Ok Jeremy, you're a smart guy and all but raw water in aluminum engines is not a good idea. Raw water will immediately start to corrode aluminum. Add the proper coolant and you will have far fewer issues.
@Ada 1812 Dealing with haters in an improbable scenario is better than having to do an engine teardown and replace moving parts. The real answer to the problem you presented is not coolant, it's people not replacing 20 year old rad hoses in a rebuild.
He blamed himself too lol got to have coolant when you're in Pennsylvania in freezing weather I've had cars come into the shop with cracks in the block by where the freeze plugs were from water only in winter climates.. a cheap $10 a gallon of coolant could save people thousands and a lot of the times people from warmer climates don't think about that when they go where it's cold
Gaaally, haven't heard freeze plugs in 40 years, core plugs for core holes where the casting sand is dumped out. I have a question, can your drag car, that is anybodies drag car,run 10 miles at 7800 rpm, stop make u-turn go back 10 miles at same speed@130 mph and not blow up the motor?
They are freeze plugs to save your block from splitting after you forgot to drain the water from your engine for winter storage. Tracks don't allow antifreeze. Drag cars are built for drag racing not 24 hours of Le mans.
Funny?I had a block freeze it popped out all the core plugs and collapsed 2 cylinders, there's a core hole behind the camshaft, that plug I screwed to the block after using red loctite, the core plugs were removed and threaded for pipe plugs. I understand, but don't crash your car or blow up the motor, this would take too long to explain, but there are other things you can put in your radiator to protect aluminum
Guys, antifreeze/coolant isn't just for cold weather. It's called coolant for a reason. It raises the boiling point of water. Another thing, it prevents rust. And it seems like everyone there uses the hose to add water. That's literally introducing rust into the cooling system. You need distilled water. Hey, I'm down in Miami. Nothing but a short drive if y'all need a shop manager. I'm willing to relocate. 😉
If you're referring to cleetus blowing them up on stock 5.3 internals with almost 1000hp then you're an absolute dumbass... You can't blame that on the tuner.

It appears the rings were the only thing holding it together.😜 Good move with putting a set of Wiseco slugs in it, and some strong rods. Cheap insurance in the long run! Nice job you guys!🙂 BTW, I know it's Florida, but get some 50/50 coolant in that intercooler tank once you're *sure* it's not leaking. Not only will it prevent freezing of the cooler blocks, but it will keep the electrolysis and other nasties in the water from eating through the thinner tubes in the block(s).😉 I used to live down there, so I *know* what the water is like. Nice work Jeremy, and kudos to your better half for putting up with the frequent showers from the Porkapotamus!🤣👍👍
You are definitely going to owe the wife a night out with a very nice dinner.
He put a new engine thats built better, will be more reliable, and make more power. I think he's already fixed the situation. But dinner is always a bonus. She new she was gonna get his better engine if something was wrong. Probably hoping for it actually lol. MORE POWWA!!
Great video Jeremy... love it when I can learn a few new things .
I've never seen someone blow up so many engines in seemingly a short period of time
It's because they are trying new things and pushing the engines harder than they were ever designed. Also, Jeremy and Cleetus both show all their wins AND loses, where a lot of other people just show their wins and don't mention the times they screw up and grenade motors.
You know it's a real racecar because it's always broken. And these guys build a lot of racecars.
@@billkerksiek208 Except his wife's Escalade isn't a racecar lol
@@JLewis1979 They're not doing anything that other people aren't doing lol
@@AgiDaKinG who else is out their snatching the wheels in their wife's Cadillac?
You can also have flash steam issues if running 100% water, which will do the same thing. I always run about 20% coolant.
I'm a simple man. I see a doggo, I like the video.
Jeremy gets a text...."don't come home until it's fixed, there's nothing for you here until then" lol....love the content and love that you took it from tear down to back running in one vid. Very satisfying.
What are you talking about? His wife was doing the filming! She is as much "hot rod" as he is.
@@paulcopeland9035 #1 it was a joke. Because she has been telling him about condensation in the exhaust and not to mention the oil consumption problem they seemed to go ignored until this point. #2 she's holding the camera so he can get in there and fix what she already said was broken. I'm sure she is cool about it. Which is why it was a joke. But she wasn't there filming until 3 am was she?
