I love that Yakuza keeps it going with the gangsters being literal babies. Like how in Like a Dragon you can make the choice to have Ichiban drink the formula after it's own baby gangster mission lol
You have to admit, tekken character endings are amazing. I love how strange they are, and it really helps the weirdness of some of the character varieties. Not to mention I feel Mishima Industries or whatever the company is called really shouldn't be taken all that serious in the context of the story lol its all just madness.
Well that just happen in character endings, which most of it is not canonical. Canon plot, oh yea Mishima Zaibatsu is no joke. You had to take that seriously. The characters ending just meant to be goofy that all, especially in Tekken Tag, the non-canon game
The Control music video actually does make sense. In that part of the story, Jesse has realized that the Oceanview Motel & Casino (where you see the music video) is actually just a part of her dreams, so she can control it. And, that's what her mind makes up. A crazy, whacky music video. Jesse even remarks afterwards that "Your mind is weird, Jesse." or something to that effect. So yeah, there's context. You just missed it.
Hmm. I'm not disagreeing, but I don't really get it. Like, we know other people have used the motel before Jesse. Enough for it to be implemented as a part of FBC security. It's not a product of her dreams, I thought, but something the Bureau has discovered and (mostly) figured out how to use. I thought the music video was, considering we see it after finding out Darling has travelled to a "different plane of existence," a hint that wherever he is, he's happy.
That Origins one was so weird and confusing to me, since I hadn't played Final Fantasy, but I LOVED my weird mystical mount for crossing the desert. Always switched to a more normal animal in the cities, though 😆

Still think the weirdest thing in a game I ever saw was a side quest in Cyberpunk 2077 where you help a convicted murderer literally crucify himself. You take part in nailing him to a big crucifix while reciting prayers. Meanwhile there's cameras around in the game to record the whole event for one of those "brain dance" things. It's all really bizarre

I really feel like the out of nowhere rhythm game dance off at the honeybee inn in FF7 remake deserves a spot in this list. I think my jaw was on the floor while simultaneously crying with laughter during that whole sequence.
Just today I went to "terror island" in Tales of Berseria, and it turned out that it was actually the home island of the Normin Malakhim; not only *that* , but the whole island is a giant *cake* , with a chocolate river/waterfall; it's so *weird* in the usually fairly believable world of Tales of Berseria, that when the crew first arrives, even Velvet's like "What the Hell?" I think the Tekken dev just look at the stats that most fighting game players just skip the story modes, they want to put something that is just so batshit crazy to people to play them.
The ending for Lars in Tekken Tag 2 was basically a fever dream he had of having a “normal” family dinner with the other Mishimas. Lars is actually Heihachi’s son, just like Kazuya, but their family is anything but normal. So that’s why this ending was great and funny as well. 😂😂😂
One of my more recent WTF moments was in Kingdom Hearts 3. When Sora and just about All of his friends and allies, get one shot waxed by Terra-Xehanort. And it happens in a cutscene, you have absolutely no control. Likewise there's another cutscene earlier on when Riku gets his Keyblade from KH2 - Way to Dawn, destroyed which was supposed to be a manifestation of his heart shaped much like the Soul Eater from the first game and Chain of Memories. So how the hell it could Break apart from being destroyed by those tornado swarm Heartless. And I'll still never get where the hell he got the New Keyblade - Braveheart, in the 3rd official title. Not to mention how weird and dumb it is that Xion who is more or less not supposed to exist anymore, is a Keyblade wielding Nobody formed from Kairi and Sora when their hearts were joined and then separated in KH1. If anything she should've had her own sort of abnormal looking Keyblade much like Ventus' from KH: BBS, with the reverse head design. But if nothing else I think her's was basically supposed to be Oblivion that Roxas was duel wielding along with Oathkeeper yet Nomura never clarified if it was. And that's not going into why Kairi is still using that flower Keyblade she got from Riku in his Ansem (Heartless) form - Destiny's Embrace. The whole point about the Keyblades was that they were supposed to be manifested by the wielder to indicate the design based on their heart and personality. Like Terra's being large for strength and Aqua's for looking sleek and elegant or Eraquis' for seeming simple but having an underlying strength similar to a Katana to it much like his design seeming reminiscent of an old Samurai. That's like if I had a reputation for being a sort of Tech geek but the Keyblade that I would generate just looked like a flaming horned skull just because I like some of the music from Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal instead of coming out more like the Photon Debugger from Space Paranoids or the Dual Disc from the Grid. And then for something that my heart (plot manifested power weapon) creates and hides at my command to get broken, makes even less sense since technically if you put it back in yourself it should come back out good as new. It's not like the sword needs to be assembled by some great Keyblade blacksmith.
