You are an absolute lifesaver! Dogs knocked the roller off it's hinges and I couldn't figure out how to put it back together! You saved me from so much stress! And your voice is so calming! Thank you a million times!
Wow! I would have never thought a dog incident would lead someone to this video! Thank you so much for watching! So glad I could be of help!
This is an excellent video. Your descriptions and demonstrations are clear, concise and excellent. Thanks for making the video!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope the video is useful to you!
Thank you! We only needed help with the tension on the screen door retraction and you addressed that perfectly! We even called the Pella Service people from where we purchased our door and they wanted to sell us a whole new 'tension kit'. All they had to tell us was to insert a screwdriver and turn for more tension!
I'm so glad this video helped you solve your problem without having to buy a brand new tension kit! Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic video! You saved me so much frustration trying to repair my screen that had come off the top track piece. Thank you
Glad the video was helpful!
Thank you for such an amazing video in clear and simple language. Please continue to make more helpful videos.
Thank you so much. I certainly will!
A dog incident also led me to your excellently presented video. I have the same Pella Rolscreen. Fido went through the bottom section of the screen. I'd like to try and repair it as the Rolscreen is unavailable through Pella. Can you tell me how you would remove the screen cover without damaging any of the plastic hardware that holds it in place so that I can remove the Rolscreen. Thank you so much for the video!
Same here ....
Thank you for a great easy to follow video! I followed it step by step to a successful installation on my Pella door.
Yay! I'm glad this was helpful to you. Our Pella screen sat in the basement for literally years because the instructions were so difficult to figure out.
Awesome video, thank you! I was able to repair the broken door in my new house quickly thanks to your detailed camera work and descriptions. Much appreciated.
Great to hear!
I was looking for a video juat like this to help replace mine right now! Thanks!
Excellent video. I have the same door but mine lacks the "spring tightener" plate you show at the bottom. This past week the screen will no longer allow screen to be retracted back into the roller. There's no "pull" to retract anymore. Not sure if it means new roller screen, maybe I can install the tightener plate.
this is so helpful!!!! Perfect instructions and encouraging. thank you
Thanks for the kind words!
Great video and instructions. Thank you very much
Thank you so much! I'm glad it was helpful!
Thank you Stan you saved me a lot of money
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful!
Hi. This is a great video. I already have this door and screen (installed prior to my buying the house). My dog tried to run through the screen and now the screen is too loose. Is it possible to remove the screen cover without breaking it, so I can retighten the screen? I've tried to get it off, but have hesitated to apply too much pressure for fear of breaking it.
I had a kid run through mine and have the same question. Did you ever get an answer?
@@BA-gq4uw No answer received here, but someone fixed mine for me by pulling hard on the screen and it snapped back like an old style window shade.
@@BA-gq4uw I just had a bird slam mine and it is very loose. Trying to get it to retract. I don't want to break the cover. EEEEEEEk!
The clips that hold the screen cover on are pretty fragile, so caution is key. I had to remove my screen cover once to retighten the screen, and did so by twisting the cover off in a counterclockwise fashion. Happily, nothing broke!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
What a great video. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for watching!
Great job. Very instructive.
Nice and easy, when someone else does it! ;) Well done!
Thanks! 🙂
Great Video! Thanks!
My rolscreen sticks a little on the bottom track. The top track slides closed faster and sometimes the top and bottom get out of whack. I applied A-luma-lub thinking it would help with sticking. I also cleaned the track. The tension seems to be a little tight as when the screen is latched there is not a tight connection between the rail and screen and insects can come in. Any help on adjusting after installation?
Unfortunately the tensioner is not off to the side on the older versions.
That's what I have
I'm looking for a replacement and cant get the cover off without fear of breaking it.
It's tricky, and the plastic snap-on supports aren't exactly very sturdy.
Good install video, but this example is a non-standard because this slider is an XO installed in reverse (interior). Most sliders would be installed with operating panel on the inside of your home and therefore rollscreen would attach on the exterior of door where the fixed panel is.
