  • Used "Vintage" 1987 Alvarez Yairi DY-62 Cedar Top, Burled Mahogany back and sides with curly Maple Binding. Stereo Piezio Pickup system with Low three vs Top three volume and EQ adjustments. Will run in mono with the versatile adjustments as well. Low Action, excellent playability.
Condition is fair in that it has a couple of repaired cracks, finish problems and overall cosmetic imperfections. The former owner carved off the "Kazuo Yairi" signature. The guitar is in excellent structural condition. Sounds great, plays great, straight neck, machines are smooth and bridge is tight. Electronics work great - this is a live show work horse or a great back and forth studio guitar. It's an awesome sounding guitar with plenty of volume and "mojo".

I have what is likely am '85 also... I bought it new with insurance money from the loss of an Ovation legend and a Carvin DC400 Koa in Ft. Lauderdale when our band's truck was stolen from a gig, likely at the directive of the mobish jersey owners. My Yairi has no electronics or quilting. It too, is still a fantastic guitar and I love it very much. Our drummer's cases were on the truck also and I was forced to pack the drums in cardboard for the next several gigs... I wished misfortune on those a-holes for quite some time and still do if they survived...

So glad I found you online, Charles. This guitar is beautiful, sounds great, but as soon as I plugged it in, it sounded EXACTLY like Monte Montgomery, and it’s helping me play better than I ever have before!
There’s just something about the pick up system in this thing; it gets more out of me, helps me play more aggressively, play faster, etc.

@@ChuckEzell I finally got to play it on stage New Year’s Eve, and it sounded phenomenal! But I am so used to using my other guitars with microphones inside as well as ribbon pick ups, that I had to start using my Taylor a lot that night to put down the beat that I’m looping over, etc.
I subscribed to your channel when I first contacted you. Hope you’ll take a look at my page and do the same. I do need to get off my lazy butt and start posting more videos, though.

I have a signed 1989 Kazuo Yairi. Serial code 44021. I bought it in 1993 from Berlin, Germany. Still in excellent condition! 🖖🎸
