okay the first 15 minutes are everything! thankyou both so much for being so open about that! i think a lot of people nowadays have the mentality that body positivity/ self love and being open about insecurities can’t exist simultaneously, and i could not disagree more. they go hand in hand, and i thank you both so much for talking about this. it’s so important! i love you ☺️

People should not be telling you that "You have a responsibility to talk about x,y,z"! You address things here because they're important to you. We appreciate your transparency and that you choose to address these things, but please don't ever feel pressure to talk about things that might not be the best for your mind. Also I love your hair when it's curly Jeri! I know it's hard to take compliments on things you feel insecure about, but I hope you're feeling better.

I have struggled with my body insecurities since I was nine years old and since I’ve turned 25 I’ve really worked on just loving the body I am in. The crazy part is one second I’ll be so proud of myself for how far I’ve come and a half hour later I’m in tears cause I binged 3 magnum ice cream duos (if you know you know) I too take pictures of myself crying cause I hope that in a couple years my google photos will remind me of those photos and I hope to be farther than I am now. Thank you for being real about your low moments. You two being people that I look towards for confidence it’s supporting and such a relief to know you guys struggle too, so when I struggle I know everybody does. I love you guys and I think both of you are so so gorgeous and I know it’s hard to except that from others but I really love you guys ❤️

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing how you’ve been feeling. My neighbor, her bestfriend, and myself have all been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and all 3 of us have been feeling super down and depressed and not like ourselves lately. (On top of already feeling that way I’m in between meds and on my period 🙃) so it’s been a roller coaster over here. I also workout everyday and have gained almost all the weight I lost back because I backslide on binge eating and eating junk and I’m sick of looking at my face because of all my acne scars but also can’t stop picking at it. It’s a never ending journey. There’s definitely some sort of energy shift right now… hoping you both feel better and feel comfortable in your own skin again💛

Also the realness from you guys and the honesty about the ups and downs is actually quite refreshing because so many people of influence really dont show these aspects, which is why you guys are my favourite people to listen to and pretty much all I watch or listen to these days. People need to hear these things to be able to give themselves a break when it comes to having the same personal experiences and not beat themselves up so much in the lows which actually helps the lows to pass sooner. I spent years beating myself up for my lows and as soon as I started giving myself permission to feel, I found it way easier to bounce back and also that I would bounce back quicker since I wasnt being so harsh on myself

Pogs!!! Flat, round, laminated cardboard with pictures on them that you would stack then hit with a slightly bigger plastic pog. Whichever ones fell off the stack, you got to keep so it eventually got banned at my elementary school since is was considered gambling. I love you ladies so much! I listen then relisten every week. Thank you for all of your hard work!!!

  • @cristgoll

Pogs were cardboard circles that you stack. Then you would take turns dropping a heavier circle piece to try to flip the pieces. You got to keep the face up pogs. I’m 32 and I was young when it was popular.

    • @ashleighboyke
      @ashleighboyke 2 года назад +2

Exactly! The bigger pogs were called Slammers. Pogs had an odd smell that I still weirdly, vividly remember. Almost like they had been kept in Grandmas spice cabinet lol. They were the popular game right before Pokemon came out and became popular. Before Pokemon, games like Pog and Magic were pretty common. Im 36

I'm realizing part of integrating your whole self together is honestly feeling the steps back and the steps forward, not resisting a low point in something that you considered positive growth. It took me decades to nail all these layers up around my self worth, it's not going to be an instant clear path to body neutrality or pure self love. The low points are inevitable at this point, but if I resist them they feel like they're going to be permanent, like all my progress will backslide to where I started. And I assume that resisting those feelings is going to be like putting on the brakes, but it's really not. Resisting the hurt, self-consciousness, negative self talk, keeping it tight and muffled, is only delaying the inevitable and making it so I can't honestly process it around other people. At this point I don't even know yet what it would look like to accept the low right away rather than tensing up and bracing for it, but I can feel myself getting closer and closer every time. And I know it involves airing that hurt with others. So you're doing great and thank you for talking about it! Your struggle of questioning whether or not other people will be disappointed or hurt by it is also part of that healing because it's your insecurity trying to separate you and confirm that you should keep it quiet and only show the "worthy" parts of yourself. I've gotten stuck in the trap of "healing is my goal, so I must be focused on what the healed part of my self should think and only present that" but I guess you really can't force it. Processing the hard parts is where the gold is.