Per Pella's instructions, their screen installs on the inside of the door either way.
Pella's Lifestyle series wood SGDs by design ,have the operative panel outboard from the fixed panel, ergo the reason why the rolscreen is on the inside.
I’m having a hard time removing the screen cover in order to adjust / fix the screen tension. Any suggestions?
The plastic clips that hold the screen cover on are pretty fragile, so being careful is key. I had to remove my screen cover once to adjust the screen tension, and did so by twisting the cover off in a counterclockwise fashion. (If your screen slides from the right, then you'll probably have to go clockwise with it.) It's a bit tricky. Happily, nothing broke!
Where can you purchase this Pella Sliding Door Rolscreen Kit? Also, what is the part number?
You will need to visit a Pella showroom or have a Pella sales agent come to your home. You can learn more on their website.
Can you tell me where I can buy the head and seal tracking parts for the retractable screen? Mine broke and I am trying to replace it. Thank you
You can try Pella at www.pella.com/shop/parts/ eBay or any number of other online stores that sell Pella and other window and door parts.
Where could I purchase this dampener? I seem to have lost mine and cannot find this piece anywhere. Would it be called something else? Thank you!
You will need to call Pella, visit a Pella showroom, or order from the company website. Lowe's also stocks some Pella products.
Can you tell me where you can order a screen door for my paella sliding patio door?
We bought a new house that has (2) paella patio doors with no screens.
You can order them directly from Pella or through Lowe's. You might find other retailers who stock Pella as well.
Is it normal to have the screen on the inside of the door? I’ve been thinking our door is installed incorrectly but it has a track with no screen on it al all
This particular brand of screen is installed on the inside of the door. One drawback to that is you have to shut the screen first before closing the sliding door. If you shut the screen in the evening, all the bugs that have gathered on the screen will come indoors before you can close the sliding door!
I actually like the screen on the inside as it stays much cleaner. Before I shut the slider I look for bugs on my screen and flick them off through the screen with my finger. I kind of get a kick out of doing it. LOL
@@doityourselfstan Yes, bugs on the screen at night is an annoying feature of this design.
On minute 12:00 how would you remove the screen cover? Do you just pull on it?
I had to remove mine once. Basically, I just gave it a slight clockwise twist as I pulled on it. It snaps on, and it snaps off. If your screen is on the right side, you'd probably have to give it a slight counter-clockwise twist when you pull on it. You'll need to be a little bit careful not to break plastic parts!
@@doityourselfstan I too am trying to remove the screen cover. A bird slammed into the screen and totally unrolled it. I need to roll it back in but am having difficulty removing the cover. Lady DIYer here. Any helpful recommendations would be appreciated, this video is great. Thanks
i like it
Do you know where I can find a replacement 'sill plug'? I've been searching Pella and other parts stores and have been having difficulty tracking one down.
Same here. Please share if you manage to find both the head plug and sill plug..
I hope I don't have to replace my screen I have a different set up than you and it will be a bear. I had a tornado break the glass in the stationary panel of the sliding door unit . These panels are not replaceable like the slider as they are built in. It cost me well over $1,000 just to have the glass replaced but it was a much easier fix then replacing the entire unit.
Could you go any slower
pella roll screens are no good. nothing but problems and not safe if you have pets. once a pet figures out he can simple stick his nose under the screen and walk out you cant keep them in.
Shhhh! Don't mention that to our 14-year-old cat!
This is not a sliding screen
You are right. It's a rolling screen, but Pella calls it a "sliding patio door screen."
@@doityourselfstan having worked for the company for many years, I have to disagree, at least with the clarity of your title. It is indeed a screen for a sliding patio door, but Pella has 2 screens for sliding patio doors: Sliding Screens and Pella Rolscreens. That might be a helpful edit to make. Thanks!
I stand corrected. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention!
