    Hi Xander, Dan here. Glad the guitar got to you safely. Whereas the vid wasn't asked for (just reiterating that 🙂), it's 100% appreciated and awesome playing! Sorry about the scratchy frets, we've taken that onboard and will feedback to the factory to improve that. I didn't get scratchy frets on the others I had sent for review and as the guitar strings were wrapped in wax paper and didn't want to remove that to keep them as fresh as possible. But we'll make sure to get that checked and put right going forward. Thanks again, happy New Year.

      Hi @chapmanguitars, I'm actually about to buy a guitar in exactly this price range and the ML1 X is my first option, an alternative would be the Cort G300 pro, which offers locking tuners, stainless steel frets and 2x Seymour Duncan humbuckers. However the ML1 X is for all intents and purposes the closest I can get to the tones that actually interest me.
      So could you provide an update on the scratchy frets issue? Did you confirm and resolve it with your factory?
      I'm currently on a squire by fender that's very scratchy and those scratches even come out of the amplifier, so quite frustrated, it'd be a real shame to get a brand new Chapman at double the price and face similar issues, but as it stands I'm almost out of options...

    • @chapmanguitars
      @chapmanguitars Год назад +1

      @@giorginho7mobile Hi, Dan here. We looked into the feedback about the frets and made sure that the factory are aware. However, we also reviewed guitars on the same shipment and they didnt have any issues so we're confident it was an isolated issue. Which doesn't excuse and is still a shame. but we've also asked that strings are wrapped and packed with paper to help any corrosion during shipping. Thanks for considering a Chapman. If you do buy one and have any issues you should contact the retailer or us directly and we'll help to put things right, but clearly we'd hope and expect that won't have to happen. Thanks

      @@giorginho7mobile The ML1 X is not in the same price range as a Cort G300Pro, which is $749 USD, While ML1 X is at $516 USD, which is about 31% price different.

    Found one of these used at GC for $399. I still have to pick it up, I'll post an update after I have a chance to play it. Thanks Ray!
    Update: The ML1 X I got was in great shape, but it does have some minor issues. Ray was right, the frets are very rough and scratchy. The nut needs some filing to widen the slots, there is some ping noise happening on string bends primarily the B string. The neck is great, it sounds great, it looks great.

    I have been playing guitar 24yrs and i have never had or needed "locking tuners". Wth does that even mean? My Grovers have always held tune amazingly.

    • @alexlucasmusic
      @alexlucasmusic Год назад +8

      To be fair, I always saw them as a convenience feature for string changes (no winds required) more so than tuning stability.

    • @hughmungus4616
      @hughmungus4616 Год назад +5

      Once the string goes in the peg hole the locking tuner will clamp the string in there so you don’t have to wrap it around the peg a few times how you would originally do it, they are really not that necessary though just make string changes a bit quicker

    • @zenistermister9695

      I would feel cheated if i didn't atleast wrap it a few times. I love making sure my wound is tight and atleast 3 layers deep... Maybe I'm crazy... Just never needed it i guess. I'd love to buy something like this for $650 but the reversed tele neck throws me off (seems like it is on all of their guitars). Also, like you said, the switch being in between both knobs is odd and it's a bit far away compared to a tele or strat. I also hate Rob Chapman. You can also buy a b-stock Solar for the same price

  • @p4fizzle
    @p4fizzle Год назад

    To be honest, my first (and only) Ibanez had a REALLY dry scratchy fret board out of the box, it made playing bends especially rough. It's not so bad now after an oiling or two. But it doesn't get much love. I'm sure if I gave it a bit more attention it would work itself out. I think the finish on that Chapman looks really nice and I like having my vol/tone knobs set back out of the way. If the pickups are decent, then I think it looks like a great guitar!

      buff the fret wire, you can use 2000 grit sand paper then polish it up with some buffing cloth or like a tshirt with a few drips of metal polish. you're gonna have really smooth bends once you polish the fret wires.

    • @p4fizzle
      @p4fizzle Год назад

      @@Ottophil Depends on the fretboard radius, string guage and tuning. It was a 7 string with some floppy strings on it. I'm not talking about a scratch coming through in the audio, I mean a scratchy feeling you can feel when playing when my strings (or specifically the 7th and low E string) definitely are touching the fretboard. The fretboard was very dry and it was quite rough and scratchy as a result. I'll iterate again that this is a feeling and not something that comes through in the audio
