Here's a tip I wish I knew starting out: Don't start playing the game right before or during Easter, because all the resources you might be wanting/needing to collect to progress becomes *EGGS*
I bought the game at launch and hated it. This year, I tried again, rushing everything, time traveling, restarting if I wasn't satisfied, etc., and now I'm enjoying it. I know those who loved this game since launch really value the slow pace, but I think it's important to remember that we're all different, and have our own play styles. Excellent video, either way. Thank you for the great content!
Another tip I wish I knew at the beginning is: don’t pick a map where resident services is super close to the airport! It makes it incredibly difficult to make a pretty entrance when you’re working with like six tiles of space 😩
My first campsite villager on my island was Zell. Imo I got really lucky with this, because I don't like that many of the smug villagers. Also he's still on my island now and I don't want him to move out yet.
i really hate Zell, but you do you. i got Hans for my first one, which I hated. then on the first reset, i got Raymond. then on this reset i got Marshall.
You can actually get fruit from villagers. My fruit was orange, sister pear and then I got an apple. Not sure what triggered it. I older games I think you could get fruit via letters if you mailed your native fruit. I wonder if that still works. Maybe not.
Great advice for beginners. I used to be naive when I was first playing this game and later learned how to not take the food seriously. When your mom sends you what’s supposed to be your island’s sister fruit, NEVER wolf it down - brandish your shovel and start planting them into trees to start making profit with exotic fruit once they’re grown, and then have some players from other islands import three more varieties to yours so they can be planted too and have more options to make profit and learn more DIY recipes from different fruit. Also, don’t start shaking off fruit from your native fruit trees until AFTER setting up three housing plots to start growing your island’s population, and the required items for a starter lazy villager’s house will include some furniture crafted from your native fruit. And when you get to the part where you can now learn how to cook, anything you prep should NEVER be eaten at all - they should be sold to Nook’s Cranny to make profit just as with craftable DIY items to make some good moolah; and sometimes the food you prep will be listed as one of the two hot items to sell on any day. And what you could have mentioned is that the 6th resident whom is any random Smug villager and first campsite visitor whose housing plot MUST be set out whether if it’s a villager you like or not, that’s where you will then have new villagers’ interiors based on the individual villager rather than personality; and if you have completed 30 vacation homes and opened the apparel shop in the HHP DLC that gives you the permit to remodel your villagers’ houses inside and out, you can ask Isabelle to reset their houses for you if it’s a starter house or if you remodeled it but want to put it back the way you found it from when they first moved in, but that will also remove the doorplate or wreath if you gifted it to that villager or not; because resetting a villager’s house will affect BOTH the interior and exterior.
The only thing I want to add is that you can *use* the storage sheds before you have paid off your home and bought the storage expansion - however, you cannot buy them or craft them yourself, you'd need to get one from somebody else. But once you have it, you can use it.
My face when I see the notification: 😊 also IM EARLY FOR ONCE oh btw here’s your bonus tip: sell your non native fruit once u have planted a tree of your nonnative fruit. (You get more money with nonnative fruit than native fruit)
I just got a switch lite for Christmas but want to ask my parents to get me New Horizons for my birthday in two days, so this will be useful for when I get it :)
I started playing ac on 30th january 2021. I played it EVERYDAY, but 29th December 2022… i forgot. Im gonna restart my island on 30th January (after exactly 2 years) and this video is really helpful!!
I wish I knew that crafting and placing all the furniture for villagers 3-5 will auto fill who moves in if you haven’t invited 3 villagers from mystery islands yet
Wouldn't that be fun to be surprised and play the game and find these out on your own? That's what I did, it was really fun. I didn't want to cheat and figure them out before hand because it was like cool little treasures along the way. But I'm glad you found these out!
just wanna give you guys a tip I just stumbled on it coincidently and persistently. If there's a new villager at a campsite during the purchase of land plot they'll do a card game where you have to pick one suite either hearts, spades, clubs or diamond to determine if they should live on the island or not. Some cases you'll win but it's not easy to determine if you'll win at all (I raged it when I lost to Vivian lol) but if that's the case don't give up and just keeping talking to them until they fold and do it again and this time hope to win, I won viv at the end I didn't know at first but thought if anyone doesn't want to lose a fav of theirs :)
Stuff I wish I knew (ive never restarted): To check peninsula size when choosing maps and resident distance To get more birthday items you're meant to give out the cupcakes on the day not hoard them That a tall object can prevent a rock spawn even if there's space around the rock spot 2.0/HHP things I wish I knew To do Katrinas fortune first (I'm stuck in the habit of doing every other daily and gift giving first before I go to Harv's, usually halfway through before I remember) That the HHP chef gives a recipe
Some more tips that no one asked for but is getting, you can get some rusted things, or old trash, give it to your least fav villager and that’s minus a few friendship points!
I wish I knew NOT to get overwhelmed by the terraforming and the decoration. That's the main reason why I fucked up my island, then things got out of hand and I stopped playing. ):
this video is great! but rn I’m on the nook’s cranny mission and I can’t find rocks, so how do I put rocks in the same place? or is that something I can’t control? HELP
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I ate the fruit my mom sent me Uhhhhhhhhhhh I was a complete noob when I started so then I thought that apples were the only fruit to grow on trees. So s l o w l y I ate the oranges. Then I got annoyed. I’m still annoyed even though I have all the fruit because it turns out some of my closest friends played animal crossing and I had noooooo idea

Its a good day when koramora uploads and makes you realize that this game is still alive
I keep forgetting to do the morning aerobics every day to get the extra emotes. Tyty for reminding me!

I'm the only one of my friends group still playing, mainly because I do 15 minutes a night. Playing since launch and still not burned out!