I remember being so shocked by the final fantasy cameo in origins I looked at my dad, who was watching me play atm, and said "look, it's ra". For anyone who doesn't know, ra is the sun god in egyptian mythology.
lol he hasn’t seen when dante in DMC5 claims his “hat weapon" and does his michael jackson dance not to mention that the weapon is shooting your blood points that you use to upgrade tbh goofy but funny af and i love it

Japanese games are the best. You don’t get this kind of weirdness and hilariously odd moments with western games. The amount of creativity is awesome, It just adds to the appeal of those games. I love ‘em! 😂
There was that bit in Silent Hill 2 with the radio quiz show in the elevator. It's never explained, and I'm not sure there's any lore reason for it despite James acknowledging it's happening to him. So it's canon unlike the Dog Ending, but just plain weird and unexplained.
The music video at the end of MDK (1997) deserves an honorable mention. Maybe not so weird by today's standards, but back then it was really a surprise to see.
Lol when he got to the No More Heroes one, I didn't remember the name of the boss but I knew exactly what he was going to talk about. That scene was really "WTF!!?"
I was thinking about Senator Armstrong at the end of MGR: Revengeance. The Senator fight takes the cringe level so high that it is funny and memorable at the same time.
This entire list could be Yakuza side missions lol. The S&M guy, the naked bubble guy, the guy caught in a trash pile, it just goes on and on. The baby one is definitely a GOAT contender though
True Crime Streets of L.A surprised me back in the day with the introduction of supernatural elements almost in the end of the story.. you are a Cop in a GTA like game.. and then you are dealing with undead, demons and a dragon! That was great for me at the time becuz It was so unexpected.. I also remember fondly of GTA VC Stories with the zombie mission, I was an early teen and didn't knew english at the time so I believed It was zombies for real.. also the mission with the robot was quite exotic. I could also mention Saints Row 2.. with that "immortal" rasta boss.
Oh hey!! I _just_ posted a comment about that! I'm not the only one who remembers! :D "True" Crime indeed. XD It just... it just came _completely_ out of nowhere! Wasn't that one bad guy also an immortal vampire ghost or something? He calls Nick Kang on his phone near the end of the story, implies he's lived for centuries, and then fades out into nothing... or something like that, I don't remember the details.
Yakuza is so good with the story. Then the super wierd stuff makes the game better in some wierd way. Haha you could have done a 20-30 wierd stuff in Yakuza series. Keep up the good work with all the videos. Peace from Sweden
I dont know if this really counts, but I really found it way too amusing when I found the roombas in Destiny 2. You could find them on Titan in the corridors where seveal missions and the Strike takes place.
One of the most weird or maybe more disturbing moments I had in gaming was in Scarlett Nexus, the last bond mission with Gemma and Yuito. I think it's mainly because I did not except the game's story to be so dark. Like, I mean, human brains play a major role here
The Control one makes sense because the Overview Motel is considered to be an inter-dimensional location, so in one dimension, Dr. Darling became a music icon in the 80’s.
I’ll be honest, the ape thing in Sekiro is like a fairly standard trope in Japanese media, it’s just based on old yokai legend type stuff. The ape monsters in Monster Hunter would do that all the time too, but I guess people don’t remember that anymore since Capcom basically got rid of every monster that isn’t a dragon or an oversized rodent in all the Monster Hunter games since World.
I really think you guys should start doing this series as a weekly thing and give it more thought. The ideas for the top10s are decent but the selection itself starts to seem a bit lacking lately. Amazing how you got it going for so long but it might be time for some change.
Control was one of the best gaming experiences I've had and that music video was a close #2 to the final fight at the end, which has music that changes depending on your progression!
I know nothing about Final Fantasy, but I stumbled across that quest on AC Origins & I loved it. No idea what the context was, and always used the shield, sword & horse skin
If you wanna see a very strange game just search Cruelty Squad. It may seem just a mess of a game, but the more you play the more you understand and make more sense, I guess. Markiplier made a video about the game if you are interested.
Miyazaki always had a philosophy that a boss or monster should have SOME form of dignity. The gapping dragon is and blood starved beast of bloodborne fame I would add this fight to the list aswell. Where Miyazaki didn't give them any compartivly to the games other bosses. Such a excellent director.
