    Being able to cleanly transfer just the printing (such as lettering) onto a model surface without any backing film (which is how typical water-slide decals work) would be a fantastic. The halo created by backing film is often noticeable on some decals when applied to a painted model, and also "silvering" when the decal film lifts up from the model surface can often make a decal look bad.
    So being able to transfer just the printed image/text without ant residual backing film, would potentially solve a host of issues scale-model often run into.

    • @TomPalissade
      @TomPalissade  4 года назад

      The transfer of the image is made by the glue and keeps embedded in it. We do not know glues or gel mediums that grips on plastic so we do not recommend this process for non gripping surfaces

  • @jasonlangford2689
