u brought up some good points for consideration. one big aspect though is how easily it is to maintain these printers, and the cost of ownership.
example, epson has a maintenance box module. this can be easily removed, self cleaned under a sink, reinserted, then use an unofficial resetter app. there is an official method for this which is to replace the maintenance box, but it's more costlier and wasteful so not your 1st go to option.
next is how to maintain the headers. we all know these ink bottle printers have an issue with clogging if not used often. so the epson refering to printer guy's past videos, you can see how it's done, and it seems doable (easy enough), and using the cleaning kit for the header.
Also the epson can handle re-manufactured ink which is cheaper than the official ink.
So maintaining an ecotank you do these 3 things mostly for keeping it running and lowering cost of ownership.
So then what about the other brand printers? So that is my point. It's not just how good the performance is (though is definitely important), or other features. You also have to consider the cost of ownership and ease of maintenance (whether via official or unofficial methods).
so despite the Epson being worse on performance, for a casual user with low volume printing, it might not matter as much, as long as it fared well in other areas, especially the points i brought up when compared to the other brands.

I bought the HP 6001 from their website. The pages printed slightly crooked, but no amount of adjustments would fix it. I then had to mail the printer back to them with a full load of ink installed, because there was no way to remove the ink. And I also had to go through a bunch of steps with tech support before they would give me a return authorization number, and many attempts by them to persuade me to keep the printer even though it printed crooked. In the future I will probably stick to a local seller, Costco, Best Buy etc.

Not surprised. I am totally done with ordering ant 'technical' product online. I was 'advised that i also needed a 'return authorization number' to return a camera body. In the end, I just gave up returning the item to their business address.

Well I just bought the Canon G7020 for reasons not covered in this video. The Canon is on sale right now, July 2023, for $229. Epson ET-2850 is also $229. The HP Smart Tank 6001 is way up there at $345. The Canon G7020 has an Automatic Document Feeder which is slmost a must if you want to use its Fax function, which is another feature that the others don't have. Dual paper trays allow me to use the lower tray for standard paper and the upper tray for speciality papers, like photo and cardstock. On top of that, it came with 3 bottles of black ink, which will last me for years.

Your point about the screens is valid, but all these printers are designed to use with apps whether be on a computer or mobile. Something that’s important to me how the printers work with the software, I am running a brand new Mac with the newest operating system and also a 10 year old Mac, and I’d really like to know how well the printers will work in these scenarios. What I would be most interested in is reliability and maintainability and longevity. So can all wearing parts be replaced to keep the printer alive? Does it work reliably if I don't print once a week? I rarely print, so I don't want a printer that just doesn't work after I haven't used it for a while. I don't want to buy new cartridges just because they dried over time. And I also don't want a massive, expensive color laser printer just to be able to print color, and then not even get decent picture quality. That's why I'm looking into tank printers. But I have seen reports of Epson smearing ink on the paper while printing, or Canon dying because of full ink sponges (I guess this is not an issue anymore, it should be replaceable now, right?). Not sure if HP has/had similar issues. Does anybody have long-term experience and can tell about that?

    • @LumocolorARTnr1319
      @LumocolorARTnr1319 4 месяца назад +3

The tank printers have foam pads that take up ink inside the printer, they last about 1 year if you use the printer. When the sensor triggers that it's full, the printer will not print again and you cannot replace the foam pad yourself! Once sensor trigger it's over, even if you make your own foam pad the trigger will not reset. Printer company will say it's "beyond economical repair" and you have to buy a new printer.
They basically went from the ink scam to another planned break down scam.

You should buy laser printers. Inkjet is not for you if you dont use your printer often. Because by construction inkjet printer has tiny holes where ink droplets are ejected and when you dont use your printer the ink will dry up and clog the holes.

