The X-Men bit going on way too long gives me life.
Yeah about half way through i was thinking "GET ON WITH IT!!!!!" A la Monty Python
The x-men bit was immature, silly and a waste of time. I truly hope they keep it going, this channel is brilliant!
@@undefined7141 immature, silly, and a complete waste of time. Like I said it reminded me of Monty Python
I loved the bit. Seems like that whole thing would have taken a long time to write. To me it seemed well developed. It flows and I'm impressed at the magnitude.
"All I know is they're in Danger"
Was dying through the whole bit, and idk why, but that one really did me in
I remember him as the angry Subway car ghost that Patrick Swayze learned to touch things as a ghost from in the movie Ghost
Great actor
Yooooo the x-men bit had me dead
Wow. That's a lot of X-Men.
I liked seeing Jordi in command of the enterprise
He handled the job well.
@@reverseangle I think he's the only person we've seen onscreen to command the Enterprise-D in combat and not have any casualties. At least to my personal knowledge. I've seen a lot of TNG episodes, but I haven't seen ALL of them, though. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
They weren't quite sure what to do with his character yet. He wasn't the chief engineer.
It was later that they decided on Chief Engineer/virgin.
It's Geordi you illiterate ape.
These weapons with proper oversight could have ended the Founders and Jem HaDar possibly dented the Borg.
That was a lot of X-Men lol. I needed that this morning
When Vincent Schiavelli appeared before Picard, I wanted him to walk menacingly toward the captain and say, “Like Trains?!” (Fans of Ghost will understand) lol
Guys? I can't stop watching these reviews!!! For the past 2 weeks, every night as I fall off to sleep, it's these videos that I'm watching! Amazing work, completely engaging content! I love it! And THANK YOU!!!
Well done guys....on the X-men references....👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Holy shit that X-Men gag was legendary.
The X-men puns had me geeking out because I’m an OG comic book nerd.
Now that was unexpected. And good grief, just how many more Xmen references can you put in and yet it still feels natural and not forced? 🤣😍 you guys rule! 👍
B- episode got me. Great action, Geordi is decent for his first command, the usual plot contrivances don't detract as much as they should. But I agree, not much happens when the veneer of action is removed. could have been better though.
I loved this episode as a kid! I liked the idea of a automatic sales system that demonstrates the weapons it sells until makes a sale, and ends up killing it’s creators in the end!
Just recently discovered your channel and the X-Men references solidified this subscribption
All those X-men on the Geordi episode, but no cyclops. Must've been too obvious
Sure, let's go with that, and not that we totally overlooked it.
@@reverseangle Shades of Jean Grey? I've got nothing. Imma head out and go to Phoenix.
@@reverseangle talk about bad writing....
That mutant bit dragged on too long, it's like you kept throwing puns to their death in some sort of dead pool.
Long X-Men joke starting with Gerodi
Has no Cyclops
I always thought it could be fun to have the crew try to figure out HOW to pay for these drones. What currency did this civilization use? How can you even deliver payment? Picard didn't haggle at all, how badly was he swindled by this hologram?
You could make a whole A-plot of an episode about them trying to solve that problem in humorous ways.
You would think the ferengi would have found out about this place and looted it of all the fancy weapons
This was an episode that should have been done later in the series; like in Season 6 with a two part story. Some of these episodes you guys are dogging, would have probably A plus episodes if they had been made between Seasons 3 and 6. I still think this one and Too Short A Season were great episodes; but they were done in the wrong season. I don’t mean to sound crude, it’s just Too Short of a Season is one of my favorites and I felt a very popular first season episode like DataLore was horrible. I mean Blazing Bev should have been vaporized by that phaser. Angel One is horrible too. Code of Honor is like a bad episode but seeing Geordi shave was gold.
The phasers are definitely very inconsistent, especially in season one.
meh, I can't fault special effects from a show made in 1987 for TV.
You guys are hilarious 💯💯💯
X-Men aka the arsenal of freedom.
Oh man that xmen bit was hilarious!
