The difference is,not being subjective, PB is a huge thrash metal drummer player.But DL is a huge drummer period.That makes the difference.PB is very "metal" when he plays and sometimes that's boring.
Everyone saying Bostaph is half the drummer Dave is, or that Slayer is dead without Lombardo are the type of people that have heard: Raining Blood, Angel of Death, Dead Skins Mask, War Ensamble ect. And think that the first five Slayer albums with Lombardo is the only work Slayer has ever done. Sorry but 90's/Bostaph era Slayer is just as good as their 80's work, and Bostaph blows Dave clean out of the water. Slayer died with Hanneman, not Dave. Slayer managed fine for 10 years without him.
I agree Paul is a very powerful drummer and not saying he sucks but he is very machine like and that works if you're Fear Factory but Slayer killed because Lombardo has feel for days. Thats what I dig...feel.

Bostaph is the most powerful drummer Slayer's had, he brought a new dynamic to the band imo...I love Dave on the kit just as much as the next Slayer fan but business is business and the show must go on, besides, we've been through this song and dance with Dave before...it's always him who has the problem and no one else, it is what it is but regardless of who is at the kit Slayer will still be Slayer
For a metal drummer Paul Bostaph is excellent. I dont get why people compare this kind of drumming with Dave lombardo. 2 different worlds, Lombardo is a lot more musical and better musician. Divine intervention is a great album for metal genre in terms of drumming, nothing else. For example ive never heard PB use toms or symbols in a not classical way is like they were created to do the "tu tu tutututum" XD. For me musicians that look for different things like Dave Lombardo,Alex Skolnick are true musicians.
I don't agree at all, Bostaph is 10 times more sophisticate drummer than Lombardo, he gave a total different grove at the band,they became from tresh at tresh-core with him......God hate us all.......Listen the first songs after the intro and listen what this man is capable to do......any time the extreme metal band needed a great and unique drummer........they always asked for Bostaph......Testament....Exodus......Lombardo is great but after him we have had drummers which did better than him.....Jordison for example.....i am not a big fan of the Slipknot at all.....but he is a fuckin great drummer.....
