    You guys didn’t get this right.
    I’m a local Japanese living in Japan. When a female princess in the imperial household marries a commoner, she automatically becomes a commoner by tradition. They no longer are allowed to marry another royal as the kids would have genetic issues as bloodlines are too close. So when royals marry they just marry a commoner. In japan you take husbands name to carry his last name by law unless you have family business that you want your husband to carry your last name. So quite naturally when these princesses marry a commoner they automatically lose titles by design. It is not up to them.
    And you guys didn’t get it right. These princesses get special upbringing from the young age as they are assumed they would become “commoners”. In reality they don’t become real commoners there would be protections around them and there’s is zero chance they would be homeless or go bankrupted or anything like that. But they do lose titles officially that’s all. They still visit their emperor dad or empress mom, their royal family relatives and they’re not really commoners in reality.
    Btw, that empress Michiko you described her as “too low class”…she is NOT at all considered as low class. She comes from the richest family of Japan. Her father owned Showa Flour corporation one of the richest man in Japan at the time. She was very tall, considered strikingly beautiful and came from a very rich family. She didn’t really need to marry the prince as she suffered after marrying him due to so much pressure but she came from one of the richest family in Japan. Hardly a low class.
    If you’re going to introduce imperial family of Japan, please do more homework and introduce facts, as you got many things wrong here.

      This is not about marrying a commoner and NO JAPANESE PRINCESSES EVER GIVE UP HER IMPERIAL TITLE in order to marry a commoner. When you give someone NO CHOICE, then that is not a choice so no choice is not a choice......SO stop with your freaking nonsense as if these Japaneses princesses have tons of royal men or aristocrat men to marry instead they have chosen to marry a commoner. Unlike other royal houses around the world, the Japanese royal house is as MISOGYNISTIC as it can get, even in the Arab royal houses women aren't treated as such since in the Arab royal houses although women can not become rulers but when they marry their commoner husbands they don't get to be ostracized like in the Japanese royal house. Lastly, the Japanese royal houses have not been married among themselves for many generations so stop the freaking breeding bullshit excuse. Anyone can marry their third cousins. It is one's first cousin that is too close to have children with for genetic problems......SO STOP THIS FREAKING JAPANESE PRINCESSES CHOOSE TO LEAVE THE ROYAL HOUSE BY MARRYING COMMONERS........If a freaking Japanese prince can marry a commoner and still maintain his position as a prince so can a Japanese Princess SO STOP YOUR ANTI-WOMEN excuse for the sake of freaking tradition.......These small dicked Japanese men are just plain old misogynistic bastards

      Yup. That's right. And just my opinion, Japanese princesses meet difficulties to look for aristocratic men to marry in Japan because there may be few aristocratic men in Japan now. If they want to marry they look for commoners (or stay single forever if they can't find aristocratic men) except they marry foreign princes, such as Thai prince, they can keep their status. Even they marry commoners they are still the Emperor daughter and have some special privileges as the emperor daughter. It's impossible
      they were blacklisted from the royal family just because they married a commoner. CMIIW.

After their move, I was invited to their new home, a simple and yet lovely home, the entire family very down to earth and lovely people and what a blessing I was ignorant that entire year.

    The rule is that women who marry commoners must leave the Imperial Family. This is to prevent a takeover by a man of a different lineage coming from outside, as the Emperor is in principle a male-only position. For a woman to remain in the Imperial Family, existing rules require her to marry a male relative of the Imperial Family.

    I find it sad that in the Japanese Royal Family, the Princess’s don’t have any chance to ascend to the Throne. This needs to be changed.
    The British Royal Family doesn’t do that.
    The Japanese need to update the rules that were put in place 100’s of years ago.
    A Princess ought not lose her Royal status because of marrying a commoner. The British Royal Family Princesses do not lose their royal titles or status.

    • @bmona7550
      @bmona7550 Год назад +1

      The rule of royal women losing titles if they marry a commoner was done fairly recent actually, only after WWII I think. That rule is the reason why there isn't a huge amount of aristocratic families in Japan. Aristocratic families with only daughters lost their titles and over time the amount of elegible aristocratic bachelors royal family princesses can marry dwindled. Japanese royal princesses are not even expected to stay a royal forever since decades ago. They can only keep the title if they marry a foreign prince or a male foreign/Japanese aristocrat (not many many exist now).

    The imperial family of Japan consists of only male family members. Therefore it was a traditional practice for female side of the family to marry out of the imperial households making the case of the princess nothing new. What’s different was that the princess’s husband, Mr. Kuroda was a public servant, unlike previous princesses families that were quite clearly high end upper class, but they all had to give up title and imperial lifestyle all the same, though previous princesses enjoyed civilian upper class lifestyles that are close to imperial lifestyles if not more luxurious.