Thank you for the discussion at the beginning. As someone who is on the body neutrality journey…there are ups and downs. Some days I feel like I’m a queen, and some days I feel like I just crawled out of a swamp. That’s just kind of how it goes. I appreciate you both being vulnerable because it’s nice to know that we all have days that we feel uncomfortable in our bodies. I think with society as it is, it would be unrealistic (and fake) to claim otherwise. Thank you for being real. 💙

Thank you so much for talking about how you feel about your bodies. I think that so many of us feel this way every day or every couple of days, and it's important to discuss and acknowledge this. This validated everything I have not been able to put into words. You ladies are so helpful to my mental health and make me feel like I am never alone (: On another note, there is a book called In the Flo by Alisa Vitti and it talks about the connection between your menstrual cycle and the infradian rhythm (28-day cycle) that women follow as opposed to the circadian rhythm that men have. I think that this cycle directly correlates to the way that women or women feel about their bodies. This way of living can also help those who are women presenting to help connect them to their inner feminine goddess energy. Thanks for everything you do

I lived in an old house in Catlettsburg, KY and the door at the end of the upstairs hallway just went out to nothing. It was dressed like a front door, too! Wreath and all. One bathroom was above the kitchen and the pipes leaked one time and the red wallpaper downstairs made it look like blood.
Ahhh. To be in that house again! Still have photos from the flood in the 1920's, someone went down the street in a canoe and snapped pics, and the family is all on the porch with the water right up to the top step.

I was notorious for cutting my own bangs too even tho I knew I always fucked it up but it's like trying to ignore an itch. when you get that urge to go at your hair it's all you can think about till you do it. And honestly I think you look super spunky the way your hair is jeri ❤

I'm sure you already learned about pogs, but if not let me know and I can go into it. This was an excellent episode and a great exploration of many classic things I had forgotten about.

Pogs were little round disc's like 2 inches around and you played a game with them. They also had different pictures and stuff on them and people collected them.

Pogs were round cardboard disc things we collected and it was a game. I cant remember the excat rules, but there were slammers that were bigger than the pogs. We collected those like trading cards and were the popular game before Pokemon.

Pogs were used for a game (altho I just kept them because I liked them). They were round cardboard disks with different pictures or characters on them. I'm almost 33 now and they were popular when I was like 10. Google will show you pics of what they look like 🤘🏻💙

I had Pogs!! Little round circles with pictures on them. Then there was the slammers and they were metal circles with different designs and shit. I had one of Judge Ito from the OJ Simpson trials. And my dad was able to make me custom pogs with pictures from my yearbook! It was a game you played, kinda like marbles or something. I never played though. But I sure had a binder full of the pogs and a case of slammers. I have the slammers for sure around here somewhere.

Omg chicken limbo. My favorite game as a kid. I just brought this up with my mom. Sadly she gave it to a neighbor when I stopped using it. So I’m currently trying to find a decently priced one on eBay. So far only finding parts. 😢

    OMG POGS!!
They were carboard disks, and you would hit them with 'slammers' made out of hard plastic or metal.

I'm not gonna lie I full on think Jerry should get her hair cut like a pixie cut so it's like a fresh start. She gets to change her appearance to something that very much so work for her and feel amazing. This look also looks great but if it seems so much like a problem then cut it off and enjoy it let it grow back out if you want or keep it short either way I think you'll look fuckin awesome
