Sir! The Borg are attacking! Hmm, Number One, remember that planet with the ridiculously effective defense system? I think it's time to make a purchase.
"It's a good ship" gets all the praise (rightfully so), but I also love the deadly serious delivery of the silly line "What's the armament on the Lollipop". It makes me smile every time.
"It's just been commissioned. It's a good shop." Is such a great line because he said it just for himself. Data won't get it, Yar's not from Earth, and the other guys already been found out to not be human. I do this sometimes as a teacher. The jokes are for me!
It’s possible Data gets it. Not in a humorous way but he might have been able to reference the line depending on how much information he has on entertainment from that era
This scene is actually incredibly well done...you know right from the off that something just isn't quite "right", I found it very freaky the first time I saw it and could actually understand what was going on...;)
I think the next Star Trek TV series should center on the adventures of the USS Lollipop: It's 5 year mission, to explore new flavors, new candy, and to go where no sweet tooth has gone before. Helm, set a course for the chocolate nebula. Yes sir, Captain Crunch.
Captain Rice's mother must have some SERIOUS pull at Starfleet Command if she can divert the Federation's Flagship to go look for her son, that's a mind blown moment right there!!!
CorvusOfMellori I didn’t catch the joke when I first saw this episode. I read a book that had details about each episode and it mentioned this part. LOL! (Insert rim shot)
Data: "I heard somebody in the turbo lift recite somthing, I am not sure that I understand it.. 'There once was a young man from Venus.. who's body was shaped like a..'" Picard: "Captain to Security"..
It really makes you wonder how long you could string this thing along. Feed it tiny bits of seemingly meaningful information, properly laid out, until it's wearing a tutu and spinning around to the tune of Death Metal and requesting permission to access the dragon Pez dispenser that holds all of the access codes.
Damn, wish Riker had answered "Paul's" questions, especially when "Paul" asked about the "USS Lollipop" size and compliment. Riker could've made up what class starship the "Lollipop" is and then we could pretend it was a real starship. "Space: The final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Lollipop. It's ongoing mission: to sell CANDY.... to new civilisations."
"It's a good ship."
What a legend.
Oh shit....I didnt even notice.....hahahahaaaa
I know it's supposed to be a serious scene, but Riker's answers made me laugh so hard

Welcome to the basic rule of any serial show, stand alone gimmicks and plot devices go poof.
You really want the Borg getting their hands on that thing?
The USS Lollipop, commanded by Captain Shirley Temple, the youngest Starfleet captain ever.
Still better than Discovery 😏
Those damned time warps
The Lollipop was the finest ship in the fleet
Does she like lollipops? Cuz it can't be called USS Lollipop without serving actual lollipops on board, real or replicated🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭🤣
@@AndrewChapmanYou. Lollipop. Shirley Temple. Bing. Now.

"Who sent you here to look for me?"
"Your mother"
OOF, burrrrrn

it's got some _sweet_ weapons
Even before growing the beard, Riker was formidable.
Now I'm thinking of naming my Star Trek Online ship the U.S.S. Lollipop.
few 100 of them already but enjoy

Who sent you? Yo momma!
Cue glasses and blunt dropping from the sky
Paul's actor does the best deadpan stare I have ever witnessed.
If anyone cares, the rated compliment of the Lollipop Class is two crew members and 14 passengers plus one stowaway, no armaments.

ViscountStratton LOL!
Would be better then a lot of current Star Trek stuff.
I'm not sure there's ever been another time when a "yo momma" joke has been made on Star Trek.
Thank you SO much for posting this.
I was describing this scene to my husband and how I cracked up every time I saw it.
“It’s a good ship.” Ha!
i wonder how many takes it took for everyone to keep a straight face on this scene hahahahahaha
Katie Smith Yeah, no kidding!
Captain Rice's mother must have some SERIOUS pull at Starfleet Command if she can divert the Federation's Flagship to go look for her son, that's a mind blown moment right there!!!
LOL
Well she didn't the flagship, only Lollipop
"No... The name of my ship is... thee... Lollipop. It's just been commissioned... It's a good ship!!" OMG I LOL'D SO HARD!!

Pure gold ha ha god this was one of my fav NG memories (of many)
This the most Star Trek the Original Generation episode of TNG ever
My mom said she's watching a Shirley Temple movie so I sent this clip to her. Thanks for posting it.
This is quite possibly the most hilarious scene from TNG. Either this or Worf and his prune juice; "A warrior's drink."
Excuse me, no. It's clearly "I protest! I am NOT a merry man!"
Data: "I heard somebody in the turbo lift recite somthing, I am not sure that I understand it.. 'There once was a young man from Venus.. who's body was shaped like a..'"
Picard: "Captain to Security"..

This is a fun comment.
"What is the armament on the Lollipop? hahaha
"The Enterprise? No, my ship is the USS Asphinctersayswhat."
"What?"
"It's a good ship."
This is my all time favourite ST line
I wanna be the Capt. of the Lollipop

mark: who sent you here?
riker: your mother. she was worried about you. also.........she snores in her sleep.
It’s a good ship
Very interesting
Something about SEasons 1 and 2 was incredibly unnerving. Say what you will about the writing, the direction of those seasons was top notch.
PICARD shuld have really purchased that machine and had it installed on the ENTERPRISE. Geordi could have put it in!!!!
@talltom1973 Data didn't show up on life-sign scans in other episodes when they were trying to find him...
How much more awesome would Mass Effect be if you were Commander Shepard of the SSV Lollipop?
Riker: Yo Mama
on the good ship Lollipop its a good ship that sinks a lot :)
LMAO ... Whats the amourment on the lollipop?
WERTY123, Diabetes.
it's a reference to the Shirley Temple song, the good ship lollipop:)
This is what it’s like to use Facebook now.
@GreyFox29 I am the captain of the lollipop on STO lol
The good ship?
_What's the armament on the Lollipop?_
@WERTY123 Three licks.
@talltom1973 Data is an android.
AI vs Speedruner 🤭
You cut out the best part!!
And with AI the way it is now…
Denise’s Crosby’s wide-eyed reaction leads me to believe that Frakes may have pulled this Lollipop out of his ass.
So to speak.
So he's dead?
The lollipop cause it sucks
What a name for a star ship........ It made the rest of the fleet suck. I know it was shit but hey.
The USS Lollipop sucked
