Hi! I found your video because as a hobbyist bookbinder I am looking for a new printer. I have a laser printer that has served me well for the past 5 years, however this year I’ll start printing school books (with graphs and a few photos) and photo books too, instead of novels and planners only. All reviews I find for the ET-8550 only talks about photos or art. I noticed the printer needs to be fed paper more often too, but that’s not a deal breaker. The fact I might be able to feed it with canvas/bookcloth might even become handy to make book covers. Another important requirement is the format (A3+) and scanner. Pigment (at least for text) is desirable. Not sure if pigment colour is easy to find. Do you think I should go for this one or the 8550 delivers text only in good quality too? Maybe a third option if it’s not too much to ask? I will have to get rid of the laser if I buy an ink tank because I don’t have too much space. Thanks a lot!
Hi thank you for your comment. Another printer I would add to the list a similar to these two is the Epson Ecotank 15,000 model. I have found that all three of these printers in the video and the 15,000 are excellent printers so long as you're using the correct settings. I wanted to print a single PDF with over 1000 pages, the hp 8023 aka 8025 did an ok job and it costed me around $150. The cartridge 912 could handle 600+ pages on draft mode.
Never really worried about monthly duty cycle, more how long can it sit between print jobs before the heads plug up and need cleaning. I do like to buy office level printers because they tend to be built to a higher quality standard and still do high quality prints with extra features. I don't know what level of pages per month the hp 9015 and 9025 are rated for but it has to be higher than a typical cheaper consumer grade printer. The Epson actually tend to do better if you use them regularly anyways so for him one of those big boys would do really well for him and ink would be cheap.
Thanx for the video. At least now both of these Epson printers have a decent 4.5" touch screen. Hope they roll that size out for the rest of their printers.
People use headphones or buds to listen to videos, and it's a negative when you can only hear your videos on one side. Feedback is to make videos that have both sides. Your content isn't bad. If I only print in Black in Epson EcoTank 3850, can I only fill in the Black ink tank, and leave the color tanks EMPTY to save money?
No unfortunantely.
Get a maxify GX5000 or GX6000, you can print exclusively black to save the colour tanks

Ecotanks by Epson's have slightly slower speed than Officejetpro. And cost a lot upfront. Stick to HP officejetpro 9000 series

Hp pagewide series is much better than these printers it can print 70 ppm and can be use to extra printing
Thats true, some of the Pagewide models have a duty cycle of 80,000 pages. I might do a pt.2 of this video with that info.
these printers are slow because they use this new cheap ink that just doesn’t print that fast most likely because it’s cheap ink lol