Every time I replay Yakuza Kiwami 2 substory, I’m always laughing my ass how funny it is. I’m glad the devs improved and made this scene more hilarious with the music, graphics and especially the face expressions from PS2 version.
I remember reading an article about two real life yakuza playing one of the games and commenting on what the games got right and wrong. Essentially, they agreed Kiryu was more the ideal "old school" gangster that didn't reflect the reality much. But I'd have love to known what they'd have made of stuff like the adult baby quest.
I have to agree on the Tekken endings... there are some that seem like the real ones, where stuff seems to be serious about what is going on afterwards (usually one of Jin, Kazuya and Heichai), then you have the cookiecutters where the whole thing just ends up nicely... and there are the weird ones, the one that springs to my mind is Marshall Law settling all his debts, emerges broke from the debt sharks office... and Paul (who got Marshall into debt in the first place) rolls up half burned on a tricycle asking for another round of help before face-planting onto the ground.
This list could have been filled with just Yakuza 😂

Dragon Age 2, what happens with Hawke's mother. If you know, you know.
That one was both sad and creepy.
@@jaredc304 Dragon Age has tons of dark stuff, but that moment had me almost paralyzed in shock.
The Yakuza one, the family head ccomes back as a summon in the latest one... Should have added that as a honorable mention.
I’m happy you guys drop a video everyday
lol he hasn’t seen when dante in DMC5 claims his “hat weapon" and does his michael jackson dance not to mention that the weapon is shooting your blood points that you use to upgrade tbh goofy but funny af and i love it
12:45 Are we sure this guy's feeling terror and not something else?
Is it a coincidence that most of this WTF moments come from Japanese gaming studios?… I mean what I e learnt from playing these games is that many Japanese must have some serious psychological/ psychosexual issues!!!
Japanese games are the best. You don’t get this kind of weirdness and hilariously odd moments with western games. The amount of creativity is awesome, It just adds to the appeal of those games. I love ‘em! 😂
The Dmc 4 one I think about often only because of the confetti. It makes for a great reaction gif.
The way Kiryu shows the expression of him going to beat up grown up dudes in a diaper was so realistic
That was hilarious - these games are freaking nutso for real! And your commentary made it even funnier
I also want to add to the list of strange WTF moments...when GLADos becomes a potato. *SLOWCLAPS*
Lol when he got to the No More Heroes one, I didn't remember the name of the boss but I knew exactly what he was going to talk about. That scene was really "WTF!!?"
You missed the entirety of ark survival evolved ALL Genisis DLCs, space basketball, space whales, invisible tigers...
Omg just reading this made me think of Space Mammoth a song made by the Neebs gaming channel.
Love the videos. Would you be able to do a video on 2022 easy games to jump in and play with little fuss?
I was thinking about Senator Armstrong at the end of MGR: Revengeance. The Senator fight takes the cringe level so high that it is funny and memorable at the same time.
I think MGS3 when Volgin just grabs snake's balls was more wtf lol
This entire list could be Yakuza side missions lol. The S&M guy, the naked bubble guy, the guy caught in a trash pile, it just goes on and on. The baby one is definitely a GOAT contender though
The AC origins FF15 crossover was really cool
👍🏼
"True" Crime indeed. XD
It just... it just came _completely_ out of nowhere! Wasn't that one bad guy also an immortal vampire ghost or something? He calls Nick Kang on his phone near the end of the story, implies he's lived for centuries, and then fades out into nothing... or something like that, I don't remember the details.
as a Yakuza veteran, i can confirm Yakuza contains so many absurd things. especially in substories
Roger? Nah, nah Rojeer.
Falcon does this on purpose like when he says "eyeteration" instead of iteration.
LMAO at that first one. 🤣😂
2:05 that feels very quotable for some reason 😂
Wow killer7 that was a crazy game, kudos for that mention for sure. 🎉
I loved the Tekken Tag 2 endings. Never fails to make me laugh.
The dying light 2 Easter egg dancing goon zombie was weird af😂😂
I know nothing about Final Fantasy, but I stumbled across that quest on AC Origins & I loved it. No idea what the context was, and always used the shield, sword & horse skin
If you wanna see a very strange game just search Cruelty Squad. It may seem just a mess of a game, but the more you play the more you understand and make more sense, I guess. Markiplier made a video about the game if you are interested.
chococamel is now my new favorite thing. thanks for giving me a reason to get this game.
I’m glad the devs improved and made this scene more hilarious with the music, graphics and especially the face expressions from PS2 version.
the boss of the substory is also a summons in yakuza 7 like a dragon.