SURPRISE SURPRISE.
Who warned you about the coolant?
I see stock 2.0 and 1.5 gm turbo engines break ring lands exactly the same way. Detonation/extreme cylinder pressure hammer the ring lands, gm changed the calibrations to help them live
Been around cleetus too much lmao
You had a freaking butane torch right there, THAT is how you defeat red lock tight, as well as blue lol. Heat it and it turns to liquid pretty quick!
Ok Jeremy, you're a smart guy and all but raw water in aluminum engines is not a good idea. Raw water will immediately start to corrode aluminum. Add the proper coolant and you will have far fewer issues.
Lomax 321 I don’t know about that statement, because then aluminum couldn’t be used to make boats
@@theshadetreewelder3523 Your boats run in 200 degree water? Global warming?
vidznstuff1 ok what about the fact that aluminum is used to make crawfish(also known as crayfish) boiling pots
@@theshadetreewelder3523 There are no dissimilar metals to cause corrosion in your boiling pot.
@Ada 1812 Dealing with haters in an improbable scenario is better than having to do an engine teardown and replace moving parts. The real answer to the problem you presented is not coolant, it's people not replacing 20 year old rad hoses in a rebuild.
Laz is the man. He clearly knows his job at around engines. Cool guy
Notification squad sound off
D: You done Killt it. Hope it wasn't too expensive to fix. Your guys at the shop are hella dedicated, you must pay them well XD
Blame the tuner.
The drag strips frown on anti freeze in the cars at the track.
Sorry to say but every car yu tune blow up what that tell yu.. Ur a kool person doe
Martise Washington You’re so fucking stupid it hurts
If you're referring to cleetus blowing them up on stock 5.3 internals with almost 1000hp then you're an absolute dumbass... You can't blame that on the tuner.
It tells you he is pushing the limits not just sitting behind a keyboard moaning
Martise Washington learn how to spell before criticising someone’s expertise yah muppet
This dude doesn't have any idea...
You made a lovely job of that alright. Am familiar with all nighters too ! Great to see Leroy in the background with a gap between the parachute box thingy and the roll cage. Oh boy ..... Leroy ..... come to us you lovely ! :)
Those exhaust ports are huge...well at least compared to what I have seen with my eyes...not on video. I am amazed are all the LS motors like that
Jerremy did you do a cleetus. And run no coolent. 😆 trough you might be up for a full rebuild. Lucky it was all good. 😉👍👍
Complete L86 engines are currently selling for around $6k... used. We've got one in the shop right now with a grenaded lifter. Also careful with those A/C lines, it's R1234YF.
Always run some antifreeze coolant in it, it helps prevents implosion as well as freezing. and gives better heat transfer.
...and James just threw food in Jeremy’s mouth with hands that look saucy... excellent 😂
Haha, mini Enticer! Gonna be a good day, just gonna send it!
Don't stop wiggling it keep going almost alright it's in lol 😂 hilarious I love these kids
Those L86s are always a pain to break apart from the 8L90. It's like the bellhousing welds itself to the alignment dowels.
I got a 14 gmc sierra, could only imagine what 675 hp to the wheels would feel like. Good video!
A proper antifreeze/water mix isn't just to protect from freezing. It also raises the boiling point and provides corrosion protection.
Nice video, yall have good chemistry. Good thing getting mini involved. So what is this the night crew? I see cletus lighting mcqueen's vet over there? Anyway good video.
God bless! There needs to be more of this! Great job! Love the videos!! And GOD BLESS ✝
Pretty sick build man! I'd love to do something like this with my QX80. But its certainly not as easy since its not LS powered :/
Before you tore down the motor in the video I was actually thinking you should replace/upgrade the pistons, rings, rods, valves, lifters, con-rods, and maybe cam (if not satisfied), and get a newer blower/supercharger... one that won't shred itself and send shrapnel through the engine. Oh and of course some nice two-tone black and polished light-weight aluminum rims and exhaust tip. You may not, for a while, have any future issues.
Exactly the same thing happened to my stock pistons when I bolted the supercharger on my truck.
Sweet ride i really never understood superchargers seem like turbo even in oem is the way to go good Exodus valves n good alloy heads n it`s a wrap A //?