      I’m a local Japanese living in Japan. There’s no such age limit like the age of 30. Where did you get the idea? No such thing.
      When a female princess in the imperial household marries anyone she automatically becomes a commoner. This is a tradition. Yet it’s not a regular commoner. She got nearly $1 million equivalent in Japanese yen just to start. They also don’t lead a regular commoners life obviously. Title is gone officially but they’re not like a commoner. It’s impossible they would live on a street or get bankrupted or go bankrupted or something crazy like that. Not every commoner can marry a princess either. But that 22 year old you mentioned is an outcasted one equivalent to Meghan Markel, absolutely despised as she was extremely disrespectful to our tradition that her father the current’s emperor’s brother didn’t even call her husbands by his name when they both gave an interview for good reasons. She picked a guy who is a half criminal who failed on bar exams multiple times. All around not great guy, stole money from someone and disputed in courts for money. The Japanese public was quite ticked off of her wrong choice of husbands so much so that her father the Prince said no wedding for this princess. So she wasn’t allowed to have public wedding and so far she’s the only one who didn’t have any wedding ceremony as a princess. They’re forced out. And no Japanese in Japan likes this idiot half criminal guy who married this former princess.

      @@KittenBowl1I also live in Japan. Komuro san is not that bad. In fact, he is not bad at all. He is not a criminal and you are overblowing it. He is a victim of the mean gossip press who love to vilify some people to sell newspaper and get more TV views. Not everyone passes the bar exam on the first try. Also much fewer pass the bar exam in Japan, isn’t it just 5% or 10%. Some never pass even after trying again and again.
      Also, he was a minor when his mother borrowed all that money for the boy’s education. He had no say in it. I agree, when the issue came up, he should have said immediately that he would pay it back as soon as he got a job. Which he is doing now. Former Princess Mako married for love not tradition. Also, I think all the adults in this story, Komuro’s mother, the man who lent the money and some of the Royal family used the press to make a scandal. Partly in an effort to force Mako san to give up her love for Komuro san. I for one am glad she held out for her choice.
      Princess Nori was paired with a friend of her brother’s so it was an arranged marriage. Not a love marriage where both people fall in love. I have a feeling she didn’t really want to get married as she just kept working at the job she had. Well, she is married and seems happy.

    This program shovels out a fair amount of falsehood and misinformation. On the plus side, it is not full of malicious rumors and innuendo.
    As a young girl, Sayako was not living 'a life of luxury - attended by dozens of servants - who catered to her every whim.' The material circumstances of the Japanese royal family are more like an upper middle class American doctor - not poor, by any means - but not dripping in millions of dollars of jewelry, rolling through town in Rolls Royces or Bentleys, flying in private jets and helicopters. For that, see the British or the royal houses of Europe.
    When Crown Prince Akihito met Michiko, she was not a 'simple girl, low class.' She was the daughter of a wealthy industrialist. When Sayako met her husband, he was not 'an ordinary clerk.' He was a university grad and a bureaucrat within Tokyo city government. His salary may have been 'modest' - but he has been there for quite a while now, supervising contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars. My guess is that his salary is not so modest, these days.
    What's different for Japanese royals is that they live very circumscribed lives, with many public duties and engagements - all dictated by the Imperial Household Agency. It actually adds up to a lot of work. I do believe they will eventually succumb to reality and common sense - and open the throne to women.

    She married a commoner. What is wrong with that?
    We are all commoner, what is wrong with that? I’m proud to be a commoner.
    She has no future as a royalty. She will never become a queen unless she marries a king or an emperor, which will never happen. What else does she need to do? She wants to live a normal life like the rest of us.
    And for the record, her husband who is a commoner, is not poor either.

    I find it difficult and stupid being royalty in my culture is a birthright that cant be taken away one should be allowed to marry whomever they want to if a monarch your personal life unless it affects others and violates public trust of people should be allowed and aristocracy should be redefined or abolished this is mysoginistic out of date practice her wealth and status should have been hers to keep as long as duties are fulfilled

    They should just scrap the men-only preference in the imperial family, their numbers are already dwindling and the lack of a pool of male heirs can be a future problem for them anyway.

    Why have a royal family if they are not going to be royal and help the poor? Nori is lucky her story turned out ok and she did not have children to suffer because of her choice. She was not in line for the thone anyway. I believe if you have a job to do you should do it.

    Most countries have a class system. Rich, middle class, poor, aristocrat, peasant and so on. Japan used to have a noble ruling class. I think they were called Samurai? Japan has rich people, but is there a nobility or aristocracy in Japan today?

    • @KittenBowl1
      @KittenBowl1 Год назад +4

      Samurai isn’t a ruling class. Please learn more about Japanese history. Japan is an oldest country in the world. (Look it up what it means if you don’t know what it actually means).
      Samurai is a Japanese word from feudal eras and it means warriors (military men of feudal times) and it does not mean a ruling class.
      There are royal families that carry bloodlines of royals in Japan still but they’re purely monumental figures that represent Japan. They work for Japanese people and they have zero power in parliament. In other words they are not allowed to legally influence or anyway run Japanese politics. As Japan is no longer a dictatorship run by imperial family like of 100 years ago, like UK and some European countries run by kings and queens, Japan is not of aristocracy. Unlike Britain, Japanese royal family is funded by 100% tax of Japanese citizens but purely a monumental figure like I mentioned.

    The Japanese imperial family is as human as we are . Not heaven descend ! Why must she be punished for choosing a commoner? Marrying another royal offspring . It is boring and might caused too much inbreeding.

    • @clerieginus
      @clerieginus Год назад +1

      She isn't punished. The household law was passed by parliament, and that is to size down the members of the Imperial family. Since they have an agnatic primogeniture, it doesn't make any sense to keep the females in it when they get married. It's not like she was disowned or anything. She is still family, and was sent off with a pension.