    • @jimmyog
      @jimmyog 26 дней назад

@@mucaaco1 Colour Toner cartridges cost more than the printer itself… no. It’s only convenient for inactivity and prints quicker but the difference in print quality is negligible and speed I don’t really care too much, I don’t need 50 pages a minute. The cost of colour toner cartridges are so high that the yield stat is pointless, it’s similar economy to ink cartridges. The lasers are also strictly limited to plain paper, the higher end ink tank printers are not that bad for maintenance. The tech has improved every release.

I currently have an Epson XP-4205 as my daily printer, but I do so many paper crafts that require a good deal of printing and like most cartridge printers, I have to keep getting cartridges! Since the Epson ST-2000 is a discontinued, used printer, I'm good with putting "generic" ink in it.

Hi, I listened to a few of your videos, very helpful ! So I purchased the Canon g7020 but there is banding on my photos/documents when I print in standard quality (no banding issues when in high quality, but you can't adjust quality setting from a smartphone, only from a pc, so all prints from my phone are terrible). After hours on the phone with Canon, they suggested to swap the printer as this seemed to be an issue with the printer. The second G7020 did the same. Got a third one from a different store, installed it at someone elses house, and I still get the same banding issue. I have read so much about banding in the last weeks.. i dont seem to be the only one having this problem with the g7020, but not that many people report this issue either.. I have tried what seems like every suggestions on how to fix it without any luck. Im about to bring the g7020 back and figure out which other printer I should buy, but I was curious if you had any last ressource for me regarding these banding issues...?!

I am looking for a printer to use with my Cricut Maker to make my own stickers but I find it really hard to figure out which one of the three brands that works the best for this purpose.
The biggest issue is to find information about the g/m2 that the printers can handle when it comes to the different papers.
On Epsons site they don't recommend any product that's not their own brand that's over 90g/m2.
I do understand that they can't recommend use of third party product since it's not been tested with their own product but I wonder if you got any good input on this?
Have you tried any paper that's not Epson of a higher weight then 90g/m2 and/or glossy?
If so how does the Epson or any of the other model perform?

For me, the main thing I was looking for was the ability to change out the print head should it die. For that, the Canon won by a mile. The heads are cheap, readily available on Amazon, and easy to swap. Not so for the HP, and I'm pretty sure the Epson doesn't let you change it easily.

Hi Brandon, stumbled on your videos yesterday. I just purchased the Epson ET-2800 yesterday from Office Depot. I had initially been using HP all in one printers that took cartridges (so this is my first tank printer.) Initially My use case is, I don't usually print a lot, and I got tired of paying HP's price for ink carts when I mainly just needed a scanner. So that's what I did initially I purchased the Epson Perfection V600 scanner which has worked fine. So, when I was considering a printer again, I was looking for something really basic, with no scanner, and just a printer.
After talking to the person at Office Depot about my needs, he recommended the Epson as the ink was cheaper, and you get more pages per ink fill as well. They had the 2850, and one of the models with the document feeders as well. However, since I don't do a lot of printer, and have a separate scanner, that's probably superior to anything in an all in one, I was mainly just focused on the printer part. So far, everything has worked, having already installed Epson software update for the scanner, didn't need the included disc. it found the latest software for the printer once I got it setup and connected to the iMac by AirPrint. Since then, everything has just worked. Then watched a few videos (including yours) and think I'm set now. I still would have preferred just a printer without a scanner, but at least I have a copy function, if I need it now.

Hi there! It's great to hear that you stumbled upon my videos and found them helpful. Congratulations on your purchase of the Epson ET-2800 printer! It seems like you made a good choice based on your requirements.
Tank printers like the ET-2800 are known for their cost-effective ink solutions, as they use refillable ink tanks instead of cartridges. It's a wise decision if you don't print a lot and were tired of paying high prices for ink cartridges with your previous HP all-in-one printer.
Since you already have a separate Epson Perfection V600 scanner that works well for your scanning needs, focusing on a printer without a built-in scanner makes sense. The person at Office Depot recommended the Epson ET-2800 based on its lower ink costs and higher page yield per ink fill. It's great that you found everything working smoothly after setting up and connecting the printer to your iMac using AirPrint.
Even though you preferred a printer without a scanner, having the copy function available can come in handy if you ever need it. It's always good to have some additional features.
If you have any specific questions or need further assistance regarding your Epson ET-2800 printer or any other technology-related topics, feel free to ask. I'm here to help!

