I still remember that exact moment at Cape May when I lost all hope. I'm sure it's different for everybody. The lesson that I learned from my experience and I have carried with me for the rest of my life is to never, ever quit and never give up. As they say at Cape May: "We know that if you don't quite here, you won't quit out there." It's true. It's not how many times you get knocked down that matters. It's only how many times you get back up that counts. I hope that lesson is helpful to someone.
I'm 32 years old and want to join the reserves. My main goal is to have a career in the Merchant Mariner industry. Would this be a problem scheduling wise? Is there a path catered to this? My recruiter isn't talking to me lol

Don’t worry about training yourself mentally. BE LOUD, BE FAST, and pay ATTENTION. Also something I can not stress enough is try to get as much required knowledge down as you can before you go! You will make it through boot camp if you go in with zero knowledge, but it is soooooo much easier if you go in with more required knowledge down

Agreed. Coming back from a low point is such a good feeling. That's the message I wanted to convey with this video.
@@CGCareerCentral You succeeded. Thanks for all you do. Semper Paratus!
Dont focus on losing hope. Focus on being honor man so you get your choice of duty. If you dont want to be honor man why be there?

There's more to the CG than boot camp. Bye.
I agree there's more. I've made videos on lots of topics in the Coast Guard. I'm always open to requests for topics.
