  • Let's go over the most basic stitch in Bucilla kits: the appliqué stitch! You will need to know how to do this stitch if you want to make those cute felt projects I'm always doing videos on. And while you are at it, come join Stitch and Bear Time's facebook group! Link provided below :-)

Thanks Leslee. Do you have a recommendation for spacing the stitches?

Practice practice practice! You could also draw two marks on your thumb that hold the felt pieces together while you sew to use as a guide. I typically like to sew my stitches about 5 mm apart or less, but that’s just a personal preference.

Hi Graciela! This does seem like a difficult kit to come by for international buyers. I recommend looking on eBay to see if you can find it within your price range. If you are wanting a Bucilla kit that does not necessarily need to be Cruising Santa, I would recommend trying to buy from 123Stitch or Herrschners. Good luck on your search!

I was always taught to sew in direction TO yourself, and you do it FROM yourself....is it comfortable ??

@@МаринаМихайличенко-й5и It depends on which stitch I am doing, but yes, I sew away from myself with the appliqué stitch because it's more natural for me and my stitches turn out even that way. It's similar to writing with a pencil. We all hold a pencil slightly differently, some of us are left handed, some of us are right handed - just do what is natural for you!