Its like its just not there. I went through the procedure on Canon's website to install the printer with the latest software 4 times. I did all the restarts and cable swaps. Tried all of the usb ports on my computer, and nothing. I have another printer that works with the same computer and cables. I also plugged the printer into a different PC just to see if it would be recognized. Nothing as well. I was going to return it tomorrow, but I just wanted to find out if anyone has this issue and knows how to fix it. I also made some photo copies on the printer itself, and it works fine.

I'm looking for a new Eco tank type of printer. The reason I'm here is because my expensive EPSONET-4550 has some clogging issues. I was looking at your cleaning kit and I thought you mentioned in one of your videos that you had some videos for some specific printers. Do you have something for THE Epson ET-4550? At the time those were close to $500. Right now I'm looking at the new Epson ET- 4850 and the Canon G7020. I'm looking to see if there are clogging issues, a tiny waist ink collector like HP did with their Mega tank printers. After a few deep cleanings those printers disable themselves. Which renders the printer unusable. Sounds like HP doesn't want to let go of their Stranglehold on the price of ink. Well other manufacturers do. if there are jamming or disconnect issues. That seems to be the laundry list of common problems. I don't want to be Pennywise and pound foolish I'm hoping the Canon has good reviews it's almost half the price but there's probably a reason.

I have an Epson ET2760. It is less than two years old. I went away for six months and came back to a printer with all clogged nozzles. I used a nozzle cleaning kit. I got my black and magenta going, but it clogged again after a week. I also found out that there is a storage tank that fills up if you use the automatic head cleaning feature, especially power cleaning too often. If it fills up, the printer will shut down and Epson will tell you to buy a new printer. I don't know if the newer ink tank printers are any better or not. I'm going to try taking mine apart again and cleaning the nozzles manually. If that doesn't work, I'll have to buy a new printer. It's a big rip off. I did read that the expensive models do have a storage tank that you can empty. I don't know if they're worth it. Good luck!

Example in printers is the companies would never make a perfect machine easy to solve every issue … keep the best display, cost on ink.
They will never make a perfect machine because they want them to eventually fail and run out on you so you can spend $$$….

I have used and setup all thee of these printers and they are all pretty good. I have no brand loyalty whatsoever so I could care less about that. The most important factors for me are usability, features, size, reliability and longevity. I have setup 3 of the Epsons, and 2 each of the Canon and the HP. I can say that the setup process of the HP is miles ahead of the other two with the Canon being the clunkiest. The online support again is better with the HP printer and their setup process is much more refined than the other two with Epson being slight easier to setup than the Canon. As a life long photographer, I love Canon and I have personally used more of their printers, but their setup and use is always a bit less than great. I was surprised at the attention on the LCD screen as that is my least used feature on any printer, but C'est la vie, different strokes and all that. I agree performance wise that the Epson is the slowest. After setting all three up for other people, (I needed a new printer/scanner) I went with HP for performance, setup, reliability longevity and size. The HP 6001 fits easily in my rollout printer drawer under my desk and I love the paper loading from the front. I should add that the scanning performance is also much better on the HP. So far, I have had to visit each person at least once for the Epson and Canon setups, but the two people with the HP 6001 have reported no issues. The HP gets a 5 out of 5 for overall performance and reliability for me after 5 months and it is only going for 229 right now. It is also the sleekest and most compact of the three. It literally took me less than 10 minutes to setup the HP printer although, to be fair, I have had lots of practice. My only con on the 6001 is that it does not come with an ethernet port. The next model up does, but it is more than a hundred dollars more and larger.
