Great job explaining it step-by-step. So I am having trouble with changing laptop cpu. They say that if the socket is BGA I should change the motherboard or buy new laptop, and my question is how exactly would you know if the motherboard is compatible with the laptop Thanks!!:)
With laptops, parts compatibility is not as common as with desktop computers. You would have to search for 'lenovo g40-50 motherboard' or find the part number on the motherboard :( You would also have to search for one with an i7 assuming that model had that option at one point.

Also do you have to make any setting adjustments after replacing motherboard with exact same motherboard? Thank you, David Bantle
Its possible. Its hard to say without seeing it. Is the port broken or is the clip broken? You can see those a little closer here; ruclips.net/video/9_8kR99aZHk/видео.html If you do replace the motherboard, no, there are no adjustments that are needed.
No. Assuming the HDD is still good and the operating system on it is still good, you dont have to install or update anything simply due to a motherboard replacement :)
Yes, you can put custom motherboards in computers in gerneral. However, there are some pretty tech compatibility issues to consider and its not a practical thing to try in most normal computers.
If it is possible to replace the whole motherboard, doesnt that tehnically mean that you can replace both your CPU and GPU (in case both of them are stuck on the motherboard), which means you could upgrade your whole laptop considerably ? (i might be very wrong, feel free to correct me)
Yes, if your computer comes with higher options, you could swap out your motherboard for one with greater specs. If your computer does not come in other options, then no, you would not be able to as no replacement motherboards would be available.
Hi, due to a spillage on keyboard I have been looking at this. Do you have a video on how to test the power on button, or better still bypass it? Laptop is an HP 255 G5. Thanks in anticipation, Andy Day
1. Whats wrong with your computer? Are there any signs of life at all when you try to turn it on? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen? 2. After a liquid spill, you want to first make sure the computer is 100% dry. You would turn your computer off immediately by pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days.

Each time the screen time got shorted and shorter. Down to only showing the MSI logo, and now no screen time at all. Not even the logo. Just completely black. From what I’ve seen in my research I believe I may have a bad capacitor. My laptop is an MSI stealth. I’m currently trying to find a bad printer around thst I could possibly find replacement capacitors for.

Is it possible to replace HP Spectre x360 mobo to custom one? Or there are some crazy limitations that I should be aware of?

@@PC_Monkey Thanks for quick reply. Re Q1. It did start at first but then came upwith a blue screen saying a problem was detected and would shut down. Snce then nothing, no signs of life at all when I press the power switch.
Q2. After that problem I did take it apart and left to dry out, replaced the CMOS battery and cleaned it's housing with a cotton bud. So I'm pretty sure it's dry now.
I've seen somewhere about sending a current thru the pin 2 of the keyboard connector to bypass the button but not quite sure how to do that. I do have a multimeter so have tested the charger as per one of your other videos.

Will an Alienware M15 R5 motherboard fit onto an Alienware M15 R3 Laptop?
Not 100% positive but no, I dont think they will. What is the part number on your motherboard? It should look like this; 6W7NY

@@eury360 Is this your motherboard? ebay.us/LzcD9O. Its possible it can fit because apparently it fits into an R2 as well.
I have an asus q535ud. Shut off during bios update. Turns on screen black. Capslock light on. Is it my motherboard? How do I tell if I have to solder any components.. I was told its all plug in so to speak like a gaming laptop. Any advice is appreciated
1. Are the lights the only signs of life when you turn it on? No motherboard or hard drive sounds? No fan noise? Nothing on the screen?
2. Can you manually reset BIOS as seen here? ruclips.net/video/76I2Ec9K7lw/видео.html
I unplugged the cmos battery... it's the kind in a black sleeve. Unplugged and plugged back in everything lol. Other main question. I'm willing to just replace the motherboard I just need to figure out if it's on-board or off I guess so I don't have to solder anything. If it's off board all I do is replace the MB and buy a new windows 10 new OS USB stick?
The fans work for a lil then go off after a little
@@alildabbledo The Operating System is not installed to the Motherboard. Its installed to the HDD. If you have the same HDD, you shouldnt have to reinstall Windows :)

Sir I need your help very much. I have a Samsung series 5 notebook NP530U3B. I am having problems with booting. I cant find why isn’t it working. It dectes the harddisk in bios but does not start it gets stucked at my loading screen. Plzzz help sir I will mail you the video related with my laptop if you need the video. The problem is it gets stucked at the very first screen showing Samsung logo and doesn’t go any forward. I think I am having problems with my harddisk.
I answered your other comment. Please do not spam multiple same comments. Ill reply to the one I answered to.

@@PC_Monkey bro, it took u hours to reply and i already managed to fix it myself 5 minutes after i wrote my comment, you have to get the battery out then in, next u do the same but with charger, last u leave charger in while getting battery out then take it out and put it back in, yes, with the 1 minute click, first 2 rather more than a minute last a minute is enough
@@ThatDerpJerk hi i hope you reply ASAP. My dell laptop went black screen in the morning it was working fine last night. Today when i tried to turn it on it shows black screen although when i put my laptop on charge it shows white light that indicates that laptop is being charged. Could you plesse tell me how did you fix yours?
@@にあじまはm well the thing is i was fixing it by mistake when i played with the battery, but try to leave the charger connected to the pc and get the battery out, after u take the battery out take the charger out and wait 2 minutes or a few seconds, then just place the battery back and then the charger and open the pc
@@ThatDerpJerk oh okay okay I'll try this out tomorrow and will let you know. Do you think it's a mother board issue tho?
You forgot to transfer the bios chip from the defective board to the new board. The bios chip has all the info for your hard drive.
1st - This was a tutorial on how to replace a motherboard. Not a BIOS chip, HDD, RAM, etc.
2nd - No lol, you dont have to transfer a BIOS chip in order to use a HDD. And there is not DATA saved on a BIOS chip that the DATA on the HDD is dependent on. Not sure what your mean to say but no, transfering a BIOS chip is not needed in order to use a replacement motherboard, HDD, or any other component.
It's sad how my PC kept crashing and crashing now it's turning on but with a black screen I checked the other videos of yours but I don't wanna open up the back part of the laptop since my life just sucks it will probably break if I open it even though that's probably the issue and I must open it
If the screen is black, what are the signs that the computer is on? Lights, Fan, Motherboard or Hard Drive sounds?
