- Today I will show you how I mix my paints for this Strainer Pour Technique. This episode is inspired by the amazing @Fiona-Art This fluid art technique isn't too technical however there is definitely a learning curve to it. you can. really acheive some wonderful art effects.
Paint Recipe for this video:
-1 Part Paint
( I used blickcrylic student paint for this one and topped each color off with Amsterdam Standard Series Paint) Approximately 75% Blick to 25% Amsterdam
-1 Part American Floetrol
-1/2 Part Elmer's Glue
-1/2 Water

What a beautiful split cup strainer pour!! I love the colors and the way it opened up. I know you asked for palette suggestions...too many choices!!!! I really like the colors Dominik Scherl has been using lately...ivory, gold, brown, copper, brass, black. That palette might produce a real beauty!! ❤

This is great what do you call the the divided cup?
Strainer
How do you keep the canvas on the spinner, so that your painting does not fly off while you are spinning?
I don't spin spoke fast but also a dab of paint under your canvas acts as a suction cup and helps!
What ratio of paint to floetrol did you use ? My paint is always to thick when I try a strainer pour.
Try a 2:1 ratio... Two parts floetrol and 1 part tube paint. A little water to match consistencies and you should be good to go.
