Also, a few elite intellectuals (most of them living in big Indian cities or in foreign countries) having a conference against Hindutva wouldn't influence or effect the vast majority of Indians who would never watch that conference anyway. Most Indians will never listen to them or will never read their literature, so what's the big deal if they organize such a conference? If anything, these conferences are already useless as they never really influence public opinion.
So just let them organize it. It won't make much difference anyway

Now with talks being held between our NSA and other foreign counterparts, its getting even more difficult to understand what India and allies are trying and should do in the long term. Also, if you can shed some light on how NATO countries are looking at India because it seems we are the only large enough ally in the region. A CTC is much needed Sir.

Shekhar was among first to say that India should leave Taliban to itself for now! There's nothing much we can do right now anyway. So whether you criticise or you praise is just a political thing, there's no point of that as there is no other option with India anyway. Going ahead, I think India would go along with the opinion which other countries build on Taliban. Everyone is waiting right now! There's a question about future of Indian investments there, that too will depend on how Taliban (read Pakistan) reacts, in short, right now the ball is in their court.
As of the NATO question, you rightly said that they need a partner in region which can balance China, that's apparent from the progress which has been made in QUAD. The long term effects of Covid-19 induced economic shock are still to play out, but no major threat to economy is being expected right now. Though world has started to take notice of China's posturing in various theatres and they realise that China's rise could be a strategic challenge. So I believe the NATO, especially USA will keep growing close to India slowly. The relationship is also very natural because we have a lot in common, even more so in age of internet. This is an American company on which we are having this conversation and it's CEO is Indian. That should explain the nature of relationship between India and West.

Mr Gupta, here's something you and Farid Zakaria have been missing or glossing over: Islam has an unofficial caste system in which Muslims of Turkish or Arab origin are superior and others inferior. This notion brought about the alienation of East Pakistan/Bangladesh. It lives on, as you will see if you follow responses to Ertugrul.
In other words, Uighurs are expendable.
Also, there was a Pew Research survey of Islamic countries a few years ago that said that the vast majority of Muslims are pro-Shariah. This was a few years ago and I'm not sure it was ever repeated, but a repear now is likely to throw up a few surprises.
Finally, there are strong and increasingly vocal pro-Shariah groups in most countries that have significant immigrant Muslim populations.
All in all, I think you're presenting an oversimplified and perhaps sanitized view of the Taliban and of the Islamic world.
If you do happen to read this, I hope you have a wider-ranging Cut the Clutter episode on these issues soon.

On the other hand, how America handled the terrorism though they are the creator as well. They use bullets and bombs to destroy. World witnesses instead of decreasing the terrorism , we see sharp increase in the number of terrorisms all over the world. If you are honest how India handles the Kashmiri and North eastern issues, you will surely give your justification. India simply crushed them inhuman ways. Please go to Xinjiang province - get the first hand information, okay ! And about the Taliban, china has categorically mentioned either Foe or Friend depends on how Taliban governs the country. Please try to appreciate CHINA, you guys are really sick, your master America has been bullying and threatening the world and you still worship your master as hero- caretaker. Your master has already realized and rang up Xi Jinping to about lifting the ban and start a new journey of cooperation. Why you make hue and cry - you are wasting your time, you are not doing sincerely for the betterment of your people. You simply bark human right, human right, human right ! See in your India, so many people are under the poverty, so many slums, everywhere dirt, homeless, deprived of basic foods, noise pollution, environment pollution, aren't these things human right abuses ? You have been independent for 74 years, what India has been doing? You can not decide yourself, like Australia, you guys are puppets of America. Learn from China , how they sincerely think and act about their people, now the people of China are getting the benefits. If China insists that its Muslims are to pray in Chinese only and not in Arabic, its dismissed as merely as Deislamisation of Islam, and not acceptable.
What to make if the Tamil Nadu Govt, stating that Tamil prayers are alone to be heard in temples? And the High Court has said Sanskrit should not be the language in temple--- is this not violation of the temple culture for Hindus?

I don't see any surprises here... China has no interest in Islam and Taliban has no interest in Communist way..... but they have common enemies and opportunities to exploit. So wasn't this expected?

Chinese and Americans are pragmatic...while they have completely controlled Islam in their home, in international arena they are still able to deal with them fruitfully....whereas in India it's just the opposite...while Islam is flourishing in its all forms inside India in every corners, in international arena we are least given importance by Islamic or other countries !!

Re: The Taliban can protect China from radical Islam. During the American evacuation from the airport ISIS-K conducted a bombing. 13 Americans killed, 20 Taliban and 150 Afghan civilians.
That Taliban with it's capacity to infiltrate and communicate with the Afghan population was not able to prevent this atrocity. Similarly with the murder of 90 schoolgirls a few months ago.
What plausible guarantee are they going to give to China?

Used to think you were fair in your comments. The line “ China crushes Islam…. “ is a sad reminder that you in India are so blinded by hate that you now intentionally use “ Islam” instead of “ Muslim”. Shekhar, “ Islam “ is a way of life - how does one crush an idea ?

China crush Islam in China. And Taliban crush Islam in Afghanistan. Both are extreme in their Idiolog. One thing should be clear Muslims can be crushed not Islam.

Mr S Gupta I can understand that your analysis has to be influenced by the view point of Indian establishment and strategic interests in particular against China Pakistan and Taliban. You are experienced in twisting the facts to your advantage..You mentioned about changes in structure of a mosque in China. What about demolition of BABARI mosque in India. And Pakistan is happy that Taliban are in control only and only because India was there to only and only Hurt Pakistan through RAW TTP etc. Let us talk about what option do Taliban have in current geopolitical regional climate. USA and western countries are extremely hurt by this misadventure of theirs in Afghanistan and has frozen their funds in retaliation or otherwise. In this situation if China comes to their rescue then why not to choose a partner that is also a neighbour and do not have criminal history of invading other countries for oil mineral etc.and don't make local people their slaves.
You gave example of Saudi Arabia and UAE while ignoring as to how humane they are to their women and those who dare to disagree with them...I don't need to further explain as I expect you are intelligent enough though choose to ignore....

Taliban should ignore India for prosecuting Muslim minorities and let India marginalized minorities. This is ur proposal. Why Indian r so fearful?