Geordie getting to command was awesome always loved it
I give this review an S.
No word about Ensign Lian T'Su? The girl from Rambo 2 aka Julie Nickson.
This episode reminded me of the scene from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where the Improbability Drive Starship is approaching the legendary planet of Magrathea, and thus triggers the planet's automatic self-defense arsenal. Vincent Schiavelli as the "Weapons Dealer", makes a very good proxy for Slartibartfast!
"To ensure on-going quality of service, your death may be monitored for training purposes."
Slartibartfast was a fjord designer, not the primary architect of Magrathea.
03:45 When it's stupid, but it works, it's... comedy gold! 🤣
goddamit. i held out. and then i got to the x-men... subscribed. then unsubscribed. then subscribed.
0:29 "I am a professor of forensic medicine. Believe me, Captain Picard, I could shoot you from Stuttgart und still create ze proper effect."
0:27 Schiavelli? Just Batman? Also, cuckoo’s nest, ghost, tomorrow never dies.. a literal legend.
I think you were unfair with this one. This is one of the very few episodes in Season 1 where all the regulars have a moment to shine-save Wesley. Your support for Geordi outfoxing the weapon does not go far enough, IMHO-and LeVar Burton's acting talent is on display masterfully here. And it's an interesting moment to see just what the crew were up against on Minos. I think you let your snark and X-Men overshadow the merits of the review just a bit.
The flagship of Starfleet has just a lieutenant as the chief engineer? I'm sure somebody with more experience than Lieutenant Logan could have been found.
At the end, Geordi orders the shields down in the atmosphere which was protecting them. They would have burned up.
Good point.
Also, every time I watch this episode, when Geordi tells chief engineer Logan that he’s in charge until relieved by Captain Picard, or commander Riker. I always shout “or Data!”
Epic comic aside. :)
It always bugged me that the one attacking the enterprise was the same shape, making us think it could be the same size.
Going into battle without your chief engineer is stupid.
0:32 also that guy on the train from Ghost.
"my train"
I guess that X-man part was a real "Deadpool"
Missed opportunity to use apocalypse in the x men bit lol
Vincent Schiavelli is the piss*d off poltergeist in ghost
I laughed so hard with the X-Men puns.
That’s so cool that you included Morph! :). Great review.

Controversial Comment
I like how on this episode they say multiple times theres no intelligent life but you can hear all the birds chirping, crickets, and all the sounds of nature.
Intelligent like homosapien level or higher
Anything that a lizard eats is probably not intelligent. Just don't ask how the lizard can catch the bird with its forked tongue...
Bravo you sons of b I was a lot of mutants that you just named
X-Men.
I was really marveling at that bit
Get off my train!!!
*APPLAUDS* the mutant list
3:44 to 5:21
😂
X-MEN puns
" GET OFF MY TRAIN ! "
Guys Guys guuuuuuuuys! Lol
You have to C it to believe it.
These two narrator's speak like they could write and create a far better Version of Star Trek in every episode they criticise everything. Then why aren't you two the ones writing and casting the show if you can do such a better job?. Because you cant you're just nerds
They weren't born into a rich hollywood aristocratic family who give the writing jobs to their relatives.
Also TNG fired one of the writers that got Tasha Yar fired so I bet that writer was pretty bad. Not hard to top incompetence.
It is much easier to criticize someone else’s work than to posit or create your own. That being said this is the whole point of their channel to provide critical reviews.
@@martuni1539 it's very easy to criticize HOLLYWOOD"S work since their nepotism/patronage leads to rampant incompetence in their highly paid industry.
Loved the X-men bit :)
X-Men, nice!
Brilliant lol
...Sugar Man
Tascha looking good though
'The Guy' also played the Twisted Mentat of House Harkonnen in the old Emperor: Battle For Dune - Game.
So good
I was waiting for any comment on "the lollipop"!
4:20 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAND on to the next video....
..come on guys.
when I saw the vincent guy, I thought he was Jon Lovits. lol
dangit where's the part where data yeets yar into some bushes
